Chapter 47: Chapter 47: No Time to Rest

Kain wasn't completely out of danger yet.

He immediately re-released Bea into the water to scout in front of him and also to deal with any potential threats.

Now he needed to leave this network of tunnels before his limited oxygen ran out.

Due to the lack of light, he swam where prompted based on what Bea's splits conveyed to him of the surrounding environment.

Just when he was about to lose the last of his oxygen, he sensed an opening and spent the last of his energy moving through it and then to the light he saw at the surface of the water

"Ha…Ha… Aaaaahhhhh!" The deep breaths of air he took were immediately released in a loud scream as he revelled in surviving such a severe near-death experience. Sёarch* The nôvelFire.net website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Just about the last of his energy spent, he decided to float on his back and slowly backstroked towards shore.

By the time he reached shore, he had regained enough energy to run back to the city. He couldn't possibly stay out here with an orange-grade spiritual beast on the lookout for him.

He also should probably warn others leaving the city that the information regarding the spider mother was no longer accurate and it was wandering outside of its territory.

Looking for him, but they didn't need to know that.

Once in the city he went towards the information broker that he had originally bought the danger marked map from and informed him of the spider he ran into as well as its last known location.

"Thank you for the information…it's strange that the White Widow would suddenly be outside of its territory when it's never left in nearly a decade. I will send a 3-star mercenary to go check it out"

"Yeah super weird…" Kain said, "I wonder why it left? Anyways I gotta go"

He quickly rushed away with a sigh of relief that more questions weren't asked and he no longer had to have the potential death of an unprepared mercenary on his conscience.

Now he could do his favourite part of going into the wilderness—coming back and making money!

The 10 days he had spent in the wild had been immensely beneficial.

Not only getting to upgrade the system, but also stuffing the space ring to the brim with materials, including a rare Venom Spinner poison sac.

After bargaining for nearly an hour over every piece of material, Kain managed to obtain nearly 500,000 CD—493k CD, to be exact.

Nearly half of which was completely due to the poison sac.

Although he had nearly died for it, he had no regrets while staring at the new balance on his ID card.

'Those that say money can't buy happiness, clearly did not have enough of it' He thought, while crying tears of joy.

'What should I do with my remaining 2 days with the ring?'

The contract already said that there'd be no refunds if returned early. But knowing that an orange-grade spider was hunting for him specifically, he did not dare to step into the wilderness again so soon.

At least not until he received news of it being hunted by one of the stronger members of the city.

Unfortunately, as a small city, the strongest individuals in the Brightstar City may only have a contract at the orange-grade, making it quite risky to hunt the incredibly poisonous White Widow Spider. Even if a group of 3-star level beast-tamers got together and defeated it, they would likely suffer devastating losses.

However, even if the recent progress of Kain and Bea was slow, Kain really couldn't afford to waste even a day not training if he wanted both him and Bea to have red-grade spiritual power by the time of the Dark Moon exam.

After the chase with the White Widow, there were still 16 hours left until the system upgrade was finished. Maybe he'd have a solution to some of his problems by tomorrow.
