"Soon, we will have since the gems of the monsters are pretty and valuable, and mine are more valuable since they are flawless and never get any damage when taking them from the bodies of the monsters," Aion replied. "Other families will want to obtain them and offer products instead of gold alone, and they will use ships for that."
"You really thought things through…" Artemisia said. "You need to use that brain of yours to find a girlfriend as soon as possible.".
Just as Aion had predicted, over the next few weeks, he received letters from all kinds of people who wanted to do business with him. Nobles, merchants, mages… he answered a lot of letters, but he only accepted a few proposals since his territory didn't need much, and he mainly wanted gold. While he was answering one of those, Rarth showed up at his office.
"Master Aion, we found a problem," Rarth said. "There is a huge rock blocking the path of the channel. Digging won't solve the problem since it is too big."
The people of the Rosberg kingdom called their leaders or bosses masters… Even when they never taught them anything. Aion felt weird being called like that, but he couldn't, or perhaps he shouldn't try to correct the way of life of other people when they weren't doing anything bad.
"Let's take a look at it," Aion said.
Aion made Rarth and the others dig the channel through the shortest path possible to the town, so it wasn't surprising that they would find some obstacles. In any case, Aion didn't pay much attention lately to the channel, but he was surprised to see that Rarth and his friends managed to finish one-third of the channel in just six months. In any case, they found a large rock and dug around, but it seemed that they only uncovered the top of the rock, even though the channel was three meters deep…
"Digging around truly won't solve the problem… A rock this big can't be moved using normal means," Aion said.
Aion couldn't move a rock that big with his magic… at least not directly. After changing his class to Necromancer and then summoning the magic staff, Aion touched the boulder and then began to focus. Ice began to cover the whole thing, and thanks to that. He managed to finally learn how big that thing was… it was at least fifty meters tall and thirty long… too big to even be moved… Despite that, Aion managed to cover the whole boulder with his magic and made the ground tremble while he was trying to make that emerge from the ground. Using so much mana at once made Aion feel a terrible headache, but it soon disappeared. He was used to using all his mana while he was filling the wells of the town.
After not so long, Rarth and the others saw that rock floating and being moved to the side of the area, but not too far away… the idea that they picked a fight with someone that could do that made them sweat cold.
Aion managed to use eighty percent of his mana to make the whole boulder get out of the way, but the problem wasn't over yet. Now the channel had a massive hole around it. Aion meditated for a while to recover his mana and then covered the whole by creating earth with magic.
"... We are grateful for the help, master," Rarth said.
"Don't mention it," Aion said. "I guess we can use that huge boulder to make the bricks for the bridge. It might be a bit too soon for that, but I guess I will make them already."
Whenever Aion used the Necromancer class, he felt his body getting heavy since he didn't have a single point in endurance and strength. However, in exchange for that, he managed to make ice saw, make it spin, and then cut the rock into numerous pieces until only a massive pile of bricks above each other was ready to be used.
"Call me again if you find another problem," Aion said.
"Yes, sir," Rarth asked.
Aion thought of asking about what happened to master, but he decided to leave that alone. While he was heading home, Aion saw a group of horses crossing the gate and he recalled those from a few weeks ago… the messenger was back.
"I hope they won't come to bother me again with their nonsense," Aion said.
When Aion got home and approached the office, he heard a deep sigh. When he opened the door, he found a tired Artemisia and a nervous messenger. Aion heard that it was normal for messengers in times of war to be killed when they were sent to other nations, but only to other nations, so his apprehension seemed a bit misguided.
Artemisia didn't say anything, she only passed the letter to Aion, and he began to read it. Essentially, they wrote that they could offer him one hundred gold coins, and that was their final answer, if he didn't accept, they would report to the king that he wasn't managing the lands properly and ask him to hand those over for the development of the kingdom… they sure had some balls. Apparently, they didn't think that Aion wouldn't invade their lands and trash things around since they were supposed to be allies.
"Tell your masters this: you guys are lucky that my mother was around when I sent this message, so I am minding my language. I will only say this: fuck off!" Aion said.
"... Yes, my lord," The messenger said and then left in a hurry.
Aion was pretty sure that he wouldn't say the exact same words. Regardless, while Aion considered attacking those guys for saying nonsense, that would probably be too much. He had to be smarter than that.
"The reports that you asked for a few months ago are ready, Aion," Artemisia said with a cold smile. "About the low lives of this kingdom. The timing is good to put them to good use, don't you think?"
"Yes… your smile is scaring me, though," Aion said.
"That is because I recalled how life in the castle was… we had to do a lot of things behind the scenes…" Artemisia said.
