“I Do Not Kill”
Lunatic is lying on the bed, staring blankly at the door, until Jiang Yiyi enters. His glassy eyes turn a little, looking less inhuman.
Jiang Yiyi shuts the door after him, and walks to the bed, overlooking Lunatic.
Lunatic’s eyes are fixed on him as usual. Silent, obedient.
“Do you have a grudge with him?”
Lunatic stares at him in silence.
“In other words, do you want…” Jiang Yiyi is smiling a little, “him dead?”
Lunatic’s gaze shifts slightly.
“It seems you do.” Jiang Yiyi sits back onto the chair and grabs a towel from the medical supplies. He wipes his blade slowly, and continues to chat, “it appears to me, that is exactly what that man wants to see you put into action.”
The blade reflects the light a little. It is familiar and reassuring.
Jiang Yiyi repeats his motions once more in silence.
“I am not in the best of moods right now.”
Jiang Yiyi looks at Lunatic, as he stares back at him without a word.
“It has been a long time since someone felt like such an eyesore.” Jiang Yiyi puts the towel back down. His fingers twitch, and the blade disappears somewhere from his hand, “I have no enemies.”
“Think of this as a daily act of kindness on my part.”
Jiang Yiyi ends the conversation unilaterally. He stands, ready to leave.
“K-kill…” Lunatic spouts, stuttering once more.
Jiang Yiyi shakes his head, smiling, “I am a good person.” His smile is rather brilliant, “I do not kill.”
Jiang Yiyi and his friend has no way of knowing how the superiors are playing their Great Game, but they do know about Butcher pushing for Jiang Yiyi to be transferred.
Lin Yi is following Jiang Yiyi, reporting, “Lunatic will probably be able to stay.”
Jiang Yiyi stops, “that’s quite a lot of chatter from you.”
“And for whom do you think I am talking, huh?” Lin Yi rolls his eyes, then changes the topic, “Butcher’s application is out. The evaluation will happen in a few days… In other words, you won’t be on this floor much longer. Are you not planning to take care of it?”
“Take care of it?” Jiang Yiyi repeats.
“Lone Wolf.” Lin Yi motions towards Lone Wolf.
“I feel like you are misunderstanding me.” Jiang Yiyi also looks towards Lone Wolf following Lin Yi’s gaze.
The jogging Lone Wolf suddenly looks up, and latches precisely onto his stare, then gives Jiang Yiyi a provocative smile.
“He really is fearless.” Lin Yi appears melancholic, “how do you plan on killing him?”
Jiang Yiyi turns to observe Lin Yi, “you sound intrigued.”
“Rather, I’m curious what you are planning to do.” Lin Yi lowers his voice, “Doctor, if I remember correctly, you have not actually killed anyone in Stargaol yet, right?”
Jiang Yiyi looks at him.
“Only a death orchestrated by Doctor’s own hands will reveal to me what sort of sociopath you are.”
Lin Yi’s prying eyes go deep. He looks at Jiang Yiyi like looking at a conundrum, “the Doctor has so many conflicting aspects to his personality. I am unable to construct the real Doctor in my mind.”
“Doctor, your true self is buried deep, deep beneath the surface. Perhaps, sometimes, you ought to reveal those hidden secrets to the followers who have eyes peeled for you?”
Jiang Yiyi is speechless for a couple of seconds, Lin Yi doesn’t seem that normal either…
Lin Yi, though, clearly lacks the self-awareness. He has read Jiang Yiyi’s file countless times, and analysed everything Jiang Yiyi has done since incarceration, in order to build a criminal profile of him, but every single time, he runs into——Contradictions! Contradictions! Contradictions!
He even ends up with a conclusion of Jiang Yiyi being a good person once——This only further proves that Jiang Yiyi’s façade is impeccable.
The impeccable Jiang Yiyi is pondering right now, what is the possibility that Lin Yi himself is perverse in personality.
What an odd thing he’s saying with a straight face. He truly did fool him over into thinking that he’s a good cop.
Jiang Yiyi adds a label of ‘Weirdo’ to Lin Yi with a flick of his hand, before looking back at Lone Wolf jogging.
“I do not kill people.” Jiang Yiyi repeats himself to Lin Yi.
Lin Yi raises his brow, but does not push the issue further, “so how will the Doctor take care of him?”
Jiang Yiyi puts his hands together in a prayer position, putting his chin on it to think for a few seconds, before mumbling, “I suppose it will be quite spectacular.”
Although Lin Yi knows he shouldn’t be, but Jiang Yiyi’s words have got him hyped——Like when one is anticipating to bear witness to a master class of a performance, and they are the fortunate ones to be able to watch.
“Speaking of which, have you seen a doctor?” Jiang Yiyi stops paying attention to Lone Wolf soon enough, for he is no one else but an Enemy to him since he assigned that label.
“A doctor?” Lin Yi, surprised at the shocking turn of topic, freezes for a couple of seconds.
“Your mental state is skewed. I recommend seeing a psychologist in particular.” Jiang Yiyi glances at him, “although you are more than welcome to seek psychological consultation with me, I am quite sure you are averse to becoming a patient of mine.”
“Me?” Lin Yi points to himself, “skewed mental state?” He retorts almost subconsciously, “I feel fine though.”
Jiang Yiyi stares at him with an inscrutable expression, “merely a friendly advice, that you do not have to follow if you don’t want to.”
Lin Yi has an odd look for a few seconds. After another awkward pause, he forces a reply out, “I’ll think about it.”
“Don’t be afraid of going to the doctor. You should know, that some illnesses…” Jiang Yiyi pats him on the shoulder, “are beyond treatment when too much time has passed.”
A normal conversation it should have been, but Lin Yi finds sweat gathering on his palm. Perspiration aside, he also feels a sharp tingling sensation warning him of danger – of something he has overlooked.
Jiang Yiyi retracts his hand, then looks over at the jogging Lone Wolf once more.
Lone Wolf notices him immediately, and fiendishly smiles once more.
Quite the energetic fella.
Jiang Yiyi thinks, as he looks away once more.
