"Was that Luke? Only he can rile you up like a wild bear with a sore head.. Heh!"
Powerful and heavy footsteps followed by a magnetic voice entered into the red faced Adrian's ears. He turned around to find a well dressed Lucifer standing by the door, his gray eyes shining with interest as he stifled his laughter.
Looking striking as ever Lucifer languidly advanced forward, his hand sporting a Rolex Daytona Rainbow Edition wristwatch was stuffed inside his pocket. The pristine white suit jacket with a dark burgundy shirt underneath brought forth his strong personality making him appear suave and sophisticated.
The casually dressed Adrian's appearance was stark opposite, a v-neck sweater in chocolate brown and khaki pants was wrapped around his slightly bulky body. He was looking homely and completely at ease.
"That annoying prick, he sure loves to run his cheeky mouth as he pleases.."
Unaffected by the sudden intrusion by his 'brother' Adrian spat his words with a chill in his tone.
He stood up, strolling towards the cabinet to pour a glass of whiskey for himself.
Intently listening to his rumbling Lucifer chuckled, he was amused by this jerky love-hate relationship between Adrian and Luke.
Though Lucifer had an inkling what might have caused this unexpected strain he didn't mindlessly intervene for his own reasons.
Instead he chose to stay oblivious and watch everything from the sidelines. All this to protect them without their knowledge and not ruin their 'true' friendship.
In any case Lucifer wouldn't let anyone or anything hurt his loved ones.
"If only he wasn't on an important mission I'd pluck his feathers so that he couldn't fly this high.."
"That gallus curly haired chimpanzee.."
While Lucifer was lost in a dreamland the furious Adrian was still grumbling unhappily like three-year old toddler sipping from the crystal glass. His grip around the glass tightened mildly.
His glamorous face was distorted into an ugly expression recalling the brat, Luke's provocative remarks. He stirred the glass with disinterest while staring blankly at the walls.
Anyone could tell that Luke was intentionally rubbing it on Adrian's face. He was especially joyous after finding out that Adrian's girlfriend had long dumped him that too on the eve of his birthday. It was big news.
After all Adrian had once shamelessly abandoned his 'bro' for his 'true love' with no regrets.
"Don't dwell on those things anymore.. Anyway Luke likes to pull your leg and jest with you, it's not something unusual for that idiot!"
Trying to dismiss all the doleful and melancholic thoughts from Adrian's head Lucifer attempted to divide his attention smoothly.
His tone was light while he lounged on the comfortable couch in the room, still poised.
It didn't sound like Lucifer was comforting someone, his words were as though said leisurely in passing.
"If it wasn't for that idiot, I would've long gotten married.."
Triggered by 'not something unusual' Adrian silently muttered under his breathe. His oceanic blue eyes held a hint of disapproval and disappointment which he managed to hide from Lucifer.
He slammed the glass on the table and slumped back into his chair.
"I clearly remember telling you to take a day off, why are you here? It's your birthday, at least today try to break free from the past and enjoy yourself.."
Heedless of Adrian's dreamy thoughts about his colorful future with Su Yin, Lucifer quizzed with a slightly puzzled expression.
Resting his chin on the back of his hand, Lucifer sat cross legged with his curious gaze scanning through Adrian's countenance.
A ghostly smirk gracing Lucifer's charming face. He continued to cheer him as he blabbed unthinkingly.
Sensing the minute changes in Adrian's expression Lucifer's gray eyes shone with a sly gleam. He was definitely plotting something in that devilish head of his.
"Hmm.."
Pondering on whatever Lucifer words were hinting at Adrian hummed with a profound gaze. His forehead was creased with fine lines as he contemplated seriously.
"You're right! I should let go of the past.. Let's party tonight"
Nodding his head with a faint curl of his seductive lips Adrian exclaimed, his eyes flashed with a light that was brighter than his smile.
"Huh? Are you sure? You're really going to move on!!"
Taken aback by Adrian's abrupt enthusiastic response which wasn't exactly what Lucifer was expecting, the latter was at a complete loss for words.
He wordlessly gawked at his brother's beaming face nervously before prodding further to satisfy his own befuddled brain's curios voices. His tone slightly loud and nervy.
"Uh-huh.. I'm dead sure this time, it's already a year and I'm not so weak. My love isn't weak!"
With a firm resolve Adrian nodded his head vigorously, his voice had a determination that mercilessly put Lucifer's ploy in shambles.
Picking himself up from the seat Adrian slammed his hands on the table declaring proudly.
He marched towards the vacant space across Lucifer with his long legs and proceeded to perch on it.
"Oh no!!"
Gulping his own spit Lucifer blurted, his face was pale unlike the blooming Adrian. He even shook his head seemingly stunned by the turn of events.
"Huh? Did you say something?"
Staggered by the unanticipated reaction from the always cool as a cucumber Lucifer, Adrian quizzed appearing dumbstruck.
"Nope! Nothing.."
Denying in a heartbeat, Lucifer managed a small smile on his face. His eyes twitched looking at Adrian's foolishly smiling face.
"Lucifer! Thank you so much for opening my eyes, I was blinded by this dreadful feeling of being abandoned by the only girl who confidently held onto me.. I'm forever grateful to you!"
Feeling philosophical the man begun putting forth his deep felt thoughts with a gratifying expression. His blue eyes twinkling akin to the over the odds sapphires.
"Eh? You sure? I mean.. You might be losing onto something because of your decision"
Goggle-eyed by the heartfelt words spoken by Adrian Lucifer was speechless.
Whatever conspired in these few minutes was beyond his comprehension. His tone slowly turned croaky as he felt his throat constricted.
"I have been losing so much all these months but now"
Shaking his head Adrian retorted in a deep voice.
"Ad! Relax!.. You're getting worked up real quick.."
Hurriedly interrupting the man midsentence like his life depended on it Lucifer almost jumped out of his seat. He held Adrian's arm persuading him in a gentle manner, almost coaxing a child.
"You need to think through this.. Let's just relax and chill tonight and then think about all this.. OK?"
Adrian was startled by this, he stared at Lucifer with a confounded look while he continued wheedling.
Unperturbed by Lucifer's weird behavior Adrian grinned widely, his attention was caught by the word 'party'.
He finally decided to let loose and enjoy this night after nearly a year of abstinence from all sorts of recreation and entertainment.
"Fine! Let's party tonight.."
