“Ok, Rachel, I’ll transform into a cat and follow you.”

“Huh?” I asked. What on earth was Yuki talking about? Some nonsense about turning into a cat. I’d never heard anything as ridiculous as a human turning into a cat.

Yuki laughed and said, “Actually, I really am able to transform into a cat, but I can’t turn you into one, Rachel. No matter what I try, I can only manage to transform myself.”  She announced these things with a cheerful smile, but I couldn’t hide my shock at what she was saying.

“Well, as the saying goes, seeing is believing. So, I’ll just transform and show you!” And with that, Yuki’s outline began to blur. A cloudy, white haze began to shroud Yuki, and soon, she couldn’t be seen at all.

“Y-Yuki!?” I called her name, flustered, but there was no response. The white haze then subsided, but I still couldn’t see Yuki.

“I’m here. Here! Look down, Rachel, please,” she responded, but the response was coming from inside my head. It was a telepathic message from Yuki. Following her directions and looking down, I saw a black cat sitting tranquilly.

“N-no way… Yuki?” I asked, crouched down and locking eyes with the black kitty.

“Yes! Isn’t my transformation impeccable? There’s no way that guy will recognize me like this.” Apparently, Yuki really had somehow disguised herself as a cat.

“Are… Are you really Yuki?”

“I really am! Let me show you!”

After reconfirming her identity, and still halfway in disbelief,  I watched as a white haze shrouded around the black cat, covering it out of sight.  Then, just as it had before, the white haze subsided, and Yuki appeared before my very eyes.[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]

“My god!”

Yuki laughed and said, “Impressive, isn’t it? An undoubtable cat, right? There’s no way that guy would see through this disguise.”

“You’re right. You’re amazing, Yuki.”

I’d never even heard of magically transforming into a cat. And yet, my very eyes had told me a moment ago that there was nothing but a genuine cat before me.

“When I’m a cat, my eyes work well at night.  I’ll go investigate a little.”

“What!? Yuki, it’s dangerous to go alone!  It’s getting dark outside already.”

“It’s fine. I won’t stand out precisely because it’s dark. Besides, a black cat can blend into the shadows of the night.”

She did have a point.  And yet, if His Highness Naaotto really was Naoto, going alone was risky.  Even if Yuki was used to taking the form of a cat, she didn’t know any teleportation magic.

“…I’ll go along with you.”

“Rachel, you can’t become a cat.  You’ll be spotted.”

“Well, how are you planning on getting to His Highness Naaotto, Yuki?”

“That’s obvious.  We’ll just use your teleportation, Rachel! And… I mean, uh… Ha.  Hahaha,” Yuki laughed, “Maybe we should go tomorrow?”

It seems Rachel realized how crucial the teleportation was in all this.

And so,  it was decided that we would make our way to the royal capital of Yakumo at daybreak.[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
