“Lion? Should we chase them away?” Xin Yongyuan wonders, glancing at the restless crowds outside.
“Have them stay put.” Lion looks into the distance, “I’m looking forward to seeing how Black Glove is going to deal with the fallout of this joke.”
“Yesterday… Black Glove met with Bunny again.”
“Bunny is not one of ours anymore. Any troubles should be pointed at his new boss instead.” Says Lion.
“Fatty, stop this,” the prison officer raises his voice.
Fatty raises a hand, finally bringing a break to the brawl.
“What were you all doing? Gang violence?” The officer waves and other prison officers rush in to drag the prisoners unable to stand outside, away from Fatty’s people.
“As you can see, they were the ones who provoked us.” Fatty is patting away dust on his clothes, “if your doorway was blocked for no reason, makes sense they’d be a little miffed.”
The prison officers have finished checking the wounds of the prisoners, and someone whispers into the ear of the prison officer in command.
“And you’re done with your tantrum?” He nods, asking Fatty.
“Ye Wang sure is protective over Black Glove… Did Nianluo pay him a lot?” Fatty’s cheerful tone then suddenly shifts a little more aggressive, “regardless, gifts must be mutual, and I expect you not to interfere if we would like to go see… would you?”
The prison officer in charge says something into his radio, before replying to Fatty.
“You sure you want to go see?”
“We’ll be going if you have nothing else to say.”
“Ye Wang said, feel free.” The prison officers make way.
Fatty walks, followed by his men, who are in turn stopped by the officers.
“Though not the others.”
Fatty stops, and turns to look at him.
“It’d be quite a shame to waste away lives, wouldn’t you say?”
Fatty smiles, and turns to leave.
“Boss…” Those that are stopped look at each other, somewhat nonplussed, after which some walk around the prison officers——This time, they are not obstructed any further.
“Fatty?” Black Glove is a little surprised at the visitor.
Looking around, there are only a few of Fatty’s close lackeys around. He’s genuinely surprised now, “I wouldn’t expect you to come alone with how careful you have always been.”
Lin Yi points out some information he has, “the power behind him has been toppled over.”
Black Glove, shocked this time, turns his head to ask, “that centuries-old Grove? Toppled?”
“They messed with powers they shouldn’t have, and didn’t destroy the evidence in time…” Lin Yi notes Fatty’s changes in demeanour, and realises something, “you’re more loyal than I thought.”
“I just came to ask one thing.” Fatty is glaring at Lin Yi, “did you send your men to Doctor?”
Black Glove raises a brow, and turns to ask Lin Yi, “Doctor had a hand in Grove’s business?”
Lin Yi shakes his head, “no, but it was not unrelated to him.”
Ye Wang suddenly interjects, “you’re talking about Lunatic, right?”
He then turns to Fatty, “the Grove made a foolish decision, and even if you want to take revenge, you should be going after Lunatic instead.”
Fatty ignores him, merely repeating his question, “did you send your men to Doctor?”
Black Glove shakes his head, “Doctor has nothing to do with this. Why would we send people to him?”
“How do you know he has nothing to do with this?” Fatty narrows his eyes, “what made you sure of it?”
Jian Si.
Jian Si’s target here is the Doctor; Jian Si is on his side, so that means Doctor cannot have been here for him, Black Glove——Otherwise, rather than having to send his men to Doctor now, he would have approached him via the connection already.
While it sounds complicated, the logic is good. Black Glove, having made the conclusion, is certain of it.
He cannot say that out loud, though.
Black Glove merely answers, “objectively, he has never met any of us.”
“I didn’t know Nianluo even knew the word ‘objectively.’” Fatty sarcastically says, then throws out a bait, “he was the one who killed Old Coyote.”
The surroundings fall silent.
Black Glove sighs, “are you actually trying to implicate someone else with this laughably crude accusation?”
“Who cares if it’s crude if it works?” Fatty is quite open with his intention to drag Doctor in, “don’t tell me you actually think there is no need to ask the Doctor about this.”
Lin Yi casts his gaze downwards, keeping any emotions hidden away.
Black Glove thinks for a few seconds, turns to Lin Yi, then seems to think of something and instead points his finger somewhere else abruptly, “you, go lead some men and go ask Doctor.”
He then asks Fatty, “are you going too?”
“It’s fine. I can wait for him here.”
Ye Wang is smiling as he makes a small nod to the side. Some prison officers emerge to block the prisoners from going to Doctor.
“Fatty, why do you never listen to me, huh?” Ye Wang stops next to Fatty, and pats him on the face, “you really think I’m a pushover just because I’m friendly to you all?”
Fatty swallows, then takes a step back.
“I’ve warned you.” Ye Wang takes another step, this time grabbing Fatty by the shoulder, “do not attempt to make contact with the Doctor.”
“Now look at you, going against what I said right in front of my face.” Ye Wang sighs, “are you really looking down on me that much?”
Fatty looks like he wants to take another step back, but the hand on his shoulder stops his actions.
He speaks up, “Ye Wang, I just…”
“No need to explain. I’m not interested.” Ye Wang smiles.
There is a flash through the air. Followed by blood.
The prisoners standing around gasp. They all take a few steps back in reflex, staying away from Ye Wang.
Ye Wang lets go, and Fatty slumps to the ground, holding his stomach in disbelief, “you…”
“Be less dramatic next time.” Ye Wang complains to the prison officer standing next to him, pointing to the blood splatter on his uniform.
The officer in question makes a gesture to push his non-existent cap down, while dramatically replying, “yes, sir!”
Black Glove himself is surprised at how brazen this prison officer is. Then, noticing Fatty still wailing holding his stomach, concludes——Ye Wang doesn’t want him dead just yet.
Ye Wang crouches, and pats Fatty on the face with the back of his hand this time, “the Grove is gone. You don’t actually think you are still valuable at all anymore, do you?”
“Your name is no longer on the list of people to keep alive,” he threatens with a menacing tone, “if you want to stay alive, then do your best to follow orders. If I see you breaking my rules again…”
Ye Wang stands up, overlooking Fatty, who can only emit broken whimpers now.
“There will be no holding back for the next strike.”
