Chapter 75
Ji Han walks with many Demon Sect members following onto the trail shortly behind. Ji Han speaks in a low voice with Wei Qi, "Are they coming?"
Wei Qi says, "Yes."
Beside him, Hua Hufa glances back behind them a little, telling Ji Han, "They took the bait."
Ji Han doesn't say anything more, but continues going forward according to the plans.
He knows Yan Buhuo has now probably caught up to follow along behind, he only needs to walk forward one path, waiting until he hears the signal to turn back around, with Yan Buhuo also waiting with people to attack from the front and rear.
They travel another moment, finally hearing the signal of the whistling arrow behind them. The members of the Demon Sect received orders previously, and hearing that sound, draw out their weapons, taking advantage of when many of the Haoran Alliance are still startled and distracted, rushing up together.
Mengzhu immediately understands they're in the middle of an ambush, wanting only to temporarily withdraw. Turning around just then, however, he hears the loud shout of people behind him, "We've been caught!"* At this point, he's somewhat panicked, doing his best to ensure most people break out. Several flaming arrows come shooting through the air, falling into the heaps of weeds around them, catching them in the rising flames.
Already, Baicang Mountain hasn't had rain in over a month, the weeds on the ground dried and withered. In the blink of an eye, the fire's intensity rises quickly and violently.
They have no choice but to retreat back.
But those fire arrows still haven't ceased, almost building up a wall of fire on the path, Ji Han also cutting off their way out.
There are several Demon Sect disciples rushing too far forward, injured by the shooting of the flaming arrows, collapsing onto the ground and fully touching the bits of grass, burning up into flaming people in an instant, but that rain of arrows still hasn't stopped coming. Hua Hufa turns pale with fright, using her internal energy to shout towards the distant archer, "Stop! We're your own people!"
Her voice just falls, she's narrowly hit by an arrow. Wei Qi takes her place, blocking her in the chaos of the arrows, drags her to retreat behind Ji Han.
In merely an instant, they have already injured seven or eight people. The Haoran Alliance is still somewhat more worse off than them. The rain of arrows on that side subsides slightly, with only enough time to withdraw from the fire's intense border, quite quickly the flaming arrows come pressing down once again.
Hua Hufa is still shocked and puzzled, she grabs Ji Han's sleeve, stunned as she says, "Jiaozhu, what are they..."
However, Ji Han's expression is flat, "Leave here first."
They're also unable to deal with the side of the Haoran Alliance members. Withdrawing from this place, upwards to the precipice. If they're up at the precipice, then they're just truly without a way to escape once more. Ji Han's mind still remembers those maps, this area has several places with deep caves hidden away, they can temporarily flee to them.
Those in the sect who haven't received injury assist the injured in escaping together into the cave. Wei Qi lights a torch, however when they take stock of how many people they still have, , they realize they're down by a few.
Luckily they brought medicine with them, immediately treating the wounds of the injured. Their states of mind are all somewhat at a loss, really not knowing why sect members would suddenly want to attack them.
Hua Hufa is also lightly injured, frowning as she murmurs, "They really didn't recognize us?"
Silence all around, no one replies to her.
Hua Hufa is even more doubtful and confused, "From the beginning they never said they would use fire in the attack, where was the mistake in the end."
It's silent another minute, Ji Han just slowly opens his mouth.
"Hua Hufa, you really still don't understand." He plays it down as he says, "We're already discards."

包了饺子
/bāole jiǎozi - Wrapped (in a) dumpling. (I felt translating this directly sounded a bit too odd, but if someone can think of a good way to phrase it, let me know.)
