Chapter 248: Playing Games with Her [2]
***
Amon sipped his milkshake, leaning back in his chair.
"There's still an air of solemnity and fear among the students." He said as his gaze wandered around him.
From his peripheral vision, he saw Amelia nod in agreement from the side.
Both of them look at the multitude of old people, students, and couples wandering in the mall.
Despite a month passing since the incident, there was still an air of sadness and grimness. It was evident that the people of the academy had lost their trust in the higher management. If the strongest person in the world had done that then how could they trust the people in the lower echelon?
Not to mention, the newly appointed principal had still yet to show her face even once in public.
Even though they might have seen her over the newspapers and in other public outings, why wasn't Akane Blackheart coming out to address the public of this academy?
It dwindled the people's hopes even further, making them feel defenseless.
As if nobody was present in the academy to save them.
It didn't show through their faces but it was pretty clear from their attitude and the air around them.
It was the same for Amon's class and every other year as well.
Previously, there used to be a ruckus and at least some noise in the class but now it was completely quiet, both during lectures and after them.
It was as if soulless people were sitting in this city.
And though Amon could agree that most of the older majority hated Arthur for his actions, the same couldn't be said for the majority of the younger population.
Sure, there had been a wave of hatred for him in the early days but slowly, when the emotional high wore down them from them, they finally made sense of Arthur's actions.
The older people couldn't relate to this thinking as they had lost people very dear to them but...
The students and others realized that in a sense it might have been the better action to do.
They finally realize that they have no evidence or anything on what happened to Arthur down there.
What were his actions or anything nor did Arthur say anything about it in jail?
Hell, they didn't even know how he was or if he was even alive. There was complete silence from him for the whole month.
It was as if the Imperiac had just suddenly buried the case. This certainly made suspicion rise in the cadet's hearts.
What if Arthur was forced to take that choice down there?
After all, nobody was dumb enough to think that Arthur would lose to 50 people that easily.
The people were probably taken hostage or something else, but it was pretty much confirmed
to the majority of the students now that something was wrong.
There was at least a 70% chance that Arthur was innocent and he was being set up.
Unfortunately, they could only keep the thoughts within themself.
After all, they had no power to do anything. They couldn't free Arthur again or anything.
So just like before, even if they knew Arthur was in the right, there was no way they could free him.
"Wait, we still have to pay them for our food and my milkshake..." She said in a light pleading
voice.
It wasn't meant for Amon to hear but he still heard it.
"Don't worry, I already paid them while you were looking." He smirked.
Then, his eyes darted back to the unfinished milkshake he left on the table.
Due to his pull, Amelia's milkshake had fallen on the ground and right now, it would take
them time to order a new one.
Ignoring the rule of not using magic in the City Centre, Amon formed some strings of blood, pulling his shake from the table to himself.
"Here, you can drink mine, now let's hurry." He pulled her again after handing the milkshake
to her without any hesitation.
Amelia was taken aback as she got a milkshake in her hands, not knowing what to say.
She looked at the shake in her hand. It was chocolate, her favorite flavor.
But as her eyes darted to the straw, a sudden thought appeared in her mind. And in the next instant, her cheeks flushed a bright red as a stream of thoughts ran through
her mind, her eyes still fixated on the straw.
Fortunately for her, Amon wasn't seeing the look on her face right now, focusing on the front.
If he saw her beet-red face right now, he would have missed no opportunity to tease her. Amelia's eyes, however, were still fixed on the straw. Contrary to what one would expect,
there was no weirdness or disgust in her eyes.
There was just shyness, no resistance at all.
And not only that...
In the next moment, Amelia casually brought the straw to her glossy red lips, and started to
drink the milkshake without any hesitation.
Sip...Sip.Sip...
Her cheeks turned even redder and she tried to quickly avert her eyes and hide them through
her bangs.
All that time, she didn't let go of the straw at all, drinking it until it was completely empty. And when it was finally done, she released the straw with a 'pop' sound.
And right there, on the straw was a bright red mark from her lips, a tiny trail of saliva dripping
down the straw.
Seeing it, she turned bright red as a tomato again and quickly stored it inside her bag to throw
later, burying her face in her hands a moment later.
If only Amon was able to see this whole incident...
Alas, he wasn't.
