They might have tried to dominate the world, but his grandparents were anything if not interesting. Although Aion said that he had some grudges agaisnt them since they caused a lot of suffering to his mother, he probably shouldn't have since they paid for their crimes by dying. Their actions caused some suffering to Artemisia, but it didn't seem that Artemisia minded anymore.
In any case, Aion decided to sleep a little while cooling down his tent with magic, just enough in order not to let anyone sense it. It was a bit hard to do that while sleeping, but he pulled it off.
In the end, he woke up at noon when he noticed that something was off… Everyone in the camp was moving around nervously while carrying their weapons, and most of them were heading south. Some people looked at Aion as if he was a monster for being able to sleep in such conditions.
Once Aion left his tent, he noticed the people nearby assuming formations beyond the camp, and Aion was also able to see a dust cloud emerging in the distance.
"Woah, to think that the enemies were crazy enough to plan their attack at noon…" Aion thought. "I wonder what will happen if I kill someone that isn't supposed to die here… come to think of it, the enemy's army wasn't supposed to exist, so a lot of people that weren't supposed to die will die here."
In the worst-case scenario, that will create another timeline in which it will be impossible for Aion to see how it will end since it exists in the past. Regardless, Aion moved to join the ranks, and he made sure to stand right in front of one of the battalions in order for him to see the enemies and make everyone understand that he wasn't a spy.
Few people were wearing armor since it would be really hard to walk on the sand while being heavy. Maybe that was why most soldiers were sweating bullets since a single good hit in any part of their bodies, and they will suffer more than a little bit.
The enemies began to approach, and Aion was finally able to see their first line of soldiers. Weirdly enough, he saw some men riding some giant lizards… they were a bit fat and slow, but they sure looked sturdy since they also had a lot of scales around their bodies.
"Green, long necks, and they look kinda old… I never saw that kind of monster," Aion furrowed his eyebrows.
The lizard monsters looked pretty comfortable while crossing the desert, and thanks to the dust cloud, it was impossible to say how many enemies were on the other side… no wonder everyone looked so nervous.
Regardless, since the enemies on the frontlines were carrying spears, it was better to get rid of their mounts and take that advantage of them. That probably won't change much about the future since animals and monsters won't affect the timeline that much.
When the enemies got three hundred meters away, everyone grabbed their weapons to ready themselves. Eventually, Aion looked to the side and then saw the woman that looked like Clanire stepped forward and grab her swords.
"Kill those fucking invaders, men!" The woman shouted. "Kill them, and I will bring you the head of the draconic wanderer!"
The nervous soldiers from beforehand raised their weapons and roared with all their might. She sure knew how to lead and make her soldiers get pumped even though all the factors were against them.
Aion didn't have much mana with that class, so he would have to entertain the enemies' lines and disappear to be able to change without alerting anyone, and he had a good idea of how to do that.
When the enemies were fifty meters away, the woman that looked like Clanire began to dash toward the enemies, and all the other soldiers did the same. They were being quite noisy, but Aion couldn't complain since he knew that some people do better when they let their tension fade away by screaming.
When the first enemy pointed his spear toward Aion's head, he just swung his axe and pushed it away with ease. While the class was only at level fifteen, the refinement level was already at thirty. It was basically the same thing as being at level forty-five.
The enemy opened his eyes widely when he saw Aion cutting the monster from the sides with his ax, and then he screamed in pain when the ax cut off his leg. Aion just ignored that and kept moving forward and doing the same. There was no need to do anything else.
"Their levels are relatively low… while they might become dangerous as riders with those creatures, they only have a single weapon," Aion thought while he claimed the head of another monster.
The sound of metal and the smell of blood were starting to spread. Still, Aion was also getting further away from it since none of the enemies and their mounts were able to stop him from running in a straight line. Some of the enemies were looking at him in shock since he stopped and looked around undaunted. He also didn't look nervous at all…
"Here should be enough…" Aion thought and then changed his class to Earth Bender.
In the next moment, several of the monsters began to sink to the ground quite fast. The riders panicked and then jumped from their mounts.
"I can get those materials later… but I guess I should move them to my inventory right now, just in case," Aion thought.
Aion did that, and then he created a sand tornado around himself when the riders that abandoned their mounts dashed at him. In the next moment, he fired ice arrows that pierced their heads.
"I don't want to kill those that aren't directly my enemies, but I guess I don't have much of choice here," Aion furrowed his eyebrows.
