Chapter 432 - Family Time

Inside his spacious office, a strange feeling slowly crept up Lucifer's whole being, like his heart was being pulled apart and blood was leaking out of his chest. The agonizing sensation made him uncomfortable to the core. His agitated gaze staring outside the floor-to-ceiling windows.

At a loss, Lucifer darted a glance at his idle mobile phone on the large and uncluttered desk. His fingers almost touched the cold surface of the phone, debating whether to pick it up or not.

After a long while, Lucifer leapt to grab the phone. His slender fingers flew speedily as he checked his call log and new messages.

Nada! Not a single call or message from his beloved, Sera..

Staring at the string of numbers on the screen, Lucifer rubbed his lower lip with his index finger as he contemplated inwardly. His fingertip fell lightly onto the dial option and the call connected in no time.

Bating his breath, Lucifer's steely gray orbs narrowed slightly, waiting for the call to be answered. Alas, the call went unanswered as Sera was in a deep slumber much to the man's disappointment.

Suddenly there was a familiar sound of ringing, Lucifer jumped in his seat as he answered the landline. His handsome face lit up.

The man's voice filled with anticipation was heard.

"Hello.."

On the other hand, Zhang Lili tentatively cast a glance at the number to confirm that it was Lucifer. Zhang Lili had never heard him sound so enthusiastic.

"Mr Lucifer? It's me.. Zhang Lili. I actually wanted to know if you have time. I mean.. Let's have dinner tonight. If you're free, of course."

With Liu Chenmin constantly prodding by the side, Zhang Lili finally opened up albeit reluctantly.

"Why not, Miss Zhang. The pleasure is all mine!"

A chill flashed past Lucifer's silvery gray orbs as he sweetly replied. His lips curved subtly to form a bone-chilling smile.

As though zapped with lightning, Zhang Lili froze. She blinked multiple times trying to percieve Lucifer's answer to her question

"Oh, really? Okay.. I'll be waiting then!"

Nodding her head, Zhang Lili smiled wryly as she said.

By the time Sera roused from her slumber, the sun was already at it's peak, shining to brilliance. The curtains were closed to let her sleep in peace.

Groggy from sleep, Sera's fragile body felt lighter than cotton. She slowly sat up. Her eyes crystal clear as she looked around the room in confusion. She remembered calling for help, her head no longer in pain.

Spotting her cellphone, Sera extended her hand to anxiously pick it up.

"What are you doing?"

Just as Sera's fingers were about to reach the cellphone, a deep voice reverberated startling her. She turned her head to see Lu Jinan advancing towards her with a warm smile. He was dressed in a light gray suit looking prim and proper. His short black hair styled neatly.

"Brother?! You.. How?"

Open-mouthed, Sera stared at her brother grinning warmly at her as he approached. Shock evident in her beautiful pair of black eyes.

"How do you feel? I heard you were feeling unwell.."

Perching on the edge of the bed, Lu Jinan questioned with a gentle voice. His gaze never leaving Sera's small face. A stifling in his chest. The fear of losing her lingering in his heart.

"I'm.. I feel alright.."

Clearing her throat, Sera smiled sheepishly as she answered, her head lowered.

"Silly girl.. You don't have to hide anything from me! Mom and Dad are waiting for you.."

Chuckling, Lu Jinan fondly caressed Sera's hair as he gazed at her with affection filled eyes. He stood up to leave.

"Uh? Me.."

Still a little out of it, Sera dumbly stared at Lu Jinan while pointing a finger to herself.

An amused laughter escaped Lu Jinan's mouth who stood by the door, rubbing his left brow. A twinkle in his obsidian-dark irises.

"Yes, now stop dilly-dallying! Get changed and come downstairs.. We have a surprise for you!"

Nodding his head, Lu Jinan walked back to Sera who was still dazed as he patted her head. Her face brightened up instantly as she nodded her head akin to a kid excited for candy.

"Uhm.. Okay, I'll be there in a jiffy!"

Shortly after, Sera arrived dressed prettily in a gorgeous pink dress that reached her knees. Her luscious dark locks gracefully cascaded down her shoulders, tiny strands framing her clean face with just a layer of rose on her cheeks and pink lips.

"Mom? Dad?!"

Dumbstruck by the scene before her, Sera stared at her parents dressed to the T as they stood in the middle of the living room with her brother, Lu Jinan and Aunt Zhou.

In a royal blue colored suit, Francis Lu was seen affectionately holding his wife, Lu Shanshan's attired in a blue qipao to match her husband. The couple's gaze transfixed on their lovely daughter descending the staircase.

Letting go of her husband, Lu Shanshan cast him a dirty look before rushing to her daughter, Sera.

"My precious.. Mom has been neglecting you. Come here, let me see my precious baby!"

Gently cupping Sera's cheek, Lu Shanshan pouted her red mouth like a pitiful child as she uttered. Almost tearing up.

"Mom! I'm fine.."

Shaking her head, Sera mumbled afraid that her mother would start crying, as usual.

"Yes, Shanshan.. Don't bother my brave daughter.."

Taking a step forward, Francis Lu placed his hand on Lu Shanshan's shoulder in a bid to appease her. His fatherly gaze filled with love darted to Sera who was smiling like a fragrant flower in bloom.

"Hmph!"

Shrugging Francis Lu's hand off her shoulder, Lu Shanshan harrumphed feigning anger. It was all Francis Lu's fault for pestering Lu Shanshan that she ended up neglecting her precious daughter. She was really upset, especially after seeing Sera look so weak. Her heart ached for her daughter.

"Sera, you should fill your stomach first.. Dad will take you out to have fun today!"

Smiling helplessly at his wife's behavior, Francis Lu turned to Sera who was stifling her laugh, just like Lu Jinan at the back.

"Huh? Fun..?!"

Ceasing her laughter, Sera quizzed with her brows raised.

"Yup! It's family time.."

Nodding his head, Lu Jinan stood before Sera, hugging his parents with side as he announced cheerfully.
