The next second, before he can start screaming, Jiang Yiyi has already covered up his mouth.
Having taken the previous lesson to heart, Jiang Yiyi has covered up Tiger’s mouth with one hand, while slicing through the flesh smoothly – even possibly artistically – with the thin blade between his fingers on the other hand. It moves along the dissection diagram he can see, to split and to analyse.
“Boss…” The crowd nearby is restless, and the two NPCs closest to them look like they’d rush over the next second——When Jiang Yiyi shows them clearly, the large artery in the flesh cut open, right next to the blade in his stable hands. He glances at the crowd that dies down in no time.
“Please… Let’s talk about this.” Tiger manages to mumble something out.
Jiang Yiyi looks at him.
“I won’t, won’t yell.” Tiger tries to smile to show his harmlessness to Jiang Yiyi.
Jiang Yiyi retracts the hand from his mouth, then stares at the artery——Veins are usually too small to observe by blood, and most would only bleed a dribble even when punctured. Yet, when the vein is as thick as they’re seeing right now, if the location moves ever so slightly——Touching on the legendary aorta, a puncture would result in massive haemorrhaging that is beyond the help of any medical attention.
Which is why it’s marked as a Vulnerability.
Tiger not only dares not move at all, but if he was able to, he’d immediately travel back a few seconds in time to shut his bullshitting mouth up.
He does not know if he can win against Jiang Yiyi in a fight, or rather, if everyone present can subdue Jiang Yiyi——But he knows, if Jiang Yiyi is agitated, deaths will occur here.
As for how many? That depends on how agitated he is.
Jiang Yiyi, with blade in hand, continues to smoothly and peacefully dissect skin. It’s difficult to describe what the spectators feel seeing veins being isolated like this.
If they are pressed, they might describe it as something joyful for the perpetrator. He is even relishing the rush of blood and death.
Clearly, this is an extremely dangerous individual who ought to belong to the sixth floor.
Blood is emerging alarmingly quickly from Tiger’s arm, dripping past his arm to form a puddle on the ground.
Tiger does not feel much pain, however——Proving the skilfulness of his surgeon.
Yes, with death looming overhead, Tiger recalls this newcomer’s information in a trance——He’s a Surgeon.
Tiger gulps slightly, then looks back at Jiang Yiyi, currently engrossed observing the veins.
“Bro…” His voice is, understandably, trembling.
“Hush.” Jiang Yiyi puts his index finger on his lips. An index finger tainted by a few drops of blood, which also paints itself on the lips. The poppy reveals its vibrant colour, alluring and deadly. People cannot help but pay attention.
With frightful gazes, of course. No one is capable of developing sinful feelings in this situation.
The only thing in their minds, is to stay far. Far, far away from him.
Jiang Yiyi stares back at the vein, before the index finger on Tiger’s upper arm moves once more. The blade dances smoothly along the depicted paths. An ensemble of the silver blade and scarlet blood. An artistic performance spearheaded by Jiang Yiyi’s deft movements.
Tiger’s arm is trembling.
Jiang Yiyi calmly looks at him in displeasure.
Tiger quickly uses his other hand to hold his own arm in place, trying to suppress the trembling.
There is a deathly silence about the scene, as everyone watches Jiang Yiyi use the thin blade to completely open up half of Tiger’s arm.
The smell of iron is intensifying.
Jiang Yiyi’s movements are highly calculated——Or rather, the System’s skill is performing highly calculated actions. Most of the arm has been sliced open, revealing the patterns of the innards and veins, but all aortas are intact.
With such limited tools and in such an underequipped location, this proves the excellence of Jiang Yiyi as a surgeon without a doubt.
“What’s happening here? Where are the prisoners?”
Jiang Yiyi pauses, as he hears the prison officers outside.
He didn’t remember to keep the time.
Jiang Yiyi mumbles, then with a twitch of his finger, the blade becomes a needle instead.
This time, everyone is bearing witness to the orderly fashion with which the man sews the open flesh back up.
“Eurgh——” As the first person pukes, the remaining quickly crumple into puking messes themselves.
Jiang Yiyi’s hands are quick and movements slick. Not to mention that he knows exactly how he sliced up the flesh. Before the prison officers have arrived to check, he’s already done with the underequipped operation.
He lets go of Tiger’s arm and takes a step back to check out his brand new Elite level Surgery skill. His hypothesis is confirmed——Whatever the reason, his skills level up with uncanny ease. While Simple and Entry aren’t that much different, but the experience required between Average and Elite was enough to drop any player who wished to try a breakthrough through skills into a hopeless abyss.
For Jiang Yiyi, however, a simple dissection and operation is enough for him to acquire Elite Surgery.
Good. He’ll try it on another person next time.
Jiang Yiyi then listens to the prison officers outside, and gives Tiger a friendly smile, “when the officers…”
“I did this myself.” Tiger says with a forced smile, as his patched up left arm still continues to twitch slightly, as if in pain, or in fear.
Jiang Yiyi questions with impeccable logic, “you? You operated on your upper arm with your other hand?” He jokes, trying to relieve the tension, “that’d make you a far more amazing surgeon than me.”
“No-not at all.” Tiger hurriedly says, frozen.
Jiang Yiyi then looks at the pile of planks in the corner, and is going to say something when the sound of the prison officers has him walking outside instead.
“If my sentence is lengthened, I’ll be quite troubled.”
He slips out of the shed, and blends into the crowd while the prison officers are searching elsewhere.
There is a gaze on him. Jiang Yiyi looks, and he locks eyes with the unfamiliar prison officer from before.
This NPC… looks like there’s more to him.
As he is pretty handsome.
In a game, a handsome character design = not a background extra = an NPC with a story attached = an NPC with some strength to him.
“Who’s that officer?”
“That’s the new prison officer.” Four-Eyes answers after looking, then looks towards the quiet little shed, “he called Officer Yan away, and he’s the one rumoured to be related to Tiger’s superiors.”
“Is that so?” Jiang Yiyi resumes his study of the block of wood on the table.
“Aniki, Tiger, they…” Four-Eyes can’t stop himself asking when the prison officers begin to head for the shed.
“They?” Jiang Yiyi blinks, puzzled, “what about them?”
“Didn’t they…” Four-Eyes makes a gesture.
“Didn’t they what?” Jiang Yiyi turns to look at him.
Four-Eyes gulps, and is about to elaborate, when Yan Kuan suddenly yells from inside the shed, “what are you doing?! Did you fight in here? That arm?”
The prison officers move out as they escort Tiger and his lackeys out of the shed.
Four-Eyes looks through the crowd.
Tiger is bloodied, and an arm of his hangs limply by his side. It looks like it’s fractured, and his head is hanging low, his gaze focused on nowhere in particular.
“Planks? You beat him up with planks?” Yan Kuan loudly interrogates, “say that again. All of you? Smashed him, with planks?”
Yan Kuan looks at the prisoners huddled to the side, “Lin Yi, take the prisoners back to their cells.”
The new prison officer acknowledges and takes the prisoners in the workshop away.
Four-Eyes walks back towards his cell alongside the other prisoners of the same area. He can’t help but keep looking back.
A few of Tiger’s lackeys he recognise are holding thick planks in their hands, answering Yan Kuan’s angry interrogation with only silence. One side of their planks are drenched in blood, dripping slowly, blossoming in terrifying fashion as they drop onto the ground.
Four-Eyes does not dare look anymore; instead, his eyes subconsciously move over to Jiang Yiyi by his side.
The man is moving calmly with the crowd. When he notices the gaze, he smiles at him.
