"You-you are crazy!" Long Jie couldn't help but groan.
He observed that she was still standing at the door and shook his head. He invited her in and pulled a chair for her like a gentleman that he usually was…. not.
"What would you like to order?" Long Jie asked her as she sat on the chair, before walking to his.
"Mr. Long, let's finish the task we are here for," she declined politely. She couldn't help but suspect his gentlemanly attitude. Only if he knew his charm was not working on his wife-dearest.
"Sure, but let's eat first. It's almost time for lunch."
"I'm sorry but I am not hungry."
"Too bad but I am starving and I don't think we can continue the meeting with an empty stomach," A mere man needed the energy to fight with a tigress he wished to add but stopped himself in fear to ignite an argument.
"Didn't you eat at your office?" Zhenyi asked in exasperation.
" How could I? It's a lunch meeting if you hadn't noticed,"Long Jie quickly retorted.
"But I am not hungry, " Zhenyi said. What a shameless man!
"So what! You can join me. I won't start meeting before eating. So it depends on you," Long Jie said when he saw that she had no intention of giving in.
"Jesus! why are you so damm difficult". Zhenyi sighed out in exasperation.
"I'm being difficult?" Long Jie gaped at her in disbelief while Zhenyi shrugged her shoulders and picked up the menu. For Zhenyi, there was no need to use words with this man anymore, as they always end up in a verbal tussle against one another. And it would be better if she didn't give him the chance and concentrate on the objective she had in her mind. Air-China was more important than the man in front of her. So what if she had to have lunch with this particular annoying man.
Feeling a gaze at the side of her face, Zhenyi tilted her head to look at Long Jie staring at her. There was inquisitiveness in those gray eyes that could mesmerize anyone. But she chose to ignore his existence and focus on the menu.
Zhenyi ordered several traditional Chinese dishes along with her favorite wine.
" I am done with my order," she said and squinted her eyes towards Long jie before saying" Now, you can order for yourself."
"Are you sure the order is for the person who was not hungry few minutes back?" remarked Long Jie and gestured to the waiter to take his order?
"Why my dear fiance can't you afford a simple lunch ordered by your wife?" Zhenyi said while flashing a perfect fake smile.
Long Jie shook his head in amusement. Indeed, the little fox was very crafty.
"How's grandfather?," Long Jie tried to strike a conversation.
"His disease is chronic but he's holding for now," she replied normally but deep down he knew how much her grandfather meant to her but he chose to change the topic.
"When are visiting the temple?," he asked as the thought came to his mind that they had promised Xin Yanmo that they would visit the temple before their wedding. The wedding would be held a few days from now as requested correction- ordered by his wife.
" Well, it depends upon you. How about tomorrow or the day after tomorrow?" she suggested. She was glad he had not forgotten about the promise he gave to her grandfather.
"Sure. I'll let you know," he answered her. It meant he got to spend more time with her. The thought alone was enough to soar his mood for the rest of the day.
The waiter came and served them their dishes starting with appetizers and wine. Zhenyi examined the number of dishes she had ordered in mischief but to her surprise, she was actually hungry. Little did she know, her expressions couldn't be hidden from the hungry wolf sitting in front of him.
While she was engaged in devouring the dishes in front of her, someone was busy savoring the rare view in front of him. To tell the truth, he liked infuriating her for every little thing. He adored when her eyes flickered with multiple shades of fire when she was angry. But he cherished the moments when she was civil to him.
Ever wondered how a person you only met once or twice could soar your emotions and mood just with their presence. Long Jie was overlooking the fact that Zhenyi was nothing more than his responsibility and Zhenyi was steadying herself convincing the man in front of her was very much the same to the men she met before, except the four important men of her life.
