Chapter 80 A Fair Judge (2)
No one could stand their hands continuously soaked in the snow, so the few people quickly finished their work and then let Wen Yantong and Chi Jingxi pick the winner.
Wen Yantong thought since Fu Tanghuan was the heroine and also a girl, no matter what, she should be given first place.
As a result, when she walked in front of Fu Tanghuan’s snow statue, Wen Yantong almost hurt her eyes because of the snow statue’s ugliness.
She blinked her eyes and asked Fu Tanghuan kindly, "Third Young Lady Fu, forgive my poor eyesight. This is a..."
"Duck." Fu Tanghuan pointed out each part of the statue carefully. "This is the head. This is the body, and this is the tail."
Wen Yantong nodded solemnly. "Mhm, as we all know, ducks have tails. Third Young Lady Fu’s statue is vivid and lifelike. Done with perfection."
Mu Yang interrupted, "Wow, I’m surprised by your skill in speaking the opposite of your inner thoughts!"
Fu Tanghuan snorted.
Wen Yantong inwardly retorted: Then let’s see how good your work is.
So she walked to Mu Yang's snow statue and was shocked by his ability to work with his hands.
Even though Mu Yang had no interest in books, his two hands were quite talented. He made a statue of a philosopher with a book in his arms. One could correctly identify what this statue was at first glance.
How could a student who could barely read know what a philosopher looks like?!
Wen Yantong tried her best to suppress her surprise and asked indifferently, "What is this?"
Mu Yang was quite confident in his work. "You can’t see it? It’s a statue of the philosopher Confucius!"
Wen Yantong kept looking at it and suddenly approached the statue of the philosopher. Before Mu Yang could react, she went to the snow statue's face and picked off a bit of snow.
Mu Yang became anxious. "What are you doing?!"
Wen Yantong replied innocently, "Your snow statue's face was dirty. It didn't look good, so I dug it out."
Mu Yang said angrily, "How come I didn't see it? You did this on purpose!"
Wen Yantong shouted, defending her innocence, "Why would I deliberately pick on your snow statue? I’m not even participating in this competition!"
Just as she was talking, a large piece of snow suddenly fell from the snow statue. The philosopher’s face all fell onto the ground, leaving a large pit where the face once was.
"Okay!" Wen Yantong immediately announced authoritatively, "Mu Yang's work is incomplete. As such, he cannot continue to participate in the selection. This work is invalid."
Mu Yang was stunned for a moment. He then got angry and grabbed Wen Yantong's shoulders. "Imma beat you up!"
"Hey! This contestant, please calm down!" Wen Yantong grabbed his hand and struggled. "It is a foul to beat the judges!"
Fu Zixian and Cheng Xin hurriedly stepped forward to hold him back. "Yang Er, calm down. It's because your own snow was not patted firmly enough. How can you blame Wen Yantong?"
"Yeah." Wen Yantong, with a look of righteousness on her face, took a few steps back.
Mu Yang's mouth was crooked from anger. His eyes were slanted up as he held Cheng Xin's wrist and panted, "This rascal is doing it on purpose! You have to pay attention. He must want to give Fu Tanghuan first place."
Cheng Xin laughed so hard that he could hardly breathe. "Go and rest for a while. His words do not bear all the weight. Your Brother Xi is still standing beside you."
Only then did Mu Yang remember that Chi Jingxi was also a judge. He walked up to Chi Jingxi and said aggrievedly, "Brother Xi, you have to take good care of this rascal. His hands are too evil. In just a single moment, he scratched the whole face of my philosopher's statue off."
Chi Jingxi patted his shoulder with a smile on his beautiful face.
Wen Yantong turned to Fu Zixian’s statue. As soon as she had a clear look at it, she could see that Fu Zixian’s craftsmanship was in the same line as his sister Fu Tanghuan.
She pointed to the snow statue and asked, "What is this ugly thing?"
Fu Zixian replied, "It's a goose."
Wen Yantong said bluntly, "The eyes are not eyes, and the nose is not a nose. Do you have the nerve to fight for first place with this?"
Fu Zixian shook his head embarrassedly.
Wen Yantong nodded with satisfaction and then went to Zhang Jieran's snow statue. She found that what he made was a snowman, a very simple one.
But the two balls were made very beautifully; it would be the most exquisitely made among the contestants.
Wen Yantong glanced at Zhang Jieran, and seeing his eyes full of hope, she couldn't help but whisper:
Sorry, Bro!
She pretended to be disgusted and said, "What you did was too simple! No-can-do!"
Zhang Jieran didn't mind it either. He smiled and said, "I can only make this."
Wen Yantong said, "Then do you think you can take first place with this?"
Zhang Jieran replied honestly, "I don’t think so."
Wen Yantong thought of the two remaining people; their works could neither be picked nor stepped on, so she directly said, "I personally want to nominate the Third Young Lady Fu’s statue as the winner of this competition!"
Cheng Xin laughed hysterically. "There are two more you didn’t seem to have looked at?"
Cheng Xiao also added, "Although Huan'er meimei’s[1] work is really good-looking, you should check all of ours to be sure."
Wen Yantong nodded after hearing this. "Indeed so."
As she spoke, Wen Yantong walked toward Cheng Xiao's snow statue. When she was about to get there, Wen Yantong suddenly slipped and fell into the snow!
Even Zhang Jieran, who was closest to her, couldn’t even catch her on time.
