Chapter 169 - Not His Son!

"I'll be going back now.. Adrian, you can take a day off tomorrow and spend time with your family!", Lucifer ignored Damien's words and turned to Adrian before walking away in long strides.

Damien Gold was wise enough to understand the indication behind Lucifer's silence, he remained silent observing him.

"Also, bring Dai Yu along with you..", Lucifer halted midway, turned around to remind him about Dai Yu.

Adrian was stupefied by the occurrences that night, he was still trying to process the fact that he now had a dad, an adopted brother and a bunch of other secrets.

With no heed at all he nodded blankly at Lucifer's instructions.

Lucifer didn't stop and strode out of the abandoned park, it was nearly 9 in the evening. Sitting in his car he sighed with a tired countenance before zooming towards the Chung's family manor.

It was pitch dark when Lucifer entered the enormous looking manor, a dim light from the lamp post outside illuminated his tall stature.

He stumbled his way and found the door to Alex Chung's study, he unlocked it with a key kept securely in his gun's holster.

With a soft click Lucifer opened the door and walked inside, easily navigating himself he found the large wooden shelf.

His hands reached to a black notebook in the yellow light of the lamppost outside the window, it was adding a soft glow while highlighting the grim look in Lucifer's gray eyes, they were dull almost lifeless.

He opened the notebook, there were a few pages missing while some were tattered, carefully flipping through them he found a folded paper tucked in between the notebook.

His fingers trembled, the notebook fell with a thud scattering the torn pieces of paper.

After steadying himself Lucifer closed his eyes before opening them, filled with flash of blazing emotions.

"The monster violated her countless times. Each time he would thrust his desire into her, unsatiated, he would render her senseless..."

The words written on the folded piece of paper narrate a story, a gruelling, inhuman and monstrous conduct towards a frail, weak woman.

It was the diary of Sandra, she had written all her deepest and darkest secrets in them afraid to tell anyone.

She had wanted to let Alex know but her throat would get constricted every single time she tried to think about the scenario.

How would Sandra even tell Alex about the cruelties experienced by her to the love of her life?

Nearly Ten Years Ago

A 17 year old boy was standing across a big ebony desk with his head lowered.

Fat tears were flowing out of his gray eyes with his fists clenched tightly almost digging his nails into the fair skin of his palms, he stood rooted to the ground.

There was a soft creak and the door to the study opened, Alex Chung walked inside with his usual poise and dignified stature. His eyes flashed seeing the young boy crying in silence.

"Lucifer?", Alex called out in a soft voice, he was worried seeing the usual cheery boy looking so forlorn.

"This..", his eyes darted to the black notebook in Lucifer's hands, his heart drumming loudly almost deafening him.

Alex Chung strolled straight to his side and snatched the notebook before keeping it back into the shelf in between renowned author's books.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you.. I had promised your mother", he stopped mid sentence when Lucifer raised his bloodshot eyes and met his gaze, his heart jolted seeing the poor boy's condition.

"What happened that time?", his throat was dry, with a hoarse voice Lucifer posed a question to the shaking Alex Chung.

The reason Lucifer is asking Alex Chung the truth of the matter is because when Alex had initially read Sandra's diary after her death, in his fury he had almost destroyed it's pages.

Hence Lucifer only knew parts of the story and not the entire truth, he was only aware of the hardships his mother had to face.

"That year, after your mother's abduction.. I was sent back to A Country to recuperate. I was in a vegetative condition for over a year, after coming to senses I was recovering well however I wasn't allowed to move around or go out, the security was also increased by the elders.."

Alex Chung sat on the leather chair to balance himself, his pale face and trembling body made him look like a sick person.

Lucifer stood in complete silence, he was trying to feed the words that escaped Alex's mouth into his brain.

"After a while it was getting unbearable for me.. I used to miss Sandra and was worried about her, then I resorted to oppose the elders stubbornly and they sent me back to B city.."

A hint of pain and sorrow laced his aged yet refined voice, his eyes were dim by the sudden change in emotions.

"Few weeks after that I received a call from an unknown number, It was Sandra.. I was so happy that I nearly tripped and fell! Heh, I still remember that day.."

He laughed in amusement, his voice was strained. Even the laughter that resonated the silent study room was contained with self mockery and hurt.

Lucifer's eyes shifted seeing the visible pain in his eyes, averting his gray eyes he accidentally held Alex's gaze.

"I arrived at the bus station to receive her, I was waiting for her, I waited and waited and waited.. but she never came. Disheartened, I got drunk that night and fell asleep on the road.. Elder Chung almost beat me to death with his cane the next morning.."

Alex Chung was smiling faintly at the distant memory, he stopped mid sentence and looked at Lucifer who was standing motionless with a blank expression on his red face.

"Then after a couple of years she found me in my office, she was carrying you in her arms.. You were so cute, with little arms and legs, those glittering gray eyes.."

Lucifer jolted awake by Alex Chung's words, a drastic change of expressions took place making Alex gape at his face.

Realization hit Alex Chung and he cursed himself for revealing a crucial piece of information, it was a secret that he had unknowingly divulged it.

Lucifer parted his trembling lips to speak, no voice came out.

Looking at the jug of water he picked it up and gulped it hastily trying to wash down his parched throat.

His white shirt was soaked with water dripping from his mouth, his neck and hands were all wet. After setting the glass jug on the desk with a loud shattering sound he finally opened his mouth to speak.

"I'm not your son?", his deep sorrowful voice made Alex Chung shake his head in denial, he stood up with a start and ran towards Lucifer.

"You're my son! You're Sandra's son. So you're my son as well..", he held his shoulders firmly before speaking each word clearly for Lucifer to understand.

Lucifer didn't say anything and tried to run away but Alex Chung didn't give him any chance to retreat and hugged him with all attempts to stop his moving footsteps to leave the study room.

Present

"I'm not his son!", Lucifer screamed, his croaky voice echoed into the dead night scaring away the chirping small night birds, owls and bats.
