The assassination business was a highly dangerous one. It was very likely they would not wake up to see the sun tomorrow, and it was because of this exact uncertainty that many low-tier-assassins picked up bad habits such as drug abuse, gambling, and lust.
On the contrary, a real high-tier-assassin had none of those bad habits. This was because they knew very well that one mistake was all it would take for them to lose their lives.
Shadow was only a Tier-Three Assassin from Quicksand. Although he was not substandard, he was certainly not the best. In Quicksand, the assassins were roughly divided into five tiers; Tier-Five was the worst, and normally meant trainees who were new to the organization. Next were the Tier-Four Assassins who had just gotten on track. As for Tier-Three Assassins like Shadow, they were merely considered experienced members.
He was feeling hopeless about advancing to the next tier, and that there was a limit to his capability, so he decided he wanted to enjoy life instead. Nonetheless, it did not mean that he was going to quit Quicksand to enjoy the rest of his life, because quitting Quicksand meant death.
Nobody could leave Quicksand alive.
This was also why a huge amount of Tier-Three Assassins in Quicksand eventually turned to habits like that.
For a period of time, an amorous atmosphere filled the room. Xia Tian and Lin Bingbing enjoyed the show as they peeped through the cubicle gap.
‘How shameless!’ Lin Bingbing thought to herself. She could not believe that the two of them made such a deal in a place like this. Despite that, she dared not react or move too much, lest Shadow noticed them.
Currently, she was also in quite a spectacular position with Xia Tian. She was just in front of him as the two of them leaned against the door.
In that precarious position, Lin Bingbing felt a bulge pressed against her back.
‘Eh, he brought his weapon along.’ Lin Bingbing thought, but quickly realized that it was Xia Tian who was behind him, thus the strange thing that she felt must be a dagger of some sort.
‘Perhaps it’s a secret weapon.’ Previously, she felt that Xia Tian was odd. Now, she finally knew that he was a coward too for bringing a dagger while carrying out his task.
When she realized that she was delighted. Ever since the beginning of the night, she had no sense of worth at all.
Finally, she finally had something on Xia Tian. It turned out that Xia Tian was a scaredy-cat who actually brought his weapon out for his task. As such, she decided that she had to sneer at him later.
In order to avoid being noticed by Shadow, Xia Tian dared not move. He was already drenched in sweat because of this, and he knew that Lin Bingbing would tear him apart if she were to find out.
Soon enough, though, he noticed that Lin Bingbing had found out about this. That being said, he could not make sense of why she was not only calm, but was also smiling.
‘Could it be that she only looks cold on the outside, but is actually an open-minded woman?’ As soon as Xia Tian thought about this, he was feeling even more turned on.
Approximately 20 minutes later, the action outside finally ended. Xia Tian was relieved.
“Oh! Is this your girlfriend? She’s quite pretty.” The lady picked up a photo from the ground, and the angle allowed Xia Tian and Lin Bingbing to get a good look at the person in the photo.
“Give it back to me.” Shadow quickly snatched the photo, then retrieved 2000 RMB from his wallet. “Here. Forget the person in the photo.”
“Okay, okay, okay. We have our rules, I’ll never tell on your girlfriend.” The lady thought that Shadow was worried that she would tell on him and explained as such.
Shadow nodded satisfyingly at those words then left the washroom. Following suit, the lady left happily behind him.
At the moment, Xia Tian furrowed his brows. The person in the photo was Ceng Rou, which was not something he had expected. Since that was the case, he was definitely not going to let Shadow go.
Right now, he considered Ceng Rou as his other half. When they were faced with the people from Quicksand, she stood in front of him, which proved her feelings for Xia Tian.
Although the two of them had only met a few times, their feelings had sparked in a split second.
He recalled his encounter with Ceng Rou. From the car accident to the kidnapping and now, the assassination. It looked like there was a big scheme. Someone wanted her dead.
“You’ve accomplished your task, you can make your call now.” Xia Tian told Lin Bingbing plainly.
“What weapon are you hiding?” Lin Bingbing asked Xiatian, “I can’t believe you’re such a coward, you actually brought your weapon along. Is it a dagger?”
“What weapon?” Xia Tian was confused.
“That hard object just now, I think you hid it in your pocket.” Lin Bingbing looked at Xia Tian’s trousers, but did not find any weapon.
“Ahem!” Xia Tian cleared his throat, and quickly explained, “Yes, you’re right, I hid a weapon. Quick, go inform Aunt Ye, he returned to his private room, I don’t think he’ll be leaving tonight.”
“Alright, I’ll go make a call, the connection’s not good here.” When Xia Tian admitted to her accusation, Lin Bingbing was pleased. She immediately went out to make the call.
As Xia Tian watched her leave, he sighed a long breath of relief. He was glad that Lin Bingbing did not realize what the “weapon” was, or she would blow up then and there, which would be troublesome.
Since Xia Tian knew about Shadow’s task now, he was not going to let him go. Regardless of when his aunt’s men were arriving, he wanted to get rid of Shadow as soon as possible, lest he escaped. He was certainly not going to let anyone put Ceng Rou in their sights.
Once he left the washroom, he walked toward Shadow’s private room.
For Shadow, this was a safe haven. Nobody would expect an assassin to be resting in a KTV room. Since he had just gone through some intense action, he was now resting on the long couch.
He was still lingering in the memory of his beautiful experience with that lady just now, and was all smiles. Shadow swore that he would take time off for a few days after he finished his task and relax.
Lately, assignments were piling up and he felt the need to relax his mind. Just as he was immersed in his own thoughts, the door suddenly opened.
“Who’s that?” Shadow quickly sat up, and raised his guard as he looked at the door.
“Someone who’s going to end you.”
