Chapter 136 - Three Days (1)

They said Xin Zhenyi never lied. They said she never went back on her words. The same people also said that she never broke the promises she once made. Beneath her hard and tough exterior, there lies a heart of the woman which is as loyal and honorable as she is fierce.

Though she is crafty, she is trustworthy and principled.

She meant to him beyond words.

But they lied. Every single of them lied about her. She too was a human. A mere mortal. She too lied. Sometimes or sometimes more than sometimes. They just didn't know about it. She was no Almighty. She was no invincible either. She also broke the promises she held dear to her life. She went back on her words too as he did, not just once or twice or even thrice but several times and he was feeling what she must have felt then.

He cared for her beyond words.

God was punishing him for his sins? Is that why she broke all her promises she made to him, all the spoken and unspoken vows? Is that why she was as silent as a bloody ghost for the last three days? Is that why he lost what they could have if...

He cherished her beyond words.

These ifs are haunting him like no other ghosts. These ghosts were hauntingly terrifying. If it was a dream, he wanted to come out of it. He was sinking into a never-ending sea of despair and no matter how much he tried he couldn't swim.

He could set fire to this world and get rid of this painful world once for all. He wanted to kill each of them who hurt her and that life too which hadn't even come to the world would be with them if not for the unfortunate accident…

What wrong had he done that his family was paying for his sins? Sins? He laughed. What sins had he committed that he had been paying for them since the time he had come to this bloody world?

If there was a God, he would ask Him what He was punishing him for?

He never worshipped any deity, but he did worship her. And that too Beyond words.

Three days ago.

Will see you in the evening," said Long Jie as he kissed his wife. Initially, he thought he would be dropping her at her office first, but his wife had a different plan of her own as she had already asked her friend to pick her up.

"Is it safe now? Can I open my eyes?" Fan Bingbing bellowed as she tried to peek at the shameless couple.

"No one asked you to cover your eyes," Zhenyi said.

Fan Bingbing curled her hair behind her ears and gave her a sour face. "Really Zhenyi? I don't want to watch you guys doing...lovey-dovey. It creeps me out."

Long Jie chuckled.

"Get a man of your own and stop staring at my man," came the reply from his super gorgeous wife.

Fan Bingbing scratched her chin as she realized that she was indeed staring at him indecently.

'No sane woman on this earth would dare to eye Zhenyi's husband,' Fan Bingbing thought in her mind. Moreover, even if they did, the other party won't notice them. She noticed how Long Jie had eyes only for his wife. It was like no one else lives in this world who was worthy of his gaze. She has been standing beside them for a few minutes now but he hadn't looked at him twice. She was a beautiful woman, not Zhenyi type beautiful, but she was and she was quite aware of the gawks the men gave her but this man hadn't even glanced at him.

Instead of getting offended, she was happy, so happy that her bitter and difficult Zhenyi got an excellent man like she truly deserved.

"Just because I'm single doesn't mean you've to rub it on my face. Moreover, I'm not going to snatch your husband from you. No matter how tempting he looks, he is not my type," Fan Bingbing retorted.

Zhenyi ignored her comment and focussed on her husband who was staring into her eyes and said something to Fan Bingbing but she was too occupied to note.

"Sorry, ladies. I'm not available in the market anyways," the reply came from Long Jie.

"Hmmph! Let me get a boyfriend first then I'll feed you doses of dog food."

"And where are you gonna ship them from? Your boy group from Korea? Or my idiot of the best friend who you're pinning for?" Zhenyi asked, cocking her head.

"Remind me again why we are friends?"Fan Bingbing grumbled.

Did she have to rub salt on her fresh wounds? Then again, why she was not surprised!

"Because I'm the awesome friend in the whole wide world," Zhenyi said with her signature serious expressions but Long Jie could discern a flicker of mischief in her eyes.

He really, really liked mischievous Zhenyi beyond words.

"Narcissistic" Bingbing muttered under her breath.

She then looked at her husband and grinned. Oddly enough, she wanted to hug him and so she did,  a little longer than before. She couldn't decipher the feelings brewing inside her.

Was it panic? But why?

The same feeling from before was back. She tried to ignore it again but she was not able to.

Fortunately, he didn't notice anything wrong with her.

"Take care." With a final kiss on her cheek, he grumbly said good bye and left for the office.

But little did he knew that the next time he would see his wife would be the time when he would lose the most important thing to himself.
