Soon we arrived at the magic tower.

As the name suggests, the magic tower was a tall tower-shaped building.

I knew that in this empire, buildings larger than a certain size were built using magic, but the magic tower was particularly magnificent and beautiful.

“Wow…….”

The exterior was familiar because I had seen it several times when I came to meet Jake, but it was my first time to see the inside, so everything felt strange.

In the middle of the open space all the way to the top floor, the square and the labs connected in a circle around it were spectacular.

Wizards, some students learning magic, and assistants were seen busily passing by.

I looked around the area and asked Jake.

“So, where should we go?”

“Well, of course my lab.”

After completing his studies at the Magic Tower, Jake who graduated from the Academy has his own private lab as a full-time wizard.

I rode the magic moving train and headed to the lab with Jake.

“Wow!”

From the outside, I thought that the size of the lab allotted to each wizard would be small, but when I came in, it was spacious enough.

The image of the laboratory I had envisioned was a messy arrangement of materials on a desk and a strangely colored magic burner, but the reality was completely different.

‘As expected of Jake.’

The room was all white and black, so it felt like no one was living there.

As if to show Jake’s neat personality, not only the materials on the bookshelf were neatly arranged, but also the writing on the labels was neat.

But not the entire lab was like that.

I looked at the paintings and photos hanging on one of the walls above the desk.

“This…….”

Just before graduating from kindergarten, we called in a painter and had a picture of us huddled together.

One of those paintings was hung here.

And right next to it, there was a portrait of Jake and I holding hands when we were young.

By the time we graduated from the academy, a technology was developed that could print the image taken on the video sphere as a real thing, which was also called a photograph here.

Because of that, what remained of me and Jake during the academy was not a painting, but a photograph.

“What is this, Jay? I couldn’t see the pictures of you and I in your room, so I thought you were just keeping them, but it turned out that they were hanging in your lab?”

Jake answered my playful question with a bit of embarrassment.

“…… okay. Yes, these days, it seems like I’m using the private lab I set up next to my room at the Duke’s residence more often, but I’ve spent a lot of time here too. I wanted to hang it where I could see it often. It gives me strength every time I see it.”

Jake smiled slightly.

“Aha, I see. No wonder. I hung it on my bedroom wall so I can see it often. Now, when I open the store, I want to put some there too.”

After a while, I sat down on the couch and chatted with Jake while looking around the lab.

Meanwhile, there was a rumbling sound from my stomach.

I blushed slightly.

“…… I didn’t eat breakfast.”

It was partly because I woke up a little late today, and I missed breakfast because I was going out with Jake right away.

Basically, I’m not the type of person who misses mealtime.

Of course, we stopped by the dessert shop, but desserts are not a substitute for a meal.

Jake looked at me like I was cute and smiled broadly.

“Then let’s go eat together. There is a dining hall in the tower.”

“Really? Let’s go!”

I got up and grabbed Jake’s hand with a bright face.

* * *

After a while, when we arrived at the dining hall, I looked around in wonder again.

The dining hall of the magic tower is located on the top floor.

That said, the view is amazing, as if looking down from a high mountain.

‘Are there clouds floating around?’

Besides, even though it was lunch time, there were only a few guests.

It was almost like Jake and I were eating alone.

It turns out that most wizards don’t come to the dining hall, but use a summoning circle to deliver meals to their personal lab.

‘Well, since most of the wizards were said to like to act personally.’

Suddenly, I got worried.

‘Sometimes they say that wizards who focus only on research, skip meals several times and only work, maybe Jake does the same?’

I asked, and fortunately, Jake said he would never do that.

“Because I never do anything that would make you worry.”

Oh, was it because of me?

Once again, I realized that Jake had loved me a lot.

After eating, I decided to take a walk with Jake on the terrace outside the dining hall.

After all, we were the only ones here, so the cold air greeted us.
