In the end, Aion decided to choose the class that seemed the most fearsome… still, he soon changed to the guardian class because his body was almost screaming due to the pain. He felt a bit better soon after, but he needed some serious rest.
Seris and Sauros dashed toward Aion when he fell on his butt, but then they saw him using Meditation and healing himself. The frozen blast made his body get countless frostbites, and the snake attacks crushed a lot of his bones… he needed to heal himself as soon as possible, which he was already doing.
While he was healing himself, Seris and Sauros saw that the darkness was dissipating, and eventually, they were able to find the core of the labyrinth a few hundred meters away from them. It was like a massive crystal that was like a really tall hill… around two hundred meters wide and tall.
Beyond the hill that was the giant magic stone, they saw another part of the labyrinth, and there was an entrance as well, but they could sense the barrier right in the entrance as well.
"It is completely fine… the barrier of the temple…" Sauros said.
"Mission accomplished… only more and then will be free from this task and massive worry," Seris said. "While this is helping the world, I am more relieved knowing that I won't see Aion embarrassing me by doing so much more than us."
Sauros shared the same sentiment, but he couldn't say it out loud. They didn't think that their approach when it came to the mission was wrong, but it was clear that making everything into a challenge made Aion insanely strong…
It didn't take long for Aion to get up. While he was feeling like crap, most of his bones were still broken, and the frostbite only improved a bit. He didn't have time to waste, and he could heal himself while they headed to the ship.
"I lost the chance to get some crazy levels in the lancer class, but at least I got a new one… one that seems really fitting for my tendencies of running wild," Aion thought and then made the bloody axe absorb the enemy.
The weapon was really weird since it was two-handed, and it had a long and big head in the shape of a crescent moon.
Wrath: increases your strength, endurance, and speed by three points per level at the cost of ten points of health per second.
Pain Immunity: decreases the effects caused by pain by ten points per level.
Aion checked his new skills and nodded in satisfaction… more skills that harm him but also hide the harm… in any case, he approached the others and then made a small cut in his hands after touching the massive magic stone and moved it to his inventory and then he opened the entrance.
"Are you sure that you are moving now?" Sauros asked. "I have seen many men collapsing with fewer wounds than you, and they needed weeks of rest to recover."
"I can move and recover at the same time," Aion said, and then he crossed the barrier.
Not much further ahead, Aion and the others saw some stairs that were leading them to the underground temple. Aion ignored everything around him and just went to the statue that was in the middle of another stone table… it was the statue of someone with a long magic staff… it seemed like a woman, even though the statue had a cloak covering most of its body and a pointy hat covering most of the face as well.
"Let's get going," Aion declared after storing the statue in his inventory.
Once they returned to the room where they faced the guardian. Aion created two earth spears and began to dig the ceiling… returning using the underground route would be a waste of time, even if the cold was slowly fading away.
It took him around ten minutes to dig a hole that was five hundred meters long, but they eventually appeared in the middle of a snowy field. South of them, five kilometers away, there was this large city that had walls made of ice blocks.
"That should be the capital…" Sauros said. "We are right in the middle of the country… Anyway, can you seal the hole to avoid problems?"
Aion nodded. It was better to be sure that their traces won't be that easy to find. So, he used a lot of mana to cover the whole thing from bottom to top. After that, they began to walk for a while since Aion still had to heal himself.
"We have been avoiding that question until now, but what do you think will happen to the people that relied on the labyrinth to do business?" Seris asked.
"They will find another way," Sauros said. "Besides, the people obtained too much from something that could destroy this entire island if left alone."
While those two were thinking about something really troublesome and useless, meanwhile, Aion was already with his head on the next missions. It will be the last that he will have with those two, and he won't be missing them much after what he had learned… Still, instead of thinking about that, it would be better if he focused on improving his skills for the next challenge.
"Hey, what do we have to do to reach the final temple?" Aion asked.
"Back to the business, already? I want to rest my mind for a few weeks before I begin to worry about that…" Sauros said and then sighed when he saw Aion's eyes. "The final temple is the last challenge of your ancestor. Until now, she only made temples to make sure that no one aside from her descendants will be able to enter. However, our next destination is her challenge to your bloodline. She created a large tower using her mana, and the place is filled with all kinds of monsters…"
