Chapter 8: Level 1 Wolf
[It is detected that the host is about to get out of temporary safety, and face the apocalypse head on. For that reason, the system is willing to give the host several important tips.]
Henry immediately stopped opening the door. But after thinking once more, he couldn't help but question in his mind, 'Is it possible for you to give me the tips as I continue moving?'
What he was now afraid of was that, the system prompts would hinder his vision. If that happened, he wouldn't even know how he died the moment that he stepped out of the room.
[The screen is transparent.]
That single reply left Henry's speechless. In the end, he could only nod his head as it was actually true.
Shaking his head to dispel the thoughts that had already began forming, he turned and looked at Adam who was just standing behind him.
"Let's get going." Immediately after he said that, he opened the door and peeped outside. He had to make sure that there was no sign of danger before they step out of the room.
After continuously confirming that there was no any kind of wolf or any other creature that could pose danger for them, he nodded to Adam and the two of them rushed out of the room.
At the same time, several system prompts began appearing.
[In the apocalypse, strength is the king, but wit is the queen, so, don't ignore it. It doesn't matter if the host is facing human beings or other apocalyptic creatures. But, the host has to be vigilant in front of any type of creature in the apocalypse.]
[Resources are always important in the apocalypse. As such, the host has to try and collect as many resources as possible as long as an opportunity presents itself.]
[In this apocalypse, killing other creatures will immediately strengthen the killer. As such, the system advises the host to kill as many apocalyptic creatures as possible so that he can get stronger.]
[There are several types of resources that are present in the apocalypse. As such, the host will have to exploit new areas that have appeared in the apocalypse or, be ready to collect those that have been dropped after killing apocalyptic creatures.]
When it reached this point, Henry's eyes immediately shone as he looked back at the area where he had killed several wolves.
Even though he was tempted to go back and look for what had been dropped, he immediately gave up on that idea as there was no different from courting death.
With the loud noise that had been caused by the gunfire, there would definitely be several wolves that would be arriving there soon. So, it was better for them to get out of that place as soon as possible.
[Apart from that, the host should also try and create a base where he can handle everything about him. Fellow humans are also part of the resources that the host should collect. In the apocalypse, it is difficult to survive alone.]
[On the other hand, there is one of the abilities that has been presented to the host by the system. That is the upgrade function. As long as the host has the required materials, anything can be upgraded at a certain cost.]
But, the massive size of the wolf's body, accompanied by the ferociousness that was present inside the eyes of the wolf were very intimidating.
Henry didn't contemplate too much about this. So, the moment that the wolf appeared in front of him, he only did a casual observation before he pulled the trigger.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Since he was getting a strange feeling from the monster in front of him, Henry didn't hesitate to pull the trigger three consecutive times.
And true to his feelings, the wolf in front of him acted in a strange way. Unlike the other wolves that only knew about charging forward to kill, this wolf actually knew about dodging.
Had it been facing an experienced soldier, perhaps it might have gotten a chance to be able to escape from the bullets. But the person in front of it was Henry, a person who had been granted the very best level of skills that enabled him to become the very skilled person in terms of shooting in the human race.
So, although the wolf attempted to dodge, the bullets that were shot by Henry couldn't be evaded. This was simply because, before he pulled the trigger, Henry had already detected that it was going to make a movement.
As such, each bullet that he shot went along a certain trajectory, so that it would manage to hit the wolf that was moving. In front of Henry's eyes, the wolf was not different from the moving targets that he had encountered inside the space where he was training.
In fact, the moving targets that he was using to train during the final minutes were making faster and unpredictable movements. As such, it was much harder for him to hit the target. But even so, out of 10 bullets that he shot, he managed to hit the target three times.
The wolf's movement froze for a moment before it finally collapsed onto the ground. It was dead after taking three bullets on its head, one on the forehead, and other two directly into the eyes.
Due to the short distance, the momentum of the bullet was almost at maximum level. As such, the wounds that had been formed on the head of the wolf was fatal.
[Congratulations host for killing a level 1 mutant creature. The system suggests that the host should dig out a mutant crystal out of the head of the wolf that he has killed.]
Henry didn't need a reminder as he was already in the move. He completely ignored the stunned Adam and used his right hand to poke into the wolf's head.
He came Into contact with the blood, and it was still warm as the wolf had just died some minutes ago.Currently, his fingers had come into contact with the brain matter of the wolf that had already been blown into shreds by the bullets.
After some time of scrambling around, his fingers finally touched something hard. Without hesitation, Henry immediately pulled it out.
It was like a small bead that was red in color. Furthermore, it was giving a shining red glow that dulled out a few seconds after he dug it out of the head.
"What the heck is that?" Adam who had been curious about what Henry was doing, couldn't hold in his curiosity anymore and questioned.
"A mutation crystal." Henry replied as he stared at the small bead that was just the size of his thumbnail. Just as he was about to continue observing it, he suddenly heard a few loud footsteps that were heading their way.
He came back to his senses and remembered that they were currently not in a safety place. So, he looked at Adam and the two of them immediately left the area, heading to the gate while using the buildings as cover.
