Chapter 149: 6) The Zhao family

Aside from Wang, a few more duels took place, however, Bai Lung had already got all the information he needed.

He could see through Wang as if he was reading the book, a new protagonist, reincarnated with the system who has yet to learn the techniques and stuff.

---

Meanwhile, all the servants who took part in the duel were excited in hopes of getting chosen.

They wanted to serve the emperor and empire, not to mention it was an opportunity for them to rise from servant to something else.

However, one thing keeps bugging them...

Even their legendary Ancestor was behaving like a respectful underling!

Just who was the youth?

It was all an unimaginable matter for them — something they had never imagined to see in all of their life. For them, the Bai family is something unheard of.

Aside from four families in the East Mountains and Heaven Fall sect, these servants are unknown to the outer world.

"Old Man Zhao, you should deal with your matters without worrying about my presence, I don't wish to bother any of you with things related to me,"

Bai Lung said with a casual smile. He was very interested in the progression of the current situation, as everything had happened without him even needing to put on a false show of might.

Since he had nothing better to do at the moment, Bai Lung decided to take a stroll outside to view the scenery.

"Saintess, accompany me on a stroll,"

Bai Lung put down his tea cup, and stood up to leave hence all the duels were done.

Safe to say, no one impressed Bai Lung.

He had an indifferent yet amiable expression, without the slightest hint of arrogance, and that gave the people around him a more approachable feeling despite his cold heart.

It didn't feel like he was heavily disappointed in them.

Despite all this, everyone knew full well that the man in front of them was a supreme existence who couldn't be bothered about their insignificant existence so, they shouldn't get their hopes higher.

"Zhao Ling, you are familiar with the area, so why don't you accompany the Young Lord and show him around?"

The Patriarch of the Zhao Family suddenly spoke up and gave a command to his daughter who was standing near the Hall.

"U-Understood, Father!"

Zhao Ling immediately responded with a trembling voice. Her nervousness was through the roof at the moment, seeing the stoic Bai Lung who was as cold as ice.

Zhe was worried she might offend such a person.

Originally, Bai Lung didn't care much about having a guide, but when he took a look at the one who would accompany him, his eyes lit up.

In front of him stood a stunning beauty!

With a thin layer of makeup to accentuate her features, she looked like a Fairy. Her skin shimmered under the light, and her hair fell behind her and flew around like clouds. The loose robe she wore could not hide her tall and curvaceous figure that made heat rise inside a man's body.

Of course, she was a diamond among coals, the female lead.

At the same time,

It wasn't called East Mountains of Wilderness for no reason.

Walking beside Bai Lung, Zhao Ling tried her best to make small talk, but her nerves were still high due to being in his presence.

She had never felt this intimidated before, and the aura that radiated off of him was unlike anything she had ever experienced.

It was like being in the presence of a dragon... powerful, unyielding, and unapproachable.

She just glanced at her best friend helplessly.

As they continued walking, Bai Lung stole glances at Zhao Ling, taking in her delicate features and slender figure. Despite her seemingly fragile appearance, he could sense a strength within her that was not obvious.

He knew she had to have some remarkable talent or skill in order to be assigned as his guide, because he knew this wasn't a simple guide.

Who even needs a guide to have a small walk in a garden when one wants do have a small break.

It's clear, Zhao patriarch is playing some big game, handing his daughter like this... Not to mention, as a female lead she must have some cards up her sleeve.

"You must be quite talented to be assigned as my guide," Bai Lung said casually, finally breaking the silence.

His words caught Zhao Ling off guard, and she looked up at him with wide eyes, surprised that he had addressed her directly.

"I-I-I'm not that talented..."

Zhao Ling stumbled over her words, feeling even more nervous now that he was talking to her directly.

Her hands trembled slightly, and she clenched them tightly behind her back in an attempt to hide her nervousness.

It was a awkward situation.

Bai Lung smirked at her response. He could see through her pretense, and he found it amusing how easily she was affected by his presence.

"Nonsense. Your skills are remarkable. I can sense it,"

"Hmph!"

The person who hmphed was none other that Saintess.

Someone sure is jealous.

At the same time,

Zhao Ling's heart skipped a beat at his words, and she felt a sudden burst of warmth in her chest.

She had never received this kind of compliment before, especially not from someone as powerful as Bai Lung, the only person who compliment her was her brother.

"T-Thank you for your kind words, Young Lord," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

"There is no need to be so formal. You may call me Young Master Bai or you can simply call my name," Bai Lung said, his tone slightly amused.

Zhao Ling felt her heart start racing at his words.

Calling him by his name was a privilege that not many could enjoy.

"O-Okay," Zhao Ling said softly, her mind racing. It was a strange feeling, addressing someone as powerful as him with such familiarity but she simply stocked to Young Master Bai.

They continued walking in silence for a while, the sound of the waterfall growing louder and louder as they drew closer to it.
