"Please, tell me that I am still stuck in my never-ending dream and this one is a little more funny than the rest," said Zhenyi, placing the glass on the table, she stood up and walked to where the file on Ryuu's to be bride was kept.
This had to be a dream because all these weird things didn't happen in real life. She was right, wasn't she?
Of course, she had to be. Who in hell marries someone who was already engaged to someone else?
Absolutely not...Ryuu.
Who despised the institution of marriage more than anyone on this not-so-pleasant planet.
"I'm afraid Miss Xin, it's not a dream but a true circumstance," Tang Yuzhang spoke. He had nothing more to say.
It appeared someone had rendered him speechless. Reducing his normally higher IQ to the number of his shoe size.
Xin Yichen held up his hand in resignation. "I don't know what to do with this situation anymore."
Obviously, any sane man would avoid this situation at any cost. But who was the sane among these insane dignitaries?
Apparently no one...
At the first glance, Zhenyi's eyes went to the girl's picture and the details penned below it. Thankfully there was a picture of the beautiful flower that was going to be her sister-in-law but she didn't know how to till now. To tell the truth, the young woman was truly very beautiful but so were many other women out there. She still couldn't understand the difference between her and others.
In the picture, she was holding a paintbrush in her hands, and judging from her posture, it seemed like she was painting on a canvas. Her eyes were absorbed by what her hands were creating.
She was beautiful and... nothing else.
If someone asked her to define the girl in a single word it would be -- plain.
With a sigh, Zhenyi turned to the other page, and the information about the girl's fiance came into her view.
Huo Yusheng. That was the boy's name. It looked like he was the same age as the girl and were engaged to each other since they were born.
'Very well!' Zhenyi cursed in her brain.
"What?" asked Xin Yichen as he saw a scowl marred on her forehead.
"He is not kidding," Zhenyi said with a sigh. "The girl really has a fiance and it seems they will be getting married soon."
"It appeared like Ryuu will be stealing another bride very soon." She added.
"Another?" Xin Yichen frowned and Tang Yuzhang almost fell from his chair as he heard what Zhenyi said.
Zhenyi nodded. "Just a few months ago, he ambushed a church in New York and helped his so-called friends in stealing a mafia don's daughter."
"I can't believe this hypocrite son of mine really stole a bride and that too by ambushing a church. Dear Lord, and here he was seething when your wedding was ambushed." Of course, Xin Yichen was surprised. This son of his was totally following her mother's footsteps, but he forgot that he was no less in his younger days.
"Chill, Bà it's no big deal."
Tang Yuzhang looked at Zhenyi in bewilderment. Was stealing a bride no big deal? It seemed like there would be another stealing case soon.
"Zhenyi, I will never allow my son to steal this Ming girl and then marry her. God forbid, she may be in love with this fiance of hers! " Xin Yichen scolded his daughter. "And are you sure she already has a fiance? Your mom is not so unreasonable to separate two lovers."
Zhenyi handed her father the file and pointed at the page he had ignored in his rage. "See, Ming Xiuying and Huo Yusheng are getting married soon and as the file says, they are childhood sweethearts."
Xin Yichen rubbed his temple and said in exasperation," Just what your mom was thinking then?"
He had been proven wrong again.
"I have no idea, Bà. She is your wife first, and you must know about what transpired in her brain," Zhenyi retorted.
"Master Yichen, if you allow me to point out?" Tang Yuzhang's voice boomed.
Xin Yichen grunted in reply.
"Miss Xin, can you please show Master Yichen who is the mother of Ming Xiuying?" Tang Yuzhang asked her.
She took back the file from her father's hands and opened the page which contains Ming Xiuying's mother's information.
"It's someone named Song Yunxi."
"What?" Xin Yichen took the file from her daughter's hand, his eyes wide. "It can't be what I am thinking, could it be, Tang Yuzhang?"
Tang Yuzhang refrained from making a comment at this moment. It had taken him years to understand this connection between the mother of the girl and Tang Reine.
To say the truth, he was appalled when he noticed that.
"Bà, what happened?" Zhenyi asked the wide-eyed Xin Yichen. She still couldn't get what had stunned his father so much.
Xin Yichen laughed mirthlessly."Zhenyi, your mother outwitted everyone again. Here, I was thinking all along that she had forgiven her years ago on my account but, no...you can't change the core of a person. What a wicked woman I had married!"
"Bà, what happened?"
"This Song Yunxi is Song Lily's sister," replied Xin Yichen.
"What?"
"Yes. She and I were friends before Song Lily and Tang Reine came into the picture." Xin Yichen smiled bitterly.
She sighed before asking, "Bà, what's the feud between mom and my mother-in-law?"
"Princess, I would rather you not intrude in this matter. It's something very sensitive that no one will want to talk about. So, don't try to dig these past skeletons, it will just harm the people we love."
After hearing Xin Yichen's reply, Zhenyi decided to not ask about this matter anymore. Once Grandmother Mian said the same thing to her and she understood that time. But she could decipher that the matter was not a simple one.
"So, what's the deal with this Song Yunxi?" She asked instead.
