Once he successfully made his first relic which was a short knife, Aion checked for any changes in his parameters. Much to his surprise, it increased his magic by thirty points. That wasn't half bad, but it might become a problem if he has to mass produce them for some reason.
"This isn't half bad… but I wonder if I can improve it," Aion rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
Aion decided to make some relics to see if he could make magic weapons. Since Arlana spent her entire life working on that project to make sure that the other timelines won't face destruction like hers, she lacked defensive and offensive abilities. So, he thought of giving her a weapon that would let her use magic freely, just in case. Now that she was in that timeline, who knows what might happen.
"I will have to keep experimenting with this, but for now, I should focus on learning Explosive Release," Aion thought.
Thanks to that, the day ended quite soon, and the next day, Aion went to work on the road after telling Arlana to keep harnessing her mana every day. He finished the road crossing the desert in that week, and that left everyone speechless.
Since he was there, Aion went to see his brothers and confirmed that everything had been fine and the crime rate was close to zero, and people were working without making a fuss. Most of the population was also thankful since they didn't have to worry about low lives coming to their farms to demand food just because they had some influence and were acquainted with some powerful folk. All of them were the same under the law.
Once Aion returned home, he couldn't help but frown since his mother had put on another fashion show for him to see… Artemisia reached a point where she truly was trying to help Aion with matchmaking. He felt a bit bad for those two getting involved in the mess created, thanks to his inaction when it came to starting his own family.
Still, Aion had to put that aside when he heard the report that everything was fine in the kingdom… wasn't he supposed to be targeted by all sorts of enemies now that he had the relics?
"Don't look at me like that… I am as confused as you," Seris said.
When Aion looked at Arlana, she just shrugged. She still didn't want to mention future events unless she is forced to… she probably will stay silent unless people start to die.
"By the way, your mother already mastered that part of Explosive Release. Seris is almost there as well," Arlana said. "What about you?"
"You forget that I had to use all my mana for the last week…" Aion furrowed his eyebrows. "Anyway, using the relics too much isn't a good idea, but I won't let anyone take away the first move from me."
"Didn't Vangel tell you to lay low for a while?" Seris said and then facepalmed. She got that habit from Aion. "Also, shouldn't you just focus on the mana that you are getting from the souls?"
"Apparently, grandpa is having a hard time convincing others to help me…" Aion explained, wondering why his grandmother wasn't helping but only his uncle and grandfather.
The reason for that was self-explanatory… the royal family more or less caused their deaths. They were loyal until they lost their lives, but they didn't have any more reason for that. In any case, that man was going to his classes, so he actually didn't have a surplus of it, and he felt the need to do something else instead of waiting.
"I am not planning on doing anything drastic," Aion said. "With my skills, I can invade places without being noticed. So, I am planning to take things away that some probable enemies have and use them in my favor when the time comes. Like powerful weapons and items."
"A thief with royal blood…" Seris said. "That would be funny if it weren't tragic."
"You talk as if I am robbing anything out of greed… if you had seen that timeline, you would understand better," Aion said.
Seris couldn't see, but Arlana told her a few things about it, and it had been enough to make her sweat cold. A dark world where everything had been killed and even sunlight had been blocked by some spell… it was only a matter of time until that world became impossible to live for any kind of lifeform.
"Are you planning to upgrade the gear of your death knights?" Arlana asked. "If that is the case, maybe we should use the relics in our favor… there are some people that you didn't have the chance to turn into death knights for some reason, but you can probably do that if you head to the timelines where they are still alive."
"... What about monsters?" Aion asked.
"Powerful monsters… there are a few still living in this timeline, but it will be hard to deal with them," Arlana stroked her chin.
It had been a while since Aion used the tamer class, and it was about time to get more underlings. The others were guarding his port, but they weren't strong enough to keep up with him.
"I knew that you were keeping a few secrets, but I didn't know that they were that many…" Seris said while furrowing her eyebrows. "If people knew that you had so many cards…"
"Maybe they do, and they are preparing to attack… by the way, Arlana," Aion said when he recalled something. "You declared yourself the last human, but you also said that you interrupted the actions of someone else… isn't that contradictory."
"Not at all. Do you think that only humans could target you?" Arlana asked.
"... Elaborate," Aion said.
"I can't give you details since it might cause problems in the future… but let's say that people created all sorts of things to overthrow you, and others became other things entirely…"
