Lord Naaotto’s body wavered, weakened. Apparently, he had lost a little too much blood.

“…God damn it! Yaakummo! Heal my wound, first!!” said Lord Naaotto.

“Yes, sir,” said Lord Yaakummo.

Lord Naaotto didn’t seem so carefree anymore, now that he was prioritizing attending to his own wounds before making me drink his blood. He was depending on Lord Yaakummo to heal him.

…Huh? Lord Yaakummo could… use healing magic?

Was it possible that Lord Yaakummo wasn’t even being controlled by Lord Naaotto at all?

If that were so, were all of Lord Yaakummo’s actions thus far simply to get Lord Naaotto to act rashly? Based on his recent actions, I had already doubted that Lord Yaakummo really was under his control. It seems Lord Naaotto hadn’t noticed, though.

Lord Yaakummo dropped the glass, letting it crash to the floor, and drew closer to Lord Naaotto.

As the glass fell to the floor and broke apart, the blood that Lord Naaotto had poured into it was now spreading across the floor. It was staining an expensive looking red carpet.

“Wha-!! Yaakummo! Why did you drop that glass?!” said Lord Naaotto, demanding an answer as he faltered from blood loss.

Lord Yaakummo was still smiling, despite the situation.

“I wasn’t told what to do with the glass. I was prioritizing applying healing magic to you, Lord Naaotto,” said Lord Yaakummo.

Lord Naaotto’s body was then surrounded by a pale light. It appeared Lord Yaakummo was indeed applying healing magic to Lord Naaotto.

“Hold on!!”  Lord Naaotto jumped at his wound suddenly healing.

His wound was healed, but now the blood that had seeped into the carpet, there was nothing to feed me. He must have realized this as he was being healed. He just needed to cut himself again and pour some more blood into a new glass, but he had already lost a considerable amount of blood and was clearly swaying from it. It was questionable whether he could fill another glass with his blood, at this point.

“God damn it!! I’m returning to my room!! King and Lord Yaakummo, you two keep that woman restrained and take her to the dungeons!!” spat Lord Naaotto, swaying as he left the room.

Lord Yaakummo smiled as he watched him leave. He waved his hand at Lord Naaotto slightly, but Lord Naaotto didn’t notice as he didn’t turn around as he left.[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]

After making sure that Lord Naaotto really had left, Lord Yaakummo turned to look at me. His smile widened.

“Lady Rachel, I’ve made you put up with my charades,” he said.

“Lord Yaakummo… Don’t tell me you’re…” I said.

“Yes. I had also carelessly drunk Lord Naaotto’s blood. For some reason, though, it had no effect on me. In order to deceive Lord Naaotto, however, I pretended as though I was under his control,” he said.

“I see…” said the King.

“I understand,” I said.

Lord Yaakummo had just announced that he was only pretending to be controlled. Apparently, the King himself had not known about this. That was a testament to how widespread Lord Naaotto’s influence was in this palace.

“Oh, my. I didn’t think you hadn’t realized, either, Father. My acting skills are superb, aren’t they?” said Lord Yaakummo, jokingly, and continued, “Well, then, Lady Rachel. Please inform me – It appears that some of the servants of Lord Naaotto who had been watching us were suddenly freed from his powers. It happened as soon as you came, Lady Rachel. What did you do to them?” Lord Yaakummo asked me directly as he sat down in a chair.

“It’s healing magic. I applied healing magic to many people who were being controlled. The reason why you weren’t affected by Lord Naaotto’s blood was probably because you can use healing magic, too,” I said, and Lord Yaakummo’s eyes widened.

“Ah. I see. So, that’s why. It’s so simple, and yet I hadn’t pieced it together. I must be missing a few screws, too,” he said, laughing.

“Lady Rachel – thank you. We might be able to do something now, with your help. Naaotto just revealed something new to us about his blood, too. Thanks to you, many of our authorities and confidants have returned to normal. We now have a chance at ousting Naaotto,” he said.

“Yes, I agree,” said the King, “It was impossible to start making moves without returning those people to normal. If we started to plot against Lord Naaotto without doing that first, Lord Naaotto may have ordered them to harm themselves, and we would have lost many valuable people. I thank you, Lady Rachel.”

“No, you don’t have to thank me… But, what should we do now? We can’t just leave Lord Naaotto to do as he pleases right now…” I said.

“Yes. You’re right. I have an idea,” said Lord Yaakummo.

Apparently, he hadn’t been able to move against Lord Naaotto because his confidants and leaders were being held hostage. I had then entered the scene, and by applying healing magic from one person to the next, I had chipped away at Lord Naaotto’s influence and freed up Lord Yaakummo and the King’s options. At this point, we couldn’t leave Lord Naaotto to his own devices.

That was something all three of us realized, and we decided to pool our efforts together in order to stop Lord Naaotto.

“All right, let’s execute our plan. First off, Lady Rachel will go to the dungeons, as Lord Naaotto ordered. All right?” said Lord Yaakummo.

Once he was done speaking, Lord Yaakummo smiled.[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
