Chapter 24: System Upgrade Function

Chapter 24: System Upgrade Function

"We are going back to the facility. But, we will have to make some preparations first." Henry stated as he looked towards a group of cars. He had decided that it was finally time to start utilizing the full capabilities of the system that had been granted to him.

"Henry, what are you thinking? You know that it is going to take us a very long period of time to get back to the facility. And when we get there, we will have already spent a lot of energy. How are we supposed to face the monster tide in our fatigued state?" Adam asked with a frown on his face.

Even Sarah had the same thoughts as Adam. But, she didn't say anything as she waited for Henry's response. Since she was granted the opportunity to become who she currently is by Henry, then, she was definitely going to follow what he was going to plan.

Even though she was not good at attacking, that didn't mean that she was completely useless. In the future, during the time that Henry might have established his base, then, during faction wars, that would be the time that her skills would be very important.

"I know that. That is the reason as to why we have to make some preparations." Henry replied nonchalantly.

At the same time, he began communicating with the system. 'System, I am intending to upgrade a vehicle. How much will it cost me?'

That's right. Henry had finally decided to start upgrading a vehicle that they could use to get back to the facility. He didn't want just a simple upgrade, but instead, he wanted the vehicle to be capable of doing a lot more than just running around faster.

[The upgrade depends on something that the host decides on. With each upgrade, there is a particular price that has to be paid in terms of mutation crystals.]

Henry gazed towards the parking area where there were several cars that had been parked there. But, his eyes landed on a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara.

Even though there were several other cars that seemed to be better than the Jeep, Henry didn't even try considering them. At the end of the day, sport cars might be fast, but that was only on an even surface road.

But in the apocalypse, he might be forced to drive the vehicle even inside a forest. And, a sports car was definitely going to be a burden to him.

'System, I want to take over this car. But, I don't have the keys.' Henry muttered in his heart. Thê source of this content n/o/v/(el)bi((n))

[The host can purchase anything from the system.]

With a simple reminder from the system, Henry entered the system store again. He then used the search function to look for a key to the vehicle. And after a moment, he finally got something that attracted his attention.

That was, a master key to all vehicles. It didn't matter if they were saloon cars, or heavy commercial trucks. As long as one possessed this key, it can open any door of a vehicle.

As for the price of the key, it only cost 15 mutation crystals. Even though the price might seem high for a key, this was definitely a very low price to pay.

Inside the container, Henry found out that there was iron bars. There was nothing else other than that. Shaking his head in disappointment, Henry turned around and headed for another container.

One by one, the group began opening the cargo containers. After about 5 minutes, they had managed to open almost 30 containers. And within these containers, only two of them contained what they wanted. But still, that was still enough.

It was steel and copper that had been found. As for what all these were used in this facility, Henry had no information about that.

As they began transporting the steel and copper, Sarah was given the task of trying to look and see if there was a rubber present in the containers. In the port, there were hundreds of containers that were yet to be unsealed.

Since it was not anything difficult for them to load these things, they were able to take them into the jeep that had been driven over.

Just after they were done with that, Sarah informed them that she had found where rubber was. With everything finally set, Henry set his eyes on the number of mutation crystals that was required.

[Current mutation crystals balance is 7441.]

As dawn approached, the number of level 1 apocalyptic creatures they had encountered had increased. For that reason, they had managed to kill 23 more. Together with their bodies, Henry was able to get 46 mutation crystals.

With the conversion, he was able to get 4,600 unranked mutation crystals. Just this was enough for Henry. As for the unranked apocalyptic creatures that they had killed, the number was above 300.

The bodies added with the ones that had been killed by the security team, were also taken by Henry. With that, his mutation crystal balance was always high.

Without hesitation, Henry gave the instruction for the car to be upgraded. Although it was going to cost him 5,000 mutation crystals, he didn't hesitate at all.

With the coming of the monster tide, he would be able to get a large number of mutation crystals as long as he managed to stay alive. As for the car, this was the first time that he was upgrading anything, then, he wanted to see the results.

In order to get out of the island, and get past the ocean which was filled with aquatic animals, Henry knew that they had to make enough preparations. In case they were going to use a ship to get out of here, then, that ship had to be upgraded.

The moment Henry gave the instruction, a red light suddenly appeared out of nowhere and enveloped the whole vehicle. As for what was happening inside the sphere that had been formed, none of them who were outside could tell.

Adam couldn't help but gulp again. He was now wondering just how many professions Henry possessed. As for what was happening to the vehicle, that was something that he didn't know. So, he curiously waited for the red sphere that was around the vehicle to disappear.

Just after 5 minutes, the red sphere that was surrounding the vehicle began to dissipate. And with its disappearance, a brand new vehicle appeared in front of their eyes.
