184 Everything Around Me Has Changed
The host’s painting seemed to be of her original world.
Lin Wan looked for Li Yanchen to ask him for confirmation.
“Is this building in Yun City?” She pointed at the picture.
Chenxin was in the downtown area of Yun City, surrounded by all kinds of high-rise buildings, including other small communities, especially with similar color tones.
!!
“I think I’ve seen it before. Many of the districts in the city have this color.” Li Yanchen did not think much of it.
Perhaps the Lin Wan of the past was just passing by and casually drew it. “Look here! It’s written in Thirty Ink Shades. That’s the name of the town in the neighborhood, right?” Lin Wan noticed the bold words on the roof of the building.
There were so many communities in Yun City, she doubted anybody would know this neighborhood besides Li Yanchen.
“I have a friend in the real estate industry. I can ask him to check it out. Wanwan, does this prove anything?” Li Yanchen did not understand why she was so eager to know about this.
“I keep feeling like I’ve seen this building somewhere before, but other than Chenxin, I’ve only been to a testing agency and a bank in Yun City. I didn’t see such a building on my way there.” Lin Wan suspected that the sketch in the original owner’s picture book was not from this world.
“I’ll ask Xixi,” said Lin Wan. Although she knew that Yang Ruoxi had only traveled to country Y, she might still find this familiar from somewhere.
Yang Ruoxi was still chatting with the Auntie, who was telling her about Lin Wan’s condition from three years ago.
Yang Ruoxi was stunned. The Lin Wan she knew was an extrovert. Although she had no family, she was very optimistic. She was a completely different person from the depressed girl that the Auntie described.
The Auntie also provided an important clue. In the past, Lin Wan would always say things that she did not understand. She had once said that she had gone to an unfamiliar world and everything around her had changed. Or, she would say that she had a stable job in the other world and her colleagues were always so good to her.
…
Lin Wan , in the other world, was a live streamer. So, she definitely didn’t have a stable job and income. She lived in a small studio that she had bought. She had no other employees. The only person she was in contact with was Yang Ruoxi, who would only reply to Lin Wan’s messages when she was free. She was Lin Wan’s best friend. Many fans liked Lin Wan and always sent her gifts.
“Auntie, do you still remember what happened in the past?” Yang Ruoxi still did not believe that Auntie was from this world.
The Auntie was deep in thought. “I remember. Three years ago, Mr. Li found me at the domestic service center and hired me to take care of Xiao Wan here.”
“After that, Xiao Wan was taken away, but Yanchen pitied me for not having a family and a place to stay, so he let me stay here. My salary wasn’t reduced at all, but when I mentioned that I didn’t want it, he wouldn’t hear of it.” The Auntie was in her 50s and she was not from Yun City.
She remembered that she was from Mountain City. One year, the village was flooded, and the houses were washed away. Although the village was rebuilt later, Auntie Bao still chose to leave the village and go to Yun City.
Before she came to the Lin family, she had just arrived in Yun City. Auntie Bao was quite glad to have met such a good person, although Lin Wan’s illness was a little scary for her in the beginning.
The Auntie made it sound so real that Yang Ruoxi almost believed it was all a coincidence.
“Auntie? Xixi? Have you seen this place before?” Lin Wan asked.
The old Auntie and Yang Ruoxi looked at the drawing.
“Isn’t this the neighborhood next to the stadium?” Yang Ruoxi knew the place. In her original world, she always passed by that place when she went to work.
“The stadium?” asked Lin Wan. “Is it in Yun City?”
“The Red Mist Stadium near where I used to work. It wasn’t far from your home. Maybe you didn’t notice,” said Yang Ruoxi. “This sketch book is hers?”
Lin Wan nodded. “The Red Mist Stadium. How could she have drawn that?”
Li Yanchen and Auntie Bao looked at each other, completely unable to understand what the two people were talking about.
Lin Wan sat down on a wooden stool. “Yanchen, I feel that Lin Wan from the past has gone to my world. Maybe she went to my world first and then I arrived here.”
“Xixi, where’s your pen? Let’s jot the location and the related people around it.” Lin Wan flipped to a blank page.
She wrote down the names of a lot of people. All of them were related to her and the original owner of the body. However, Li Yanchen and the old Auntie still could not understand what she was saying.
To prove that she was not of unknown origin, the old Auntie also took out her household register. Her home address was the same as she had mentioned before.
This was the first time the old Auntie had heard about the host and another world and what not.
Lin Wan was also puzzled. They had clearly transmigrated here. Why did she and Yang Ruoxi not have the original owners’ memories while Auntie only had her host’s memories and had forgotten her own?
The two of them explained everything at length. It gave Li Yanchen and the old Auntie a headache because they couldn’t make sense of it.
In the end, Li Yanchen said, “Wanwan, do you want to take a break?”
Lin Wan sighed. “Xixi can prove that I’ve changed. Don’t you believe me?”
Li Yanchen was perplexed. He knew that birds of the same feather flock together. For Lin Wan to have such a close friend, they must have a lot in common. He began feeling that perhaps Yang Ruoxi might have split personality too.
After a while, he whispered into Lin Wan’s ear, “Is Yang Ruoxi going to see a psychiatrist?”
Lin Wan lowered her head. She felt like there was no use trying to explain everything to Li Yanchen.
“Wanwan, just give up. No one will believe you.” After drinking two large glasses of water, Yang Ruoxi felt that her vitality had been greatly damaged.
However, the person in front of her lightly asked, “are you going to tell a story?”
Yang Ruoxi knew that she was playing the zither to a cow who wouldn’t understand or appreciate it. But Lin Wan had an idea. She wondered if she should visit the village that the Director’s mother had mentioned and ask around if the old Auntie really lived there.
“I’ll go check the other rooms.” Lin Wan pulled Yang Ruoxi along.
After the two of them left, Auntie Bao furrowed her brows. “Is Xiao Wan’s condition getting serious? Is she still imagining things because she was depressed in the past?”
Li Yanchen was quiet for a moment. “Auntie, have you ever thought that she might not be telling a simple story?” He trusted Lin Wan.
The helper tidied up the cups on the table. “You believe her? Although I’m from the countryside and haven’t had an education, and most of the villagers are superstitious about ghosts and gods, I have never heard about transmigration.”
Li Yanchen nodded. “The vegetables are really growing well this time.” He attempted to change the topic of conversation.
Inside the house, Lin Wan and Yang Ruoxi were sitting on the bench at the entrance of the study. The two of them rested their chins on their hands.
“Xixi, have you ever thought about where your original body might be?”
Yang Ruoxi shook her head. “I already searched her room, but there’s nothing. I’ve heard everything about her from others, and my original body’s social connections are not very many.” Yang Ruoxi had checked all of the host’s belongings the moment she reached her home.
Lin Wan supported herself on the door frame and pulled herself up. “Stay alert. Let’s see if there are any clues here.”
Yang Ruoxi cheered her on listlessly. She understood that Lin Wan wanted to find the parallel tunnel so that she would know if she would have to stay or leave. She wanted to find out the truth and figure out a way to stay here.
