"You also know real Zhenyi's favorite word," Fan Bingbing dramatically gaped.
"Are you done, Bingbing? " She asked Bingbing as she narrowed her eyes.
"Yeah. I think so." Both of them started walking to the cars. "But seriously Zhenyi, I really thought you will compel He Xiang to sell Air China to you. And not only you canceled the deal but also imparted words of wisdom. What are you planning? "Fan Bingbing couldn't help but ask since she was dying out of curiosity and if she died tomorrow there would be news that Xin Zhenyi's Secretary died out of curiosity.
" I never plan, Bingbing and you know it," answered Zhenyi. The thought of falling prey to any of Zhenyi's plans accidentally made Fan Bingbing shudder. "Since you know I'm the random-est person, the thought came to my mind randomly and I act on it," Zhenyi continued. "And if you think that he will be continuing the deal with Du Zheng, then think again," She added the last line cocking her eyebrow at Fan Bingbing.
"I thought you genuinely liked his daughter and we're protecting her. "Fan Bingbing asked her seriously.
"Why would I?" Zhenyi scoffed. " Who is she to me? "
"Just another pawn, "Fan Bingbing said to herself.
Zhenyi was selfish, insensitive, and perhaps greedy too but she was loyal to the fault. Sometimes, Fan Bingbing wondered if she was not Zhenyi's friend but a normal and regular person what would have she called her? A psychopath? Or there was another word for the kinds of her.
Zhenyi always said that no matter how many states or governments were out there, the world would still be ruled by the notion of survival of the fittest.
It was not that she was fond of spilling blood, war, and mayhem, it was just... unavoidable. There would always be only one ruler and the rest had to bow down to the ruler. And history is still the greatest and oldest spectator to the deaths of those who withheld to bow.
"Though she is a good kid, I will still not lose a deal worth hundreds of millions because of a kid unrelated to me," Zhenyi spoke in a humorless tone.
If Zhenyi triumphantly secured the business deal, it simply meant she could, not because she brainwashed He Xiang against Du Zheng. Though she did, it was entirely He Xiang's fault that he trusted her instead of Du Zheng and. It was not like that Du Zheng was rinsed in holy milk, he was also after his own benefit just like her.
But no, the world is really hypocritical. If a man played dirty, he was a true MAN, but when a woman did the same, she was a termagant.
The world literally needs to change its damm double standards.
"Finally, the Zhenyi I know came out," Fan Bingbing sighed out.
"Don't worry, she never went anywhere," Zhenyi answered.
"Let's go. I promised Sam that I will join him for the lunch," Zhenyi said, increasing her pace." He is annoying the hell out of me these days. His wicked mind is definitely cooking something and I'm afraid he has already laid out his schemes to work."
"Serves you right." Fan Bingbing grinned.
"I heard he will be discharged from the hospital this week. " Fan Bingbing asked.
"Yeah, he's doing much better. Only if Aunt Jia was there to take care of him but the stubborn brute will never allow me to tell her."
Fan Bingbing scoffed. "It's not the first time he's injured. He learned to hide it from his mom."
"You know you don't have to go to the hospital if you don't want to," Fan Bingbing said softly.
"I know Bingbing but this time it's Sam. My love for him outweigh the hate for hospitals," Zhenyi replied.
They reached the parking lot. Zhenyi removed her shades and dialed Ryuu's number since Binbing would be going straight to the office. She called twice but the call went straight to the voice mail.
It was really weird. First Ryuu called and that too many times. And now he was not picking up the call. Moreover, what was this sick feeling in the pit of her stomach? He was alright?
"Damm you, Ryuu. Now, who's worrying who?" She dialed his assistant's number.
No answer.
Huh.
She was fidgeting, her thumb found the ring on her finger and twirled it, a habit she formed especially whenever she was stressed. A thought popped into his mind.
She dialed the number.
"Cat eyes? " a voice came from the other side of the phone.
"Yeah? " Zhenyi heard herself answering.
The cupid: slapping his forehead in helplessness.
"You okay, wife? " Long Jie voice was laced with naked concern.
"I don't know. I'm anxious for no reason. And you know last time when I was feeling the same, what had happened? I don't ---"
"Take a deep breath and calm down. Stop thinking about it," Long Jie said in a very gentle tone.
"Do you have lunch? " Long Jie asked.
"No --- "
"Perfect. Send me your location. Let's have lunch together. Please"
"Huh... I'm at Pine Farms. And you have fifteen minutes." Zhenyi told him.
Long Jie smiled at his bossy yet an insanely beautiful wife.
"Gu Tian, to the Pine farms, and within in fifteen minutes, it's your lady boss's order." She heard Long Jie's voice instructing his Assistant.
She could apologize to Sam for standing him up but she really, really needed to engage her mind somewhere, and generally, no always, whenever Long Jie and she were in the same room, he was enough to capture all of her attention and she truly needed it this time. She could have lunch with his husband and then they could again go separate ways. Couldn't they?
A truce. At least for an hour.
