Chapter 323 - Like A Cheshire Cat

"Sera.."

Too shocked for words, an agonizingly sharp pain zapped through Lucifer as his heart ached, don't know why?

The man had no idea what was wrong or right, he didn't know if it was day or night, his head hurting like crazy. Lucifer's insides churned as the affliction became unbearable for him, and he snapped.

On the other hand, exhilaration was an understatement to describe Sera's feelings at the moment. She was beyond exhilarated, this was one of her biggest feats in racing and she was thrilled with this win. Her bright eyes sparkled like stars in the night sky, her face beamed like a beautiful flower as she smiled widely, from ear to ear.

A bunch of young people were clicking her pictures from the stands, snapping selfies with Sera in the background. They were all quite afar and couldn't reach her, without crossing the barrier that stood firmly separating the racetrack from the stands. It was very well designed for safety purposes, hence Xav and Maya too were still stuck leaving Sera alone with her Bugatti.

Still in a daze, Sera smiled to herself lost in a million thoughts when the red Ferrari's door slid open. Her eyes naturally landed on the silhouette emerging from inside, curiosity brimming in her eyes and on her face. She bit her lips waiting to see the man inside, her hands were sweating for no reason. Deep down she felt that it was weird.

As Lucifer felt his self-control diminishing, he held the steering wheel in a death grip and closed his eyes. Flashes of what happened on the racetrack surfaced along with Sera's smiling face, her flushed face, her giggles, her bell like laughter, everything flashed past him like a movie and his fingers loosened. The myriad of different images interlaced together creating a blurry effect, his head hurt and his breathing turned erratic.

A stinging pain rose from Lucifer's chest, as though someone was trying to rip his flesh and take out his heart. His gray eyes turned bloodshot.

Extending his hand, Lucifer unlocked the door with his trembling fingers, ignoring the nerve-wrenching pain he was feeling inside him, and stepped out. His step almost faltering.

Outside, Sera held her pendant that was dangling around her neck firmly as her eyes were glued to the Ferrari's opening door. The red crystal was glimmering brightly under the lights, it was especially eye-catching against her black outfit and fair hands.

So bright, that one could even notice the tiny speck of thorn uprooting from the stem of the red crystal rose. Breathtaking!

A squeaky clean black shoe was seen before a slender pair of legs wrapped in black emerged from the Ferrari. With hair slightly disheveled, the man looked wild and sexy, his gray eyes were steely cold as he glared at Sera's shocked front. His lips pursed into a line were thin and cold, not a hint of warmth on his handsome face that oozed manliness, radiance and sublimity.

"Lucifer...?"

Stunned by Lucifer's sudden appearance, Sera gasped raspily. Her heart ricocheting in her chest, she was scared to face the man. Her guilty conscience loomed the littlest sanity she could help foster in this kind of a situation. Her brain went blank.

Staring at the man ahead, Sera's already wide eyes were now wider than globes and her fingers tightened around the delicate pendant. It hurt her, she unconsciously lowered her hand and a drop of blood dripped down her forefinger.

However, Sera failed to notice the cut on her finger, but the man had observed every tiniest of her reactions. Lucifer even saw the droplets of blood and his expression turned icy old.

Marching forward in slow, wearing steps Lucifer finally stood a couple of steps away from Sera.

Excitedly Sera lunged forward to grab Lucifer when his hand suddenly stretched out stopping her, and she was left in bewilderment.

Few minutes ago

As the clearheaded Sera, who was dead focused on winning the race caught sight of something unusual from the corner of her eyes, her entire demeanor changed and a cold smile appeared on her angelic face, akin to a she-devil. She was never an unkind person, and this proved it to the T.

While driving Sera could faintly see a red dot like object from the windshield of her Bugatti. It was pointing towards the racetrack and sometimes moving towards the red Ferrari's tire's that was ahead her. However, she brushed it off and concentrated on the race. After taking a chase, she was now ahead of the Ferrari and other sports cars.

This time, Sera again spotted the same dot like thingy from the side mirror and her eyes flashed. She grasped the entirety of the situation and smiled widely like a Cheshire cat.

It was anything but a smile.

A bone-chilling devilish grin.

Thus, Sera forgot about the race and took a detour, just to save the ace racer who had impressed her. She wasn't aware of the racer's identity, nor she knew if he was a good person. Still, her conscience didn't let her avoid such a grave predicament of saving a life. She was just as kind as she was two years ago, when she had unknowingly helped Lucifer and dressed his wound.

That's how Sera was, pure at heart, like an angel sent from the heavens. Anyhow, she couldn't be trifled with just because of her kind soul. Since nobody could predict when she'd turn into a fierce she-devil from hell, out to take their souls.
