108 They Sent Her Red Packets and Were Treating Her to A Meal
“Auntie, Jiejie doesn’t know how to use a knife and a fork. I need your help.” Li Zekai jumped down from his seat and ran to Lin Wan to hold her hand.
Li Zexin stood between the two of them like a hurdle. “Isn’t big brother sitting beside you? He will help you cut the meat. Don’t bother her.” He turned to Lin Wan with a smile. “Ms. Lin, why don’t you sit here beside me? I will help you cut the steak.”
Li Zexuan was stunned. So was Lin Wan.
In the end, to prevent any more dispute, she sat on a chair opposite to the three.
!!
“Sit where you are,” said Lin Wan. “You obviously know how to cut steak and eat it. Let’s eat and go home early. I have some things I need to take care of.”
Last time, Li Zekai brought her candies. Today, the three of them had created a group chat without adding Li Yanchen. They sent her Red Packets and were treating her to a meal. Li Yanchen was on a business trip. She wondered if the little devils were planning something.
It was getting even more suspicious because the three children wanted to help her cut her meat during the entire meal. Even Li Zekai, who had made a great show of not knowing how to cut his meat, clumsily picked up a knife and a fork.
Her stepsons’ behavior was getting stranger by the minute. After eating the meal, she rushed out to the car. Li Zexuan hastily paid the bills and followed behind her with his younger brothers.
In the living room of the Royal Water Bay, Lin Wan had her hands on her waist. “I am going back to my room now. Don’t disturb me, alright? I really have something important to do.”
“Okay.” The three children lowered their heads and nodded.
Lin Wan locked her bedroom door. She had two things to attend to. The online interview and the class reunion.
Luo Xi had sent a message in the day to inform her that everyone was expected to gather at the school gate to take a group photo at ten in the morning. Old alumni weren’t allowed to enter the school to maintain order and to ensure safety of the students and staff. They had only given them permission to gather at the main gate to take a photo.
Lin Wan was not interested in the group photo and found an excuse to not attend it. She informed Luo Xi that she would directly meet them at the Global Hotel at noon where the reunion was arranged.
When Luo Xi saw her reply, he was disappointed. After the college entrance exams, his classmates had returned to the school to take a group photo in the past. Lin Wan hadn’t appeared. He had thought that after ten years, he could finally take a photo with her and make up for some of his regrets. However, it seemed that was not to be.
But Luo Xi understood. He didn’t press her. “Alright. I will inform everyone that you will be at Global Hotel at noon.”
Seeing that the day for the reunion was getting closer and closer, Lin Wan was a little nervous. She wasn’t afraid of meeting her so-called classmates who had hurt her. After seeing the preparations made by the entire class, she felt that exposing Wu Zhenzhen and the others would ruin the reunion entirely.
She asked Xia Mo if she should do that. “Why not?” Xia Mo had said. “It’s better to take extra reporters or two. Maybe you aren’t the only one they hurt. There might be other victims. Since so many people are attending, they should know what kind of people they are.” Xia Mo was of the opinion that if they were that bad at school, they might not even have changed. It was better for everybody.
Lin Wan was still thinking about how to not affect the other students when Li Yanchen called.
“I just reached. Did you guys eat?”
“We did. We just got home. Luo Xi sent me the details for the reunion lunch.” Lin Wan sat on the bed, looking up at the ceiling.
“Aright. I cleared my schedule for that day. Wanwan, I will accompany you, no matter what.” Li Yanchen was on his way to Party B’s company with his briefcase. “We can talk after the meeting. But it might last for the whole night. Anyway, you should rest. Oh… and Xinxin and Xuanxuan left the group chat because they were angry at me.” Li Yanchen explained. He didn’t want Lin Wan to think that his sons had left the chat because of her.
“I know. They made another group called “Four Lucky Treasures” and added me there.”
Li Yanchen’s heart sank. His sons were so angry that they had made another group chat and deliberately excluded him. All this time, he was worried about Lin Wan, but he thought he should be worried about himself as well.
“Four Lucky Treasures?” repeated Li Yanchen. “You four?”
During the day, under the guidance of Secretary Han, he had created a family group chat and sent out a few apologetic Red Packets. He was still thinking about how to liven up the group and be the initiator in the future.
Unexpectedly, this organization had disbanded after only a few minutes. Now, all of them were huddled together in another group chat while completely excluding him. ‘Am I not the head of the family?’
“What about me?” Li Yanchen asked.
“Don’t you have a meeting to attend? Go quickly now. Goodbye.” Lin Wan was still wondering why her three stepsons had formed a group chat with her and named it “Four Lucky Treasures”.
Li Yanchen hung up with a long face. Secretary Han had heard everything. He was the one who had helped his boss create the group chat. Now, there were new developments.
‘Boss created a group chat for the family. His sons left it in anger and created another with all of them except him. Boss is really depressed now.’
“Secretary Han.”
Secretary Han flinched. Li Yanchen glared at him. “Can there be more than one family group chats?”
“Yes.”
“I wouldn’t have created it if you had told me earlier.”
Secretary Han pursed his lips. He was tired of seeing his boss text all of them individually so he had helped him to create a group chat so he could message them all together.
“I’m sorry, boss.”
“Hurry up and drive. What are you waiting for?” Li Yanchen urged.
Secretary Han sighed and started the car
At Royal Water Bay Villa, Li Zexin made his way up the stairs. He wanted to talk to Lin Wan about something. But he was pulled back by Li Zekai.
“Brother, Auntie Lin told us not to disturb her.”
“You’re that obedient?”
“Yes,” said Li Zekai. “Don’t make her angry. I don’t want her to leave. When she is here, dad will be home more often”
Li Zexin retreated back to the sofa. “So, Ms. Lin is a tool to keep dad around? But I really do see her as my friend.”
Li Zekai blinked. “What do you mean by a tool?”
“Forget it, you should study more. Brother, do you think so too?” Li Zexin turned to Li Zexuan.
Li Zexuan was on his phone when he heard his younger brother ask him a question. “Hey, it’s between you two. Why are you dragging me into it so suddenly?”
“Tell me, do you think so too?” Li Zexin’s voice became louder.
When Li Zexuan refused to answer, Li Zexin went very close to his ear to shout in it.
Li Zexuan didn’t understand why his brother was angry, but he didn’t want to say anything. The more silent he remained; the more aggressive Li Zexin became.
“Jiejie just said it casually. Why are you so anxious? ” Soon, the two of them started pushing each other.
Lin Wan probably never imagined that her two stepsons would be fighting over her.
Auntie Huang, who was roasting corn in the yard, heard the commotion in the living room and quickly walked in.
She pulled the two of them away. “Weren’t you fine just a moment ago? Why are you fighting? The corn is almost done. Go wash your hands. I brought it from my hometown. You won’t find them in the city. Give two to Madam.”
