Absolutely stunning; that was the first thought that came into Xia Tian’s mind. He was not fond of women with makeup, but this woman had not overdone it, and yet she was able to bring out the best of her beauty. A rose might have beauty but its grace could not be brought out without its leaves.
All those beauties in drama series paled in comparison to her.
Her charm was definitely on another level and she had the figure to match. She was different from the nurse. The nurse’s outfit hid her figure but this woman knew how to dress to showcase her body.
The makeup and clothing were merely props to compliment her.
It was not just Xia Tian, even Doctor Li’s eyes fastened on her but he quickly regained his cool and lowered his head, afraid to look further. “Mrs. Ceng, you’re here.”
“Thank you, Doctor Li.” Mrs. Ceng’s voice was oriole-like, it was like her voice could very well linger in one’s soul.
“Mrs. Ceng, you’re here just in time. This young man wishes to be discharged and won’t listen to my advice. I was about to give Director Ceng a call.” Doctor Li dared not lift his head. He knew he could not gaze at her beauty. They were not of the same class, after all.
Mrs. Ceng was a legendary figure. She entered the trade at the age of eighteen, expanding the Ceng family business. She was married at twenty-five but her husband died less than two weeks after. Now at thirty, she was at the top of her field in Jianghai City.
“You haven’t recovered, why do you want to be discharged?” Ceng Rou stared at Xia Tian, baffled.
“I have things to take care of and I need to take the NCEE. That’s two weeks from now.” Xia Tian did not use his Insight on Mrs. Ceng. Her current apparel was already too much for him to handle.
“The NCEE? Don’t bother, just take your rest. Once you’re okay, I’ll arrange for you to enter the best college and provide you a sum of money, as a gesture to thank you,” Ceng Rou expressionlessly uttered. She was no saint. On the contrary, she could be considered a bad person, or it would have been impossible for her to set foot in the business world. She believed everything had a price, and she would be grateful for Xia Tian saving her daughter by providing him the best healthcare, and later, a sum of cash.
Xia Tian despised people throwing money at his face the most, even his girlfriend left him because of money.
“I don’t need it.” Xia Tian’s expression turned cold. He may be poor, but he would never take someone’s money. He rescued the girl out of his free will, regardless of her identity.
This was the teaching his father enforced in him. His father once told him to never bully the weak nor submit to the strong. If he wanted to be a bully, he should go bully the strong.
The people present in the room were bewildered by Xia Tian’s response. This would be considered a godsend for anyone else.
“A million.” Ceng Rou too saw the change in Xia Tian but she did not believe in a world where there were people who were not in love with money. She had seen one too many of these gentlemen and these gentlemen left her disappointed in the end. They were only so-called gentlemen because the price was not right.
“Humph!” Xia Tian coldly snorted and turned away. He continued making way towards the door. Although he was not fast, he was not slow either.
“Two million.” Ceng Rou raised her price. Her face did not reveal any sentiment.
Xia Tian refused to speak this time as he made it to the door.
“Five million.” Ceng Rou immediately raised the price to five million, and just then, Xia Tian stopped in his tracks and turned back.
Seeing Xia Tian, Ceng Rou expression betrayed her disdain. The nurse and Doctor Li nodded. No one could refuse Ceng Rou’s price.
“I will have someone send the money over and arrange the best university for you in Jianghai,” Ceng Rou replied with confidence. Xia Tian’s pride was only an act to raise his price.
Xia Tian moved step by step towards Ceng Rou and turned his head towards the nurse when he reached her. “Can you lend me a hundred? I will return you the money.”
“Ah!” The nurse was stunned but quickly forked out a hundred yuan note.
“Thank you, my name is Xia Tian.” Xia Tian smiled at the nurse before turning to leave the room. The three left in the room were gobsmacked, including the gorgeous Ceng Rou. She had only managed to predict the beginning of that episode.
The moment Xia Tian turned back, Ceng Rou thought she had it in the bag, but now she felt that she had lost.
Xia Tian had turned back not because of the five million, but to borrow a hundred from the nurse. Ceng Rou’s face turned red and soon afterwards, she left the room. It was her first encounter with someone like Xia Tian.
“What an odd fellow,” The nurse muttered to herself.
