Chapter 335 - "M.. Mi.. Mia..!!"

In her state of trance, a blissful Sera completely forgot about Ethan Lee's existence.

The man was supposed to hop by the gallery to check upon the things regarding the launch, and partake in the meeting along with Xia Ruo Lan.

Lost in her own little world of fantasy and fairytale, Sera was like a small child as she waited humming a cheery tune.

Skipping about the whole place, Sera was waiting for the truck of movers which arrived at exactly thirty minutes after Lucifer's call. She was rendered by strange sensations.

A rush of exhilaration zapped through her.

An intrigued Sera quietly watched the sealed packages being carried inside the establishment by several men, they were dressed in uniforms.

Shortly after, a bespectacled man in blue blazer emerged out of a white car. He naturally stood out amongst other men, and called himself the in charge. His smile was polite, almost business like as he greeted Sera.

"Hello, Miss Lu.. Myself Mr Shen, pleased to meet you.. I'm responsible for the successful moving of your assets. And I was sent here by Mr Lucifer.."

"Thank you for your assistance Mr Shen.."

"No problem, Miss Lu.."

The movers were highly efficient, within minutes everything was brought inside the storage space of the gallery. After exchanging a few words, Sera thanked Mr Shen before he left with a lingering superficial smile.

Like a child excited on the most awaited morning of Christmas Eve, Sera was beyond enthusiastic as she happily ripped apart the covers of the packages to expose the precious paintings inside.

Smiling widely, Sera was all giddy as she opened the paintings one by one as though they were her Christmas presents sent by Santa Claus himself.

Without wasting any time, Sera carefully arranged the paintings to be displayed in an orderly fashion.

She had uncovered more than fifteen packages in less than an hour.

Meanwhile, Ethan Lee's car entered the driveway of White Meadow.

The man elegantly alighted from the black Maybach, he was attired in a gray suit looking suave. His short hair neatly cropped and styled, his black eyes shining.

"I hope I'm not late.. Xia Ruo Lan and Sera must be waiting!"

Straightening his suit, Ethan Lee's lips curled into a faint smile that could render any sane person insane. It was a very attractive and powerful smile.

Maintaining the killer smile, Ethan Lee took long strides towards the maindoor and disappeared inside.

At the storage room.

A thin layer of mist covered Sera's small forehead for she was alone in the almost dark and empty space working incessantly for nearly an hour.

Sera was no doubt exhausted.

However, the spirit of a zealous child danced inside Sera's entirety.

The intense joy that Sera was feeling right now was enough to overcome this exhaustion and she was filled with anticipation. Her eyes glowing with a flicker of light as bright as the sun.

There was no heater inside the storage room, even the temperature controller was set according to the correct requirements for storing the paintings. So, it was colder than average.

Still, it didn't dampen Sera's spirits as she continued with greater enthusiasm.

Sera was beside herself, thinking about Lucifer and his way of tending to her needs and doting on her. Her man was the best.

Standing across the pile of packages placed on a large table, Sera reached out to retrieve one.

This was slightly heavier than the others Sera had dealt with. So, she used both her hands to pick it up and cautiously tore the packing. She was curious to see what's inside. Slowly, the brown cover came out followed by the bubble wrap.

A pristinely shiny glass frame came into Sera's view, almost blinding. It was glittering in the dimly lit room.

Turning over the heavy but stunning frame to one side, Sera's starry gaze met with a beatific smiling face.

It was a portrait.

Portait of a young girl.

A spotless white one-shoulder flowy gown was wrapped delicately around the angel like girl. She was leaning against a white swing, the background was a lush garden with trees. There was greenery everywhere.

The girl had beautiful golden locks resembling liquid gold, they were curly and styled into a simple hairstyle, adding a softer look. The pair of soul-sucking, large green eyes stared straight into Sera's dilated pupils, as though seeing through her entire being. The girl's kissable pink lips were curled into a spellbinding smile that could easily rob one's senses.

