Chapter 340 - His Love Boundless

At the reception area of the hospital.

Leaning against an obscure wall, away from the prying eyes, Ethan Lee was on a phonecall.

Ethan came to know that whatever happened today, it was actually a goof up from Lucifer's side.

The housekeeper of the Chung's manor had mistakenly put Mia's painting that was stored aside in the pile to be transported to Sera's gallery. Thus, leading to such a blunder.

Lucifer hadn't shared his past with Sera which clearly means he has no intention of dragging her into his problems. So, there was no way in hell that he'd brandish Mia's portait to Sera.

Even though they - Ethan and Lucifer - have no idea what happened back at the gallery, they were never intending to open up to Sera about Mia, or their past.

Although they were curious, they thought it's good that Sera doesn't remember anything. It's a relief.

"Did you clear up the scene? Don't leave anything suspicious, take away that portrait and fix it before bringing it to the mansion.."

With just a few instructions for the other party, Ethan hung up and turned around.

The man, as though struck with lightning froze when his eyes landed on a familiar figure at the entrance of the hospital.

A frantic looking Xia Ruo Lan was seen rushing to the receptionist.

A glint flashed past Ethan's obsidian eyes.

"Excuse me.."

Clutching her bag tightly in her hand, Xia Ruo Lan started glancing at the beautiful receptionist. Worry, clear on her slightly pale face.

"Ruo Lan!"

Before Xia Ruo Lan could finish her words, Ethan appeared before her.

"Oh! Ethan.. Sera? How.. How is she? I heard from your assistant.."

As though a huge stone had been lifted off her chest, Xia Ruo Lan glanced at Ethan in relief.

Instinctively, Xia Ruo Lan reached out to hold Ethan's arms as she sputtered.

Xia Ruo Lan was feeling apologetic for ditching Sera earlier in the day to attend an emergency meeting. So, she decided to have a lovely dinner with her tonight as compensation, as well as to catch up with her new friend.

However, Xia Ruo Lan couldn't reach Sera's cellphone. Thinking that Ethan might still be with the latter at the gallery, she called him. Even he didn't answer her calls.

Feeling dubious about the whole situation, Xia Ruo Lan finally resorted to Assistant Chen, who informed her about Sera's hospitalization.

"Calm down, she's alright.."

Clasping the hand that was holding his arm in a vice like grip, Ethan squeezed it gently.

"Thank God!"

As the words fell into her ears, Xia Ruo Lan blew a sigh, almost leaning in Ethan's arms. Her knees wobbly.

"You look stressed. C'mon, let's get out from here.."

Tucking away the strands covering Xia Ruo Lan's face, Ethan pointed put as he stared at her white face. She looked tired. He gently yanked her towards the exit.

"But Sera..?"

Pausing in her steps as Ethan pulled her outside, Xia Ruo Lan hesitated.

"She's resting. You can't see her even if you go now.."

Ethan snaked his arm around Xia Ruo Lan's frail shoulders as he explained her the situation.

"Oh!"

Seeing how his words had an effect on Xia Ruo Lan who uttered a monosyllable in daze, Ethan smiled to himself.

"Yeah, I'm famished.. Buy me something delicious to eat"

"Ah~ Why should I?"

"Aish~ Miss Xia, you're still so petty.."

"Hmph!"

"Don't 'hmph' me!"

Bickering and bantering childishly, the two friends disappeared out of the hospital doors as their voices faded into a distance.

Inside the ward.

Pouting her pale lips, Sera leaned weakly against the headboard of the hospital bed with a pillow supporting her back. She was alone.

After receiving a call from Adrian regarding some crucial matters, Lucifer excused himself and went out. Much to Sera's displeasure. She wanted to spend some more time with him, alone.

However, the man had asked the nurses to inform her parents that Sera's awake, and they can see her.

The three adorable elders of the Lu family accompanied Sera for some time. They fed her dinner and talked about trivial things before she felt uncomfortable and asked them to let her rest. She wanted to be alone.

Discombobulated, Sera had no idea why her heart was suddenly feeling uneasy, a dull ache lingering.

Sera's emotions were all over the place after she came to. She was troubled by Lucifer's uncertain and cold gaze, his insouciant behavior, his angry glaring gray eyes, his warmth less tone, his sudden shift in emotions and expressions. It was all foriegn to Sera. She'd never seen him like that, expressing so many negative emotions.

Lucifer was always gentle, caring and doting towards Sera, his love boundless.

Not being able to remember how she'd fainted and landed herself in the hospital like this, Sera scratched her head in agitation. She couldn't recall a thing, her head would hurt every time she put some strain, trying to remember. It was a huge pain in the neck. It was troubling her so much.

Feeling drowsy due to the medication she was forced to be taken after dinner, Sera closed her eyes to rest.

A number of strange images flashed past her as Sera closed her eyes, the frown deepened as she winced. She was sweating profusely. Her hands on the side were clutching the bedsheets tightly, her knuckles were as white as a sheet.

The disturbed expression on Sera's damp face deepened as she was about to dive deeper into the depths of her nightmares. She whimpered silently.

*knock* *knock*

Suddenly, Sera was jolted awake when there was a not-so-harsh pounding on the door.
