"Mom, do you really want to return home?" Aion asked the next day as soon as they finished their preparations to move.
"What kind of silly question is that?" Artemisia asked. "You must have thought of many dumb things while I wasn't looking."
"I am serious. You don't have to return to the cage that is that kingdom. If we disappear now, no one will be able to tell what happened," Aion said. "This is probably for the best as well."
"What about your siblings? The last years of hard work? What about those that decided to follow you?" Artemisia asked. "I knew that I couldn't hide some moments of sadness from you, but do you really think that my life there was that much miserable?"
"They can live their lives, and that won't kill them. As for the next question… Well, I was just thinking that it was one option," Aion said. "After this whole incident, I realized that no matter what we do, people will still fear us and make their own excuses to hate us as well, and might as well give them the reason to do both."
"You have spent too much time lately fighting," Artemisia said. "From my point of view, I think it is better to live a life without that kind of worry instead of falling to the level of the people who have their hearts and minds filled with hatred and jealousy. I would rather live a life where I know that I am doing my best without being a bother to anyone."
"If you truly think like that, then I won't pursue that subject anymore," Aion said.
"If you truly want to see me free of any worries or sadness, then you just get a girlfriend and show me your kid with her," Artemisia said while smiling.
"I think you are skipping a few important steps…" Aion said and then sighed.
"Be confident, Aion," Artemisia said. "That silver-haired girl is the perfect target. You are cool and handsome. If you smile at her a few times, then she is bound to fall in love with you."
"Target… at least mom does have confidence in my looks," Aion said and then shrugged.
Aion and Artemisia left the barrier and began to fly. He asked if Artemisia could use the method to fly, and she could, even though Earth magic wasn't her specialty. Thanks to that, they will be able to cut the traveling time a bit.
As expected, they had a bit of a hard time leaving the mountains thanks to the monsters, but Aion made it work by using his how. He increased his magic with that class for quite a bit with coins, so flying wasn't a problem. Aion expected his mother to ask him where he got the weapon, but when she wasn't busy controlling the platform, she was busy sleeping, using his back as support.
On that same day, Aion and his mother flew above the armed groups that he had seen the previous day. They still were looking for him… Or for the Sauros group. It was hard to say since Aion had no idea how important the old martial artist was. Regardless, Aion forgot to check, but the dragon had finally been processed. Aion got a shit ton of bones, scales, meat, claws, fangs, and a dragon heart. Aside from the mear, everything else could be used to refine his weapons…
Aion thought that eating the dragon heart might make him a bit stronger, but in the end, he could eat it whenever, but it was better to use it to reinforce the classes that still were n the first layer.
On the first layer. That being said, Aion might make a mistake and end up sacrificing to upgrade a class. So, he decided to eat it when his mother was sleeping at night. It didn't look tasty, so Aion decided to cook it. He wasn't good at that, so he almost burned it… it was also bigger than a full meal, so it took a while to eat it.
You obtained 10 status points.
When Aion checked it, he noticed that all of his classes got those points… that was quite delicious, to the point that Aion forgot how the dragon heart tasted. In any case, after four days, they were almost in the area the capital of the former Mileris kingdom was supposed to be, and he wondered what he should do…
"Mom, do you know if there is anything in your former hometown that the people of this country might want?" Aion asked. "The last war was basically for them to expand in that direction and to build bases around the capital."
"I think anything noteworthy was either destroyed or taken by both sides," Artemisia said. "Still, it is after this time that I don't know everything about my family, so they might know something that I don't."
"Well, picking a fight with them without knowing what they want won't do us any good," Aion said. "Still, we can trash their bases from above."
"Let's not do anything that might start another war," Artemisia said. "Fighting in a war to protect something is one thing. Fighting in a war for the sake of greed or vengeance wouldn't change a thing. That satisfaction won't last for long."
Aion knew that, and if he could help it, considering the person that he was before, he would rather live peacefully instead of causing death and destruction. Still, he wasn't the same person as before. He could fight against things that he deemed wrong, and he had the power to destroy most of the injustice in front of him. He didn't want to do bad things while ignoring his mother's words. However, Aion couldn't let assholes go unpunished, either.
With that in mind, Aion decided to make his death knights attack the camps around the capital of the Mirelis Kingdom… that way, no one would connect the dots…
