Chapter 373 - What A Girl

After fleeing from Anna Lu's interrogation Lu Jinan unexpectedly bumped into a familiar figure.

"Oh! Sorry.. I was in a hurry"

Turning to face the man, Lu Jinan cast a fleeting glance at him and apologized with an expressionless face.

While Lu Jinan was apologetic, the other party grinned widely at him wriggling his brows.

It was none other than Xav!

Seeing the vague expression of Lu Jinan as he had no recollection of their previous meeting at A Country, Xav enthusiastically introduce himself.

"Hi! Wsup man, you don't remember me? I'm Xav, your sister's bestfriend.."

The man was immaculately dressed in a classic navy suit with a bow tie and crisp white shirt underneath. He smiled brilliantly showing his even white teeth.

The word 'bestfriend' did ring a bell in Lu Jinan's head as he gave a small nod in response.

However, Lu Jinan's onyx like eyes flashed with surprise as he suddenly recalled the man with whom Maya was seen in front of the hotel that day. A frown colored his cold face.

Masking the hostility in his icy gaze and his tone Lu Jinan acted naturally as he asked, his gaze darting around.

"Right! Did you come here alone? Where's your companion?"

Not able to detect anything unusual from Lu Jinan's words or his stiff expression, Xav pointed at a corner.

"She's over there.. By the way, where's your sister? I was searching for her.."

Following the direction where Xav's long finger was pointing, Lu Jinan caught sight of a dazzling figure with a glass of wine in her hands.

Returning Xav's glance, Lu Jinan showed him the direction where Sera had headed along with his family.

"Oh, Sera.. She's with my parents, there, you can go ahead and meet them"

Patting Lu Jinan's shoulder, Xav thanked him as he made his way to the other side of the hall. His steps steady, his gait sexy and poised at the same time.

"Thanks man! I'll see you later.."

Squinting his eyes, Lu Jinan watched Xav's back till he disappeared completely from his view.

Lu Jinan turned around to glance at the corner where Maya was previously seen standing.

"Now where did she go?"

Rubbing his forehead tiredly, Lu Jinan mumbled to himself for Maya was missing again.

Meanwhile, bending behind the marble stone pillars and hiding from Lu Jinan's predatory gaze was Maya. Her chocolate brown orbs searched for Sera and Xav, while keeping herself away from her best friend's brother.

Maya looked absolutely gorgeous in a glitzy ombre sequined long dress with thin straps, and a v-neck. Her toned, long legs peeking through the slit shone beautifully attracting glances from randy men, and envious women.

Coming out of the obscure pillars behind the golden silk curtains, Maya passed through a corridor that led to washrooms.

Pushing open the door to the washroom, Maya entered inside and slammed her clutch on the countertop. She gazed at her fine reflection in the mirror, and faux sobbed. Her plum colored soft lips pouting pitifully.

Almost keeping herself from pulling her hair that are styled to the T, Maya cried in distress.

Feeling overwhelmed, Maya rambled about remembering her last encounter with Lu Jinan at the Lu mansion. The man had created a scene after seeing the 'golden paintbrush' of the legendary 'Artist ROSE' in Sera's hands.

"Ah~ Why did I forget about his existence?! He's Sera's brother! Obviously he's going to be here.. I'm so stupid! How can I keep my promise of not seeing him, and not having to do anything with him??!!"

Huffing and puffing after her monologue, Maya eventually managed to calm down and began touching up her makeup. She rummaged through her small clutch for her lipstick and re-applied it.

"Whatever! I'll.. I'll just act as though we're strangers.."

Shrugging her shoulders after smacking her lips loudly, Maya decided.

"In fact, we are strangers only.. Strangers who have kissed each other!!!"

As Maya was mumbling to herself, flashes of her and Lu Jinan kissing at the Han's auction surfaced through her eyes making her gasp.

"Oh no.. This is bad, it's really really bad.. I can't let Sera know of this! She will.. She'll definitely make fun of me.. And her brother, he'll probably laugh at me too.."

With a hand on her cheek, Maya shook her head in slow-mo while she imagined the consequences of letting the cat out of the bag. She didn't wish to expose whatever embarrassing episodes she'd had with Lu Jinan previously to anyone.

Not even to her bestfriend, Sera or her own brother, Xav!

"What about my brother? Xav is going to react the worse.. Oh God! Please, please save me.."

Clutching her hands together, Maya raised her head as though she's looking at the sky through the ceiling. Her soft voice had a hint of pleading.

After what seemed like half a day had passed, Maya sauntered out of the washroom and towards the elevators when a voice called out to her.

"Stop right there!"

A chill crawled on Maya's spine, she felt icy cold eyes staring at her back and her body went stiff. She didn't dare move.

However the warning in the tone was clear to Maya, it compelled her to turn around and face the man.

"Oh damn!"

As soon as Maya turned, Lu Jinan's striking face with a cold expression greeted her sight and she cursed out loud.

All of Maya's resolve to ignore Lu Jinan like he was air and move on vanished, like fine sand it slipped right through her fingers and crumbled on the glittery glass floor. Her heart was on the verge of bursting from anxiety.

Before Lu Jinan could react to her words, Maya unclipped and threw her chunky stone like bracelet on his face. He caught the heavy bracelet as it hit his forward before wincing in pain.

"Hey! You.."

Just in time, the elevator doors opened and Maya hurriedly zoomed inside without any second thoughts. She disappeared like magic leaving Lu Jinan alone in the corridor.

"What a girl!"

Eyeing the glittering bracelet in his hand, Lu Jinan sighed, his forehead twitched in pain. He shook his head, muttering softly and rubbed the spot on his forehead where Maya had aimed the bracelet.