Xia Tian waved down a cab after leaving the hospital and headed towards his cousin sister’s place. As he was wounded, he could not stay at his workplace, so he had to return to his cousin sister’s home.
Xia Tian’s aunt was quite loaded. The house was bought by her for his cousin sister and him, and it was luxuriously decorated and equipped with various facilities. This was also the reason why Xia Tian did not like returning. He did not feel like he belonged there.
Although he only earned a little over a thousand bucks every month, it was his own hard-earned cash so he could spend without worry.
Back home, his cousin sister had yet to return. Luckily the door was opened with a password or he would not be able to get in. He changed his clothes without opening his cabinet, for the clothes in there were mostly branded and were bought by his cousin sister, but he never wore them. The few clothes that hung beneath were bought by him. The most expensive one was only about a hundred bucks but he felt grounded in them.
He opened a drawer, and in it was a tiny box. Inside the box was a blue necklace, which when placed in the palm of his hands emitted a sky blue glow. It was his father’s.
” Tian’er 1 , if one day you’re met with danger or are severely wounded, put this on. This was left by your mother for you.”
These were the words from his father when he received the necklace. His father had also told him that he was only to wear it only under special circumstances, and it was best if he did not. The last item left behind by his mother was better in safekeeping.
“Father, I will wear it today.” Xia Tian placed the necklace over his neck. At the sparkle of the necklace’s brilliance, Xia Tian lost consciousness. When he had come to, it was already dark. He realized that the wounds on his body had disappeared.
Everything felt like a dream but he quickly realized something important. The glow on the necklace was gone. It was now dark blue, and Xia Tian, meanwhile, looked like he had shed some skin. He rubbed away a piece of skin on his injury to realise it was gone.
Xia Tian continued to check on the other injuries on his body, and they were all missing. The bruises and swells in other areas were all better as well.
‘I’ve only heard of snakes shedding their skin. Why am I doing that? I guess I’ll take a bath before thinking over this.’ Li Yi was feeling icky over the shedding of skin so he headed straight to his bathroom.
Just then, the bathroom door swung open and out came a beautiful girl. This beautiful girl with a towel wrapped around her almost bumped into Xia Tian.
“Ah!!” Came a loud shriek.
“What? What?” Xia Tian’s cousin sister sprung out of her room and realized what had happened the moment she saw the two.
“Alright, Bingxin, you can stop your yelling. He’s my cousin brother.”
“Xia Tian, when did you return? I’ve been home all day but I didn’t see you come in.” Xia Tian’s cousin sister was called Ye Qingxue. She took large strides towards the girl named Bingxin.
“Home all day?” Xia Tian paused before looking at the date on the wall. He had passed out for two days.
Then all this was not a dream. He did save a little girl and had ended up injured in a hospital. The girl’s mother tried to give him five million, which he did not accept, and even more important than that was his Insight and the blue necklace.
With that in mind, his Insight was activated.
“Winnie the Pooh.” Bingxin’s underwear was in full display to Xia Tian. He believed his eyes were not playing tricks on him.
The girls’ expression changed at Xia Tian’s words.
“Xia Tian, you peeping tom! I’m going to beat you up.” Ye Qingxue rolled up her sleeves to punch Xia Tian, but to his surprise, her movements were super slow. His eyes were focused on his cousin sister’s forearm. A prompt entered his mind’s eye, as if to tell him hitting that point would disarm his cousin.
Of course, he was not going to do that. Instead, he sprinted into the bathroom.
This sort of thing was inexplicable. He knew he was right. If he were to tell his cousin sister he only guessed it, his cousin sister would not believe him. However, if he were to tell his cousin sister about his vision, she would broadcast it to the world.
If that happened, he would be caught and end up a lab rat.
After entering the bathroom, Xia Tian stared at his necklace. The glow on the necklace had disappeared completely. The necklace would glimmer in its sky blue radiance when he used to pick it up before, but try as he might now, the blue glow was nowhere to be seen.
‘Could it be related to my injury?’ Xia Tian was swiftly aware that he had cuts and bruises but after putting on the necklace, both his injuries and the glow on the necklace vanished.
‘My father must be talking about this. This necklace healed my wounds.’ Xia Tian tightened his grasp on the necklace.
