CH 36.3

Lin Yi’s vision blurs as he is transported to the side and avoiding the mass of air——By a person with hands completely steady and not even changing Lin Yi’s posture at all, or allowing his snapped ribs to move.

In other words, practically, he was moved purely horizontally.

Lin Yi can’t help but gasp at how immensely strong the person must be to be able to do this so effortlessly.

No wonder they did not notice him at all. He must be much more agile than both of them.

That said… did he even know any such masters of physique?

Lin Yi, currently lying elsewhere, is thinking, bored.

Of course, the situation is far from tedium. In fact, it is quite heated.

As soon as Lin Yi was settled elsewhere, the interloper rushed for the person in black. Now, the person is not going to be a sitting duck either, activating the aerotator repeatedly while retrieving a bladed weapon from behind, ready to dispatch any who approaches.

The man easily avoids the air ‘pellets,’ closing the distance in almost no time.

The person in black immediately swings for a weak spot.

However, with elegant steps, the man turns his body slightly while twisting it a little at the same time. His fingers are gripping on a knife, which flashes when it is swung. There is a fountain of blood.

‘Ding’ is the sound the bladed weapon makes when falling to the ground.

The person in black has his hands on his neck, shocked watching the man passing him by.

The man makes a gesture to push his non-existent cap down.

“You’re… Starga…” With blood spewing and airways severed, the person in black does not even get to finish his sentence.

A red puddle quickly spreads out.

Lin Yi is also a little surprised at the identity of the person intervening.

“It’s you?”

He tilts his head, also seemingly a little mystified, “disappointed that I’m not Doctor?”

Lin Yi’s brows furrow slightly, “why would you mention Doctor?”

He walks back to Lin Yi, crouches, staring at him.

“Why else would I be here?”

Lin Yi takes a couple of seconds to process, “did Doctor send you to…”

“Nuh-uh-uh.” The man swings his index finger left and right in front of Lin Yi, “I don’t work for him.”

“Then what did you mean?”

“Seems like you actually have no idea either.” He says, sounding disappointed, “I’m also curious what relationship you have with Doctor.”

“Which was why I decided to wait and see what you two would talk about.” He sighs, sounding even slightly regretful, “I was not expecting it to be such a massive waste of time.”

“If you don’t work for him, why would Doctor want you saved?”

Lin Yi reminds him, “I have the exact same question. Why did you come save me? What does Doctor have to do with any of this?”

“Well, obviously it’s because silly little Ye Wang has made a deal with Doctor.” With a smile, he explains, “the Doctor has kept his promise, so naturally will we keep ours.”

Lin Yi is quickly going through his memories, stumbling through scene after scene, until finally, he recalls the first day they arrived on the fourth floor, that conversation between Ye Wang, Jiang Yiyi and no one else.

“So Doctor’s condition for accepting Ye Wang’s offer was…” Lin Yi asks, completely baffled, “me?”

“More precisely, to ensure your survival.” He scrutinises Lin Yi’s reaction, “you seem even more surprised than we are.”

Well duh, that Doctor would make such a deal has once again conflicted with his actions thus far, completely upending his personality analysis of Doctor. What else would he be but astonished?

Anyway, this isn’t the first time this has happened, so he easily reins his emotions back in, in a matter of minutes.

It is the Doctor after all, the person whose every peculiarity can be explained away with his nickname only.

Meanwhile, Lin Yi also digs up a particular word of advice Doctor offered him.

【“When you come to face Hell, come look for me.”】

This is… Lin Yi closes his eyes. He has no actual agency to choose, does he?

He said to ‘go look for him,’ but he did not actually offer the alternative of ‘not looking for him.’ Not after he has made his move in the game, and watches as everything plays out exactly as he wanted.

Although Lin Yi is still not sure what kind of endgame Jiang Yiyi is expecting here, he does not think this is over just yet.

The Doctor has already made his move. Now, the initiative to this entire debacle will fall to his hand, one way or another.

This is a conclusion shared by Ye Wang and the rest of them.

“What I am truly curious about, in any case,” the prison officer crouching in front of him ponders, “is what Doctor will do, if I did not save you.”

“If you are curious, then why not try?” Lin Yi asks in turn.

The man sighs with dramatic tone, “we had a long discussion about this, until we concluded.”

Lin Yi raises his brow.

He pulls Lin Yi up and starts heading off in the direction where Lin Yi came from.

“Angering the Doctor will only make matters worse.”

Lin Yi is in full agreement, “a wise choice.”

“Now, then, let us see what it is that Doctor wanted to achieve.”

【Jiang Yiyi looks at the folder once more, “I have a condition.”

Ye Wang has finally pushed the conversation to the next step. Relieved, he says, “which is?”

Lin Yi is standing behind the prison officers, with his back to Jiang Yiyi and Ye Wang. He is bored, and so he is thinking.

Then, he notices two distinct gazes from his back.

He shakes his head. There can only be two who would decide to just look at him from behind——Did they mention him in their conversation?

“Are you sure?” Ye Wang can’t help but ask once more.

Jiang Yiyi can see shock and surprise, slowly devolving into an inquisitive expression one might more commonly associate with someone suspecting they are dreaming. Quite an interesting display.

“As I’ve said, I am a good person.”】

Although I didn’t write about their deal directly, but it was already implied that Jiang Yiyi’s condition had something to do with Lin Yi.

As for the reason… It is because 【“If you did just up and died like that, it’d be a real shame.”】 ——Refer to Chapter 21 if you need a refresher.

Next chapter, Doctor will finally come back onto the main stage——As this fourth floor crisis is coming to an end.
