The Next Morning.
Long Jie touched the other side of the bed, half-asleep, when the cold sheets came in contact with his hand, he woke up with a jerk. He rubbed his eyes and found the bed empty. Only he knew how much it scared him to not find his wife beside him.
'The trauma of losing your wife again is dangerous, I tell you!'
"Zhenyi?"
As Zhenyi emerged from the closet space, she heard Long Jie calling him. "What happened?"
She couldn't suppress the odd feeling that rose inside her when she heard her husband anxiously calling for her.
"Where are you going so early?" Long Jie asked her immediately when he saw her dressed in her professional clothes.
'She looks edible.' It was the first thought which came into his mind. Just a single glimpse of her and his heart is back to normal state.
Zhenyi looked at her wristwatch and said, "I have to bring some important stuff from the mansion in the south. Plus, I'm thinking of dropping Alcina personally. She is ready and waiting for me."
"But it's still early," stressed Long Jie. He then said in a whiny voice," Come sleep with me for a little longer. Or at least cuddle with me."
Zhenyi shook her head at his antics. Since when did he start acting like a needy kid. Walking towards him, she kissed his cheek and said, "Stop acting spoiled. I really have something important to do today. Otherwise, I wouldn't have said no to you."
"Fine," Long Jie sighed. "But you will have to accompany me for lunch. And in the evening you are attending a Charity Gala with me."
Zhenyi looked at him in horror. "Charity Gala? Do you know how difficult it is to talk with dumb wives who have nothing interesting to talk about?" She gave him a pleading stare, "Can we cancel this Gala program? I'm totally fine with lunch."
"Nope," Long Jie quickly denied. He grabbed her arm and pulled her into his arms."I want to show off my wife. I never agreed to a hidden marriage."
Since Zhenyi knew there was no way she could convince Long Jie now, she agreed with his plans. She quickly got out of his hold and, picking her handbag, she ran out of the room before he would get a chance to hold herself back.
"My cruel wife," Long Jie said and went back to sleep.

"Did you tell Grandma that you are leaving?" Zhenyi asked Alcina as they settled inside the car. Today, Zhenyi decided to drive herself to the office.
Alcina gave her a blank look, "I'm not ready for this big family. I think it's better if I maintain distance from the old lady."
"Alcina, don't punish the innocents. Grandma has already seen a lot of suffering in her life. If your arrival can ebb her grief, why not develop a relationship with her?"
Alcina laughed at Zhenyi's words. "You are too naive, Zhenyi. You give way too much importance to this institution called 'family' and one day, this family will hurt in the worst way possible."
Zhenyi shook her head. "Didn't dad accept you wholeheartedly to the family? Why are you still guarded against all of them?"
"Accept me?" Alcina scoffed. "I threatened him. I must agree that your mom's name acted as a catalyst."
Zhenyi thought she shouldn't be surprised but she actually was.
"How was your relationship with mom?" Zhenyi asked after a while.
"We were enemies. She never liked me. And I hated her to the core," Alcina said in a soft voice. "I was everything which she was in her days back then. She was haughty, arrogant, and way too show off but brave and intelligent. As a person, I hate her personality but as a teacher, I respect and admire her."
"I can't believe that she never liked you," Zhenyi said while driving. "I mean as much as I know she raised you practically."
"I was almost eleven when she died. But I remember most of the memories involving her. Because I have never met a human as infuriating as her, "Alcina muttered.

"You just came here for a box?" Alcina asked Zhenyi as the latter came out of the master bedroom with a small box in her hand.
Zhenyi just shrugged in reply. That's because she didn't know what the box contained.
"Miss Alcina, thank God you are here, " the butler came running to Alcina. She actually had tears of frustration in her eyes. As she saw Zhenyi standing next to Alcina, she stopped and bowed to greet her. "Young Madam, welcome come."
Zhenyi nodded. She was actually curious to meet this daughter of Alcina since last night. Because things were appearing too suggestive to be true.
As Zhenyi reached the dining table, she saw a man coaxing a little kid in a sickly sweet voice. She had an urge to vomit right there.
As if he could feel the two eyes boring into his skull, he turned his head only to find Zhenyi staring at her. He stiffened and the spoon in his hand froze in the air.
"Mrs. Long?" Feng Siyan managed to utter.
Zhenyi grinned, lifting up her brow. Feng Siyan gulped as he saw a wicked look passing her face. He would have to choose his next words very carefully or shouldn't speak at all.
'This woman is real evil, I tell you.' He glanced at Alcina who was scowling at him as if he was the one in the wrong. 'Why must I be surrounded by wicked women! Have they stopped making sweet and kind women?'
She pulled out a chair for herself and sat on it. Now her mismatched eyes were examining a certain green-eyed kid who was staring back at her with equal fascination.
Zhenyi put forward her hand before the kid. "Hi. I'm Xin Zhenyi. It's very nice to finally meet you, Faye."
