With his despondent gaze fixed on Su Yin's disappearing figure, Adrian's mood was in the dumps. He anxiously raised his feet to chase after her, alas, the living obstacle called Luke blocked his way, grinning like a fool that he was.
Just as Adrian raised his hollow looking eyes filled with despair, his gaze met Luke's sparkling green gems followed by his chirping. The latter's face had a bright yellow smile that it was nauseating for Adrian to witness.
"OhMyGod!! I never thought that you'd be able to get that hot chick, seriously, Ad!! I'm freaking impressed...!!"
Rubbing his face tiredly with both his hands, Adrian sighed softly before interrupting the blabbermouth, Luke. He held the latter by his shoulders to draw his attention.
"No.. Listen to me, Luke.."
However, before any substantial words could leave Adrian's mouth, Luke's cellphone buzzed interrupting their conversation.
*buzz*
The casual and laidback expression on Luke's face changed into an austere one, his light green orbs were dark and terrifyingly cold. He still maintained a faint smile while speaking to Adrian, who simply nodded his head with a hint of disappointment on his face.
"Oh! Work calls first.. Wait up, man!"
The smile on Luke's lips disappeared, as though it was an illusion or work of an idle mind, his tone was curt and stern. The faint flicker could be seen in his eyes, on and off.
"It's me.."
"Okay.."
Flipping back the cellphone into one of his pockets, Luke shot a glance at Adrian, a lighthearted chuckle escaped his lips as he sputtered. It was followed by a friendly pat on the back, a wide grin and a naughty wink.
"I'm sorry Ad, I've gotta go.. Happy birthday man and congratulations! I'll wait for the good news.."
Everything that happened around Adrian had left him quite confounded that it was exasperating. He hastily tried to stop Luke and clear all the misunderstandings lest he creates anymore hassles.
"Luke! Luke!!"
Alas, all of Adrian's attempts were futile, the man took a run leaving him alone under the dazzling disco lights. Glaring at the sea of crowd dancing merrily in front of him he cursed out loud.
"Shit!"
It was utterly dumb of Adrian to not chase after Su Yin but have the audacity to think and cling to Luke.
What's wrong with these men?!
Seriously!!

Inside the ladies room
A pitifully frail looking figure in black was quivering like a fallen leaf with fair, smooth palms propped directly on the countertop's cold marble and head bowed down. The silvery shining tap was left open, water gushed down the basin while drops of salty tears were mixed into it, dripping. It was a heartbreaking sight.
'Zhang Lili.. Adrian's love? Zhang Lili?'
'Then.. Then who am I? What's my standing in Adrian's life? Wha..'
'My heart.. It hurts, it hurts so bad.. I can't breathe! I can't.. Breathe'
Slowly, Su Yin looked ahead to meet her downcast and wretched self in the large mirror as tears trickled down her pale cheeks and jawline. The once well made up, pretty face was now a huge mess as she sobbed silently staring at herself with her trembling lips pursed into a straight line.
'I might be childish and all, but I'm not going to show Ad my weaker side.. I'm going to face this situation head-on like a real matured woman with grace..'
Wiping her tears off her face, Su Yin had a burning resolve within her as she gazed deeply into her own pair of beautiful black eyes. Her attempt to pull a smile on her lips that was rather stiff was harder than she thought.
After cleaning her messy face and reviving her angel like beauty by hiding the puffiness of her eyes with makeup Su Yin proceeded to apply a slightly darker shade of red lipstick on her fuller lips.
Subconsciously Su Yin was trying to portray a stronger image of herself in front of the man she'd come to love dearly. It was her way of rebellion against these heavy emotions that were piercing her shattered heart, bleeding it the same deep red. It was her way of saying that she's no loser or rather she's not going to lose herself over something so absurd, or so she thought.
Finally after a lot of struggle Su Yin managed to pull a picture-perfect smile on her face with immaculate makeup on it. She hid her anxiety flawlessly.
Wrapping her trembling fingers around the glittering clutch in her hands Su Yin strode out with her chin held high, much to Adrian's surprise.
Upon exiting the luxuriously designed ladies room Su Yin was startled to find Adrian leaning against the wall. Noticing a presence, he turned to face her, his face glum with a hint of surprise in his blue orbs gazing inquisitively at her fresh looking face.
Shaking off all the uneasy thoughts bugging his head for god knows how long, Adrian reached to Su Yin's side as he inquired in a low voice.
"Why did you take so long? I was worried about you.."
Not interested in dwelling on the disturbing matter from earlier, Su Yin easily interjected with a question of her own as she took a step forward closing their distance. Adrian was at a loss staring at the faint curl of her perfectly defined red lips.
"Where's your friend?"
Darting his eyes to Su Yin's smiling face, Adrian tried to read her more than normal expression, alas, his efforts were all for naught. In the end, he didn't seem to find anything amiss that only increased his restlessness.
"He had something going on, so he left early.."
With her bright eyes sparkling under the dim lights of the corridor, Su Yin once again interrupted Adrian, not giving him a chance to speak anything regarding their earlier encounter with Luke. She was still embarrassed about it and that much was clear to him as well.
"Why are you standing here? Let's go celebrate.."
When Su Yin walked past him in a haste to escape from the situation at hand, Adrian called out to her in a slightly pleading manner.
"Yinyin.."
Turning around, Su Yin extended her palm for the man to grasp with a smile that was neither bright nor bleak, her tone soft and mellow like a song of the spring.
"Ad! Let loose, it's your birthday.."
