Chapter 144
[Kitsuna Pov]
“so you guys arrived here in the morning already?” I said, walking next to mother towards the Anabalds mansion where the plane was waiting.
“Yes, it only takes us 8 hours to get here.” Mom explained, looking up at me.
“Really, that fast? It took us at least a month to get here.” I said, sighing in frustration.
“You mean 2 months.” Mom said, correcting me.
“We got distracted, okay,” I said, looking away.
“By what, hmm?” Mom hummed, waiting for me to explain.
“The devil cult.”
.....
“... And?” Mom said, waiting for more.
“what do you mean and? It was only the devil cult that delayed us.” I said, tilting my head at her.
“oh, so no sexual stuff happened then?” Mom said, disappointed.
“No, that only happened here in the city,” I said, feeling myself blush.
“Hmm, so how far have you guys gone?” Mom said with a teasing grin.
“Wha-what don’t teas me, mom,” I whined, flopping my ears down in embarrassment.
“oh, come on, do tell your mother. I won’t tease you too much if you do.”
“Why would I tell you if you are going to tease me about it anyways,” I said, annoyed.
“Please tell me. I am so curious.” Mom shined, jumping around like a kid.
“tch, we only kissed,” I said, clicking my tongue and answering her briefly with annoyance.
“you? You only kissed her? You shared a hotel room to only kiss each other?” Mom said, getting annoyed and frustrated at my answer.
“Yes,” I said, looking away, not wanting her to dig deeper.
“I knew you were slow, but this is not even compared to someone working at a snail’s pace.”? Mom said, frustrated with a deeper voice.
“What did you expect we go into half married couple in a few months or something!?” I shouted back, flustered, more than annoyed.
“Yes, yes, I did expect that. Especially after you easily started to trust her.” Mom yelled back, shocking me.
“Ugh, no, I won’t fall for this soul mate bond that easily!” I said, wanting to stand my ground.
“... you can’t be serious?”Mom said as if we didn’t even have a fight brooding. Mom’s frustration and annoyance disappeared in seconds, only getting replaced with a baffled face.
“I just don’t trust it,” I said, awkwardly looking downwards at my feat.
“no, no, it can’t be. Do you actually think the soulmate bond is manipulating your feelings?” Mom asked, not listening to my words.
“...”
“this dumb daughter of mine, you are a fucken primordial, do you think-” Mom yelled, getting frustrated again.
“shut up. I don’t want to hear it. Okay, I already know... I am just not sure.” I said, interrupting her, putting my hands on my ears, not forgetting to make her mention of primordial inaudible to everyone else around us.
Slap!
“eh?” Confused at the sudden slap, I looked at mom, baffled.
“Sorry, I just had to,” Mom said, puffing up her cheeks as if she was putting.
“why?” I mumbled, touching my cheek.
“Because you were annoying,” Mom said, looking away and crossing her arm.
“How was I being annoying? I wasn’t doing anything.” I said, muttering the last part to myself
“you are dense. You saying you weren’t doing anything is exactly the point.”
“huh? You are making me more confused, mom.” I whined, grabbing moms shoulders.
“don’t worry. You will understand someday.” Mom said, grinning knowingly.
“ugh, why did you have to be like this,” I said, looking at mom opening the main gate to the Anabalds mansion.
“Mother!”
“Oof, why did you jump into me!” I yelled, annoyed, looking down at Apricot.
“I missed you, mother!” Apricot said, crossing her face on my stomach.
“Apricot, you are annoying,” I said, kicking her off me.
“ow, mom, don’t be so mean,” Apricot said, rubbing her bruise on the ground.
“stop calling me that.”
“you are so mean. I am going to kayda to complain.” Apricot said, letting go of me before running off to kayda, I presume.
“I guess Kayda is here.” Mom said next to me with dark energy coming from her.
“Please don’t hurt her too much, mom,” I said worriedly while having a smirk.
“you really are the worst sometimes.” Mom said, laughing.
“Well, anyways- oh hello, Nekro. How are you doing.” I said, feeling someone climb onto my back.
“uh, good, I guess,” Nekro said, nodding and getting comfortable on my shoulder.
“That’s good to hear. Did you guys train well?” I said, making Nekro shiver on my back.
