The sound of the guards falling on the ground after losing their heads and the smell of blood made the lord and his family squeal in terror. They tried to keep moving, but their legs soon gave up… when they turned around, they saw Aion menacingly walking toward them.
"What the hell is this?" Aion asked when he saw another tubby man with his family trying to run away from. "Even pieces of shit have families, huh."
Aion sighed when he saw the lord of the city pissing his pants… that was certainly unsightly. In any case, the guy had a wife and four kids wearing dark cloaks. They sure were planning to run away in the darkness of the night. Regardless, those people had to suffer a bit as well since they were part of the problem, and Aion's anger was far from over.
Aion approached the man and created a fireball over his head, revealing a dark-haired man that had a mustache. He was supposed to be in his fifties, so aside from his big belly, he was looking good for his age. Still, he was a piece of shit.
"Come to think of it, I don't know you guys' names. I just want to kill you all…" Aion said and then made the fireball approach the enemy's head. "But… I will give you this one chance. A chance not to die, but a chance not to let your kids watch your head burn. So, what do you say?"
The lord of the city began to sweat cold while breathing hard and was about to pass out, but he still managed to nod his head. That being said, Aion kept the fireball twenty centimeters above his head. That was probably the best method to keep the enemy from lying.
"Where did you get intel about me?" Aion asked.
The man gulped… that was probably the only question that he didn't want to answer… Aion could tell while watching his eyes roll. Still, the man began to grunt in pain when the fireball approached his head, and he began to feel its head growing.
"I don't know his name!" The man shouted. "We receive intel from him periodically, and he told us one month ago that you would come to attack us!"
One month ago… around the time Aion got the final relic. That confirmed his suspicions, the future changed when he got them, but he thought that the past couldn't be changed like some people imagined. Instead of that, any interference would create another branch of reality in the multiverse. Aion thought that those that could mess with time would know that, but maybe that wasn't the case.
"The relics are losing power, so I sometimes guess in the future, people will be able to use time magic like this again," Aion thought and then glared at the man in front of me. "If you didn't want me to attack you, you wouldn't have told your men to kidnap and torture my sisters… anyway, that can wait for a bit. Explain what you were doing in the fallen capital."
"... We received information about how we could use the ghosts of the people of the Milleris kingdom and where to find them," The man replied. "There is a secret dungeon down there that was impossible to find without knowing exactly where to find it."
"... Continue," Aion said while furrowing his eyebrows.
"We use a certain type of magic on the ghosts that have more magic power and use them to control the weaker ones," The man explained. "We give them the order to become a cluster of spiritual energy and then use them as shields against the monsters in the desert. We can also use the weakest ones to work for us…"
That was probably the result of some illusion magic. Still, for that to work on ghosts… they got more privileged information than expected since Aion had never heard of anyone using that kind of magic. Maybe it was something that only existed in the future…
Regardless, Aion confirmed what he had assumed… Someone wanted to alter the future, but it seemed that they were stupid since their plans had been destroyed all too easily, or they had other goals in mind.
Aion asked other things, like about who was the leader of their group, but he didn't say that they had a leader. They acted in total cooperation… Aion felt that it was bullshit. Usually, in that kind of situation, someone would receive more than others. Still, maybe that someone decided to keep that hidden.
Aion also asked while closing the tunnel with earth magic why they were trying to invade Zaera kingdom without railing their population. Still, he said that those were orders that he received without knowing the reason.
"All right, you will ring that bell again and make everyone think that I am dead," Aion said while approaching the man and grabbing him by his collar.
The man tried to struggle, but it was useless. His family followed him while imagining that they were all going to be killed on the spot if they didn't go. In the end, the man decided to cooperate while imagining that he would be fine if he didn't anger Aion. He even recovered some of his composure not to look even lame in front of his kids.
The bell was at the top of the mansion, and from there, Aion saw the city getting calm again. People that had left the place began to return, imagining that Aion had been killed. Still, all of a sudden, Aion turned around and then used an ice blade to cut off one of the man's arms.
"Arrrrrrrrrgggghhhhhhhh!" The man screamed in agony while seeing blood gush from the wound.
"Your job now is to gather two thousand good coins from the whole city and then put all of your fortunes in a single place," Aion said while the man was screaming. "You will gather all the weapons in the city as well and offer them to me in one week. If you don't do that, I will chop your other limbs. That will be just the beginning of what I will do since this is far from quenching my anger."
