Xiuying woke up to an empty and cold bed, she touched the side of the bed and saw Ryuu was not there. She got out of the sheet and tied her nightdress. She looked around only to find Ryuu smoking on the balcony, staring at nothing.
Xiuying walked in his direction, embracing his body from behind. She asked in a soft voice "Why are you not sleeping?"
Ryuu let her hug him and took another gust of the cigarette. Crushing the cigarette with the flower pot, he replied. "Wicked never sleeps."
"Neither do the wealthy," Xiuying retorted.
"But you were sleeping fine," Ryuu removed her arms, and turned around to look at her.
Xiuying laughed, "I'm no wealthy woman. People think that I'm but I'm just a daughter of a wealthy father and wife of an even more wealthy husband. I'm worth nothing if separated from my husband and father."
"You are worth something, Ming Xiuying," Ryuu whispered as he held up her chin with his index finger while staring into her eyes. "If you were as worthless as you treat yourself, you wouldn't be enjoying the title of my wife."
Ming Xiuying's eyes turned sad as she whispered back, "As I've said before I'm just a wife of a wealthy husband. My worth comes with a title, not within me."
Ryuu took a step ahead and Xiuying took a step behind, still staring into each other's eyes. When her back was against the wall, Ryuu said, "Your husband is a wanted man. If you kill him, you can be a proud owner of billions. What else are you waiting for? Take your chance, and seize your wealth."
"Why would you do that?"
"Do what?"
"Test me all the time. Don't you trust me?"
"Every moment of life is a test, Xiuying," Ryuu answered her."As for trusting you, trust is hard-earned, not distributed like grants. I don't trust easily. And people I trust never betray me. Do you know why?"
Xiuying hadn't probably noticed before as to how close she was standing to him. A cold shiver ran down her spine. She answered in a broken voice, "Because they are your utmost loyals?"
Ryuu's chest vibrated with laughter, "No, Xiuying. They never break my trust because I kill them before giving them a chance to be called my disloyals."
Xiuying flinched after hearing his reply. Zhenyi was right, Ryuu words were indeed honey dipped vicious. She couldn't imagine that a man as beautiful as him could do something as heinous as killing someone. Perhaps, she didn't know him at all. And she didn't know if she had the courage to know him better.
After amassing tons of courage, Xiuying spoke in her usual sweet and soft voice,"Can I ask you a question?"
Ryuu nodded at her. He was staring at her but she didn't know why it came off like he wasn't seeing exactly her. He was an enigma. The closer she tried to be to him, the more complex her life was becoming. He was like that endless abyss which held nothing but mysteries and puzzles. If she tried to touch one, several more would emerge. He was so dangerous for her that she wanted to run thousands of miles away from him yet there were some mysterious magnetic forces emitted by him that held her hostage. He was like that bewitching legend that we had just heard but never seen, who lured innocent beings such as her in his sweet trap.
"What were you asking?" Ryuu said after a while when she didn't raise the question. She was staring weirdly and creepily at him as if he was some demon she wanted to run away from but at the same time, she wanted to capture him to exhibit in some museum like those damn fossils.
Xiuying came out of their thoughts as she heard his voice.
"I was asking why are you upset? Is it because of what happened at Xin mansion today?" Xiuying asked Ryuu.
"To be honest, I don't know what to feel about it. We both have been living as someone else for as long as we remember, hiding our real power and true form. Behind this facade of lavish characters of ours, lie someone else, someone who's begging to be unleashed."
"Your answer is just as puzzling as you,"Xiuying sighed. " I wish I could understand your words."
"And I wish my woman can understand me without any words."

"Here I thought you invited me to finally meet my granddaughter," Esma said, drowning the glass of alcohol.
"Why don't you like her momma's company?" Alcina growled at her. She could see Esma sitting on the stool, and a waiter pouring drinks for her, but she could vouch that he was trying to peek at her half hidden boobies.
"But I really want to see what Lord Tang's offspring looks like," Esma nonchalantly replied. She seductively smiled at the waiter and he poured another drink for her.
Alcina angrily pointed her finger at the waiter and said," You! Young boy! Turn your eyes before I pluck them out to play balls."
The horrified waiter looked at Esma who just shrugged. "Don't worry, little human. I will buy you new eyeballs."
Poor waiter didn't know what to do, and so he ran backside and minutes later, a female attendant came.
'I need to come to this bar more often. I didn't know that I could find some mouth watering human here! What a feast!'
The waitress didn't know why but a shiver ran down her spine.
"So why are we here?" Esma asked Alcina, her eyes stuck on the dance floor where Alcina was already gazing.
"Just out to enjoy some drinks," Alcina said, her eyes still stuck on the crowd.
"And you want me to believe it?" Esma sneered.
"Do you have any other option?" Alcina asked back.
"If you say so---" As Esma was about to complete her sentence, she saw Alcina running towards the crowd where a young man who happened to just look at Alcina, fled.
Esma turned to look at the shocked waitress and whispered,"Oh, honey, my friend just went out to have a little meeting with her pal, and I just happened to be cashless. Do you perhaps accept payment with something other than money?"
The waitress gulped as she saw a dark goddess descended from God knows where bending before her, dressed in her signature black clothes.
"Ummm…"
"Restroom?" Esma winked and the blushing waitress nodded.
(Rest is up to your imagination!)