“Y-yes,” Nekro stuttered, looking down.
“ah, is that it,” I said, looking over at mom, who was beaming like a light in the middle of the night as if she had done something amazing.
“Well, then, I will be leaving you for now. Let me get Kayda before she gets away again.” Mom said, running off in the same direction Apricot did.
“sigh, she really is a demon,” I said, looking at Nekro on my shoulder.
“The worst. She is the worst and scariest demon I have ever seen.” Nekro stuttered, having a grey cloud over her head.
“well, that’s not hard to bet you haven’t seen a lot.”
“Captian, you are a close second.”
“ugh, there is no way I am like my mother.”
“That’s right. You aren’t. Your appearance alone makes you scary enough to be close to the top.” Nekro said, not hesitating at all.
“Ugh, you are so mean, Nekro,” I whined, dropping my head.
“I am only stating the truth,” Nekro said, grinning at me.
“sigh, now you sound like Kayda,” I said, sighing again.
“Well, I don’t mind that,” Nekro said as if she looked up at Kayda.
“huh, and why is that?”
“kayda is cool,” Nekro explained shortly, making me nod.
“And I am not?” I asked, raising an eyebrow at her.
“I thought we already clarified this, Captain. You are scary, not cool,” Nekro said, not hesitating like usual.
“tsk, whatever. How is it going with the other three?”
“That- I will leave it to you to find out, captain,” Nekro said shortly before going quiet, still sitting on my shoulder.
“sigh, I guess something major happened to the three then,” I said, opening the door where multiple weird sounds with some cheering came from.
“you can do it, Apricot!” We saw Brenda, Sirona and chinada. Cheers.
Looking in the direction they were cheering, I saw apricot dogging or trying to doge mom slaps with kayda hiding behind her.
“Kayda, why are you using someone as a shield,” I said, flash stepping behind her and grabbing her one wing.
“oh, Kitsu, help me. Stacy wants to kill me,” Kayda whined the instant I walked into the room.
“yeah, no,” I said, grabbing Apricot’s tail. I yanked her backwards while pushing Kayda forwards toward Mom.
“Hey, no kitsu! How could you do this to me.”
“Oh, thank you, my daughter.” Mom said, grabbing kayda happily.
.....
“Don’t go too far,” I said, narrowing my eyes at her.
“you traitor, how could you,” Apricot said, looking up at me from the ground.
“she betrayed me first.”
“Why is this sounding like a storybook right now?” Nekro said thoughtfully.
“Nekro?” I muttered, confused, glancing at her.
“What? Just think about it. One leaves the one behind, but the other survives and takes revenge on the one that left her behind.” Nekro explains confusing.
“... that doesn’t sound like a story, though? If you really think it’s one, it’s one bad story.”
“is it, though? A lot of people like revenge stories.” Nekro said, smiling.
“yeah, here, no one dies. So no one will like it or classify it as a revenge story.”
“that’s true, but can you please let go of the Apricot’s tail? She looks to be in quite a pain.”
“oh yeah, I forgot my bad,” I said, looking at Apricot apologetic, letting go of her tail.
“thank you, Nekro, you saved me,” Apricot said, grabbing Nekro off my back.
“It’s okay, don’t worry about it,” Nekro said, patting Apricot’s head.
‘Yeah, they somehow fit together.’ I thought, seeing the two sitting on the ground.
“Well, whatever, so how is it going with you three?” I said, looking to the other three that were cheering a few seconds ago.
“Ah, my queen, it’s going good,” Chinada said, smiling awkwardly at me.
“Hmm,” humming, I looked at the three to realize chinada was sitting in the middle of the two where the two weren’t really giving her any space.
‘It feels weird that those two aren’t next to each other.”
“Well, how about you, too? Anything new?”
“ah, not really.” They both said in unison, making me annoyed.
“sigh, you guys are so fucken boring. It has been a few months, and all you said is nothing has changed or is going well.” I said, making a dangerous glint appear in my eyes.
“oh no,” Chinada said, trying to get away from me, but ultimately, Serone and Brenda blocked her chances of doing so.
“oh yeah, all of you are going to suffer now,” I said, throwing out ice chains at everyone before flinging them out of the mansion windows and breaking them as well.
