I woke up refreshed and got up on a large bed with a canopy, placed in the center of a large room that could fit ten cleaning ladies’ rooms with room to spare.

It had a black sheet with a pattern drawn with gold thread. In the four corners of the room, there are four large tetrahedral lights and a window from which light comes in, albeit dimly.

The room has fewer ornaments than the room I dined in with Astaroth-sama, but it gives the impression of being more neat and tidy.

I get off the bed, which feels fluffy and mysterious, put on the boots on my feet, and leave the room.

I feel very good.

Better than yesterday.

I feel so good that I want to hum and dance. I could perform my graceful and magnificent dance for hours.

Gilbert-sama seems to have taken care of my physical ailments. I am thankful for that.

At any rate, there seems to be nothing wrong with my body, so I don’t have time to sleep.

I got out through a deep-colored wooden door with a carved pattern and saw a corridor with a window.

I don’t know where I am at the moment, but the cleaning lady’s room is in the basement, so if I find the stairs and go down to the lower level, I will probably get there.

I should have thanked Gilbert properly before leaving the room, but I can’t be late for work on my second day as a cleaning lady.

Lydith, the cleaning lady does not have time to wait for Gilbert-sama.

Besides, Gilbert-sama would be happier if I kept the castle clean rather than lying in bed waiting for his visit.

I wandered around the wide corridor, looking for a staircase.

If the room I just woke up in is Gilbert-sama’s private room, then it must be on the top floor, so if I counted the number of stairs to reach the basement, I should be able to get a rough idea of the castle’s construction.

Checking the occasional open door, I made my way to the basement.

Cronaea-san seemed to be in great shape today, with the residue of a slimy protective coating stuck to the floor here and there.

The stairs connecting the levels were set up in the same place, so I was able to descend down without getting lost.

It was a great accomplishment to discover that there was a library on the second floor and a kitchen on the ground floor.

There was no sign of anyone in either the library or the kitchen, giving the impression that they had not been used for a long time. The castle was as quiet as an ancient ruin built in the depths of the earth.

Astaroth said that it used to be much more lively. It must have taken many years to decline into its current state.

It’s not very good.

I descended the stairs leading from the ground floor and reached the basement.

I was relieved to see that the basement, which I had polished yesterday, remained very clean.

For the time being, I returned to my room and simply tied my hair. My long, shiny silver hair is still beautiful, but it gets in the way when cleaning.

I then decided to rummage through the storage room again.

“…it would be nice if there was a uniform.”

While muttering in a low voice, I look around the warehouse where things are piled up in chaos.

A new mop, which looked unused, was put out in the corridor and laid out. There were a few small bottles, so I put some of the powdered soap-like stuff I used yesterday in small batches and laid that out as well.

Digging through the warehouse, I discover a closet at the back.

Right, it looks like it could be of ample use.

I opened the closet and found dozens of clothes, all in black with white aprons and frills, like those worn by the duchess’s maids. They were in a good, clean condition in the closet.

I held the ones that were my size in my hands and moved them to the wardrobe in my room.

I put my sleeves through it to try it on. The skirt was below the knee and the white apron was made to be replaced if it got dirty.

It’s functional, which is great.

I have plenty of clothes to change and it looks like I won’t have to worry about it for the foreseeable future.

When I checked in the mirror, a beautiful girl was wearing a maid’s uniform.

I would look good in anything, but now I am dressed in an outfit that would distort my brother’s proclivities even more violently.

I’m glad my brother is not here. I could have violated his ethics.

“Come on, let’s get on with the rest of the day.”

I mutter to myself to get myself in the mood.

In the morning, I have to clean the ground floor, and in the afternoon I have to go hunting in the forest.

Now that I know that there will be no food provided, I have to manage on my own.

If I ask Master Astaroth to provide me with food, I might end up being poisoned every time, so I need to make safe and tasty meals with my own hands.

I put a small bottle of soap powder in a cloth shoulder bag I found in the storage room, grabbed a bucket with a handle and a mop, and went up the stairs.

Now I’m the perfect cleaning lady by any standards.

It’s very wonderful.
