Chapter 127 Bait

Name:The Supreme Level Up System Author:
Although the army of the region hadn't been decimated during the battle, a lot of the survivors were heavily wounded. So, before putting any operation into practice, those three decided to wait for at least one day to get some reinforcements. Thanks to that, Aion couldn't help but sigh when he saw the two youngest of Aion's sisters. They were still studying magic, so it couldn't be helped.

Elvera and Nanda were also surprised when they reported to Vanessa and found their brother there. Just like the other students, they were wearing blue robes, which was the uniform of the students. Regardless, Aion could see Nanda looked quite nervous, and she had some bags under her eyes. She was the youngest, and she looked even younger since she had short black hair and wore some accessories like a hairpin and colorful bracelets. Still, she looked ten years older due to the tension.

Elvera looked calmer to make sure that she would be ready to move at a moment's notice and that her hair wouldn't get in the way. She tied up her long, light brown hair in two braids. It was cute, but it didn't look like the hairstyle that someone that was going to join a battle should show.

"Aion… you came as well?" Elvera asked. "Are things fine in your territory? I didn't think that you would leave your mother behind to help."

"Everything is alright, and she has the protection of some others," Aion said. "You look nervous, Nanda… does father know that you two are here?"

"I am fine…" Nanda said while hiding a bit behind her sister. "Father is too busy. Most of the free soldiers headed west, so we need to help as much as possible."

Aion never noticed it, but Nanda feared him more than a bit. She never showed that before, probably because her other brothers and sisters were around when they met. Regardless, she was the youngest of the girls, so it made sense that she would be a bit more shy and fearful, considering that her old siblings always tried to hold her hand.

Aion wondered what he should say to them. It would sound quite arrogant to tell them not to put themselves in danger. While he came to prevent them from facing the archer and the swordsman, they were trained to fight in situations like this… even if situations like this are hard to come by for them.

In any case, Aion was starting to get the attention of their friends, so he decided to focus on the meeting with the others. He wasn't one of the guys leading the whole operation, but since he would be at the center, he would have to listen to the whole meeting.

"Now that we have a force of ten thousand soldiers, five thousand adventurers, and five hundred mages, we should work on the plan of taking back the city," Jagger said. "We need to be careful, but we can't waste too much time. Otherwise, the enemies will solidify their base on the city."

Aion wondered why Jagger was saying those numbers… he was probably trying to keep the morale high while mentioning even the wounded. It was clear that, at the very least, they won't be able to fight for at least one week, and one week they didn't have.

"We should use the mages the burn down one side of the walls. Even with five hundred of them, it will take a while for that to happen, and they will have to get close," Vanessa said. "Their spells are beyond the reach of ordinary arrows. While the enemies have the power to use bows with a longer reach, few of them actually use that."

"Still, we will need a diversion," Jagger said. "The archer and the swordsman can take down as many mages as they want while they approach."

It wasn't surprising that the archer could do that, but it was that the swordsman could. Aion only heard that he could cut anything, but not from a long distance. Aion imagined someone like his father and Vangel spawning that technique that fires some energy… still, that seemed weird since neither of them could use that skill more than five times.

"I can fly, and apparently, so does Aion," Vanessa said. "We can take some people with us to draw the attention of Urgren and Lurge. We will be surrounded by a lot of soldiers, but with the right people being the bait while the mages open a hole in the walls, we will be able to buy enough time."

"That won't be enough," Richard said. "Those two need to die. They might as well leave the bait alone and be surrounded by the soldiers of the city when they notice the mages approaching and attacking."

Richard was annoying, but he had a point. Those two waited for the right moment to join the war and even disappeared from the radar of the spies, and they were smart enough to pull that off and ignore their pride. Fortunately, Aion was informed that at least five hundred enemy soldiers were entering that city every day. With that in mind, it was hard to imagine that they still were keeping their soldiers apart. His town and the port were fine, so he could afford to change his classes once he used his magic to make sure that the enemies would have their focus on them.

"If we drop in a place with a lot of enemies, I can use all my mana to take a lot of enemies at the same time. That will make those two be wary of me, thinking that I can use that again and again," Aion said. "If they lose a few hundred of their soldiers at once, that will be a good enough bait."

The other three looked at each other. They knew about Aion's lineage, and Jagger and Vanessa fought many powerful mages in the war thirteen years ago. Still, they couldn't help but be wary that Aion could do that at such a young age… even when he still was considered a talented warrior.