There was a familiar looking rose pattern at the right most corner of the painting. It was the signature of the artist. The small impression clearly indicating that this is indeed a work of the mysterious painter ROSE.

"Uh? This.."

Rendered immobile, Sera glared at the girl's face like a soulless statue with widened eyes, her hands holding the painting shivered uncontrollably. Her whole body shook like a fallen yellow leaf.

Sera's brain was nothing but a mush of waste. She was totally blank.

Tears welled up in Sera's eyes.

She had no idea why she was crying, or if she was really crying or not.

She had no clue.

She was like a broken machine.

A lifeless body, soul less and empty.

With trembling pale lips, Sera was as white as a sheet as she glared unblinkingly at the painting. Large beads of sweat trickled down the sides of her face and her forehead. Her legs turned to jelly while her back was soaked. She was covered in buckets of cold sweat.

Parting her lips, Sera stuttered in an almost inaudible voice. She sounded like an innocent toddler who was just learning to speak.

"M.. Mi.. Miaa..!!"

Glued onto the same spot, Sera had no consciousness of her surroundings, her vision gradually blurred the sight in front of her.

The beautiful face was getting distant.

Still, a few images flashed past her hazy eyes. They lapsed with the images of her past and present, creating a vicious circle of hypnotical spirals.

And Sera's eyes lost sight, the light blurred into nothingness and her surroundings turned pitch black.

Sera fainted.

*thud* *crash*

The thick glass frame in Sera's hands fell as her body landed on the cold ground, a soft thudding sound followed by a loud crash. The frame split into two pieces, the painting inside was undamaged and still smiling.

Fortunately, there were no major injuries as Sera fell on the other side slightly further than the painting. The minute remains of the glass tore through the skin of her palms and hand.

On the other hand, Ethan Lee was disappointed to find that Xia Ruo Lan had left. He called her assistant Wang Fang who informed him that the meeting was already finished. With a sulky face, he proceeded to look for Sera.

An anxious Ethan Lee was relentlessly calling Sera's phone after searching through each and every corner of the gallery. To his dismay, it was unreachable. Her car was still parked in the driveway.

The tense expression plastered across Ethan's face intensified with each passing second. He was beyond worried for Sera's safety.

The nervous man was shaking in his shoes awashed with a sea of disquieting.

Catching his breath, Ethan dashed towards the only room which he hadn't searched for - the storage room.

As soon as his feet touched the ground of the dimly lit room, Ethan's heart throbbed in his throat, threatening to fall out. His huge eyes bulged out as he cried out in agitation and leapt forward. His face whiter than a sheet, and hands trembling.

"Seraaaa!!"

Rushing forward, Ethan's knees gave up halfway as he knelt on the ground and swooped Sera into his arms. Her lifeless pallid face was a fresh stab to his heart, his chest tightened.

Eventually, Ethan's eyes were watery black pools, his back shuddered as he called out to her like crazy. His trembling heart palpitating violently against his chest, like an untamed stallion left in the wilds.

At a loss, Ethan clumsily picked Sera into his arms, in haste and sighed softly.

Staring down, Ethan's trembling fingers tenderly grazed Sera's drained face, longingly.

Suddenly, Ethan's tender eyes turned gloomy. His gaze darkened like black clouds on an ominous stormy night.

From the corner of his eyes, Ethan caught sight of a face that he was conversant with, even in his dreams.

He could never forget her.

As though hit with lightning, the pale faced Ethan gasped in utter shock.

"Mia??"

Recomposing himself, Ethan first brought Sera out of the storage space taking each step with great care. God knows how scared he was. He gently lowered her onto the couch, his face was laced with worry as he stared at her hand that was bleeding.

Fishing out his phone, Ethan immediately called his personal doctor and assistant Chen.

With a plop, Ethan sat on the cramped space beside Sera, his hands were on his face as he tiredly rubbed his face. He looked defeated and powerless.

After a beat, Ethan Lee dialed a familiar number. He held his breath waiting for the call to connect.

"Hello? Lucifer?"
