Chapter 30 - Stingy Long Jie

Xin Yanmo, the former president of the Republic of China, was lying on the bed, machines attached to him. As he saw his beloved grandaughter entering the room with Long Jie, he ordered his nurse to help him to sit on the bed. His room smelled of medicines and chemicals.

His weak hairless face broke into a smile when he saw them approaching him "Come here, my child."

"Yèyè."

Yes, he called out his granddaughter, not Long Jie.

"Yèyè, meet Jie, my fiance" Xin Zhenyi introduced Long Jie and the way she gently introduced him, sent heart-shaped arrows to Long Jie's heart. Only if she knew the effect she had on the man gazing at her.

"Elder Xin" Long Jie greeted him with a respectful bow. The man commanded respect even when he was lying on his death bed.

"Please have a seat. I would like to talk to both of you." Xin Yanmo said and they took their seats respectively.

"Yeye."

He smiled and gestured her to come closer and sit near to him but narrowed his eyes at Long Jie and said in a voice full of authority and warning.

" Take care of my granddaughter, young man. She is very precious to me."

" Elder Xin, you don't have to worry about it. I will treat my wife with the great care and respect that she deserves. She will want for nothing."

He nodded at him before saying.

"Then don't forget your words, young man. I will not tolerate infidelity and if you dared to commit such a crime, I can assure you, young man, you won't see the next dawn."

" I gave her my words, sir that there will be no one but her. Even if the marriage is a business arrangement , I take my words very seriously sir." Long Jie answered him. He would never betray her because she agreed when he asked for complete honesty and transparency in their relationship. They were finally on the same page and he did not wish to disturb the equilibrium they had attained.

Xin Yanmo nodded and said "You can call me grandfather Xiao Jie. I hope you will remember your words. "

"I will always grandfather."

"Yèyè, you can trust him he won't commit infidelity against me and if he ever did, I will make sure to chop both of them into pieces, " His Cat-eyes warned him and her warning hit his heart in a very filmy way. The heart that was made of steel. He smiled inwardly. If his brothers saw him behaving this way, they would get the shock of their lives.

"My dear wife, you won't get the chance. I have no intention of going against you," he replied to her. He wanted to add that he had no intention of going against her not now, not ever but then he remembered that's his cat- eyes, yes very much his, soon would be legally his too, had a habit of going against him and there was no way in hell he was going to submit before her. They both were their own bosses.

"You better remember what you said today," she finally said. He want to shout to the world that it was inscribed in his mind since the time he had slipped his ring into her finger. Yes, his ring, just his, no one else's.

Xin yanmo coughed loudly and gasped for air. Long Jie swore he saw her, the tigress, as pale as the sheet of paper. Her hands trembling and her eyes almost brimming with tears. She was trying very hard not to let them fall. The doctors injected Elder Xin with medicine and a few minutes later he stopped coughing. She took his hand in hers and murmured words of assurance to both her and him. Long Jie wondered who she was trying to assure.

And he realized one thing, why she agreed to this marriage agreement. It was not her father's order not it was because of Xin cooperation but the man lying on the bed. Her grandfather.

Maybe his cat eyes was not what she showed everyone around her. There was something more to her.

Almost half an hour later, the old man spoke in a very weak voice.

"Zin'er -Xiao Jie. I won't ask you both for anything except one last wish of mine. Do you know zin'er the temple where I met your grandmother?"

She nodded.

"I want both of you to visit it before your marriage. I met my wife there for the first time and I wish you would visit it and budda will bless you with a happy and prosperous marriage" the old man added.

"We will," they spoke at the same time and looked at each other.

The old man smiled peacefully.

"Now I just wish to see both of you married and nothing else," he said a few moments later.

"Grandfather if you wish, we can register our marriage tomorrow."

"You stingy man! I want a big ass wedding and if you want to marry me at civil marriage bureau, I'm not getting married to you at all." She snapped and Long Jie wondered what wrong he did to trigger her anger.
