Ch. 15 - Taking a Look at Yusheng

Listening to Liu Qingfeng's words, everyone fell silent.Even now, they had no idea what the four passes of the human realm represented just as they were ignorant about the mysterious Sin City.

Listening to others talk about it, they would never understand the harsh reality.

Liu Qingfeng's words might be dismissed by some, while others might seriously contemplate and seek change.

But as a teacher, all he could do was remove the mistakes from his own life, share all the valuable experiences he had left and convey them to his students.

Believe and benefit greatly.

Don't believe, then it's your own fate.

Perhaps one day, when they looked back at this abandoned factory, they might suddenly understand the seriousness of Liu Qingfeng's earnest and solemn words, but by then, it would be too late.

"Rest."

"We'll continue the assessment tomorrow."

Liu Qingfeng leaned against the moss-covered wall, closed his eyes, then spoke calmly.

However, most of the students were still standing. S~ᴇaʀᴄh the NøvᴇlFirᴇ(.)nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of nøvels early and in the highest quality.

Though tired and hesitant, they were still carrying a sense of disdain.

"Teacher, I-I'm not tired."

Zhao Zicheng said it awkwardly.

Liu Qingfeng opened his eyes slightly from the darkness and looked at Zhao Zicheng and the others with no joy or sorrow. "Is this unbearable to you?"

"Have you ever slept among severed limbs?"

"Do you know what it feels like to sleep knowing you might never wake up again?"

"Still alive, still able to collapse without worrying about your life's safety---that's already the greatest happiness in the world."

"Of course, if you only want to be an ordinary person and to serve the people, then it doesn't matter."

"But you've come here wanting to gain resources, to enjoy privileges others can't. And yet, if you're unwilling to endure hardships, then just go back directly."

"I'm not expecting you to become heroes of the human race."

"But I also don't want you to become a disgrace to the human race."

The teachers from the other two schools watched Liu Qingfeng in the corner with expressions carrying a hint of inexplicable sentiment, lost in their memories.

In this world, anyone awakened with combat strength has experienced near-death situations several times.

For a moment, they were filled with great courage.

"Sit down, damn it!"

"Look at Yusheng! He just sat down as soon as he came in."

"Isn't he more outstanding than any of you?"

"Do you see any arrogance in him?"

The students exchanged glances, some were gritting their teeth, then sat down, stubbornly displaying the typical obstinacy of youth.

And then...

Amid the watchful eyes of everyone, Yusheng stood up.

Suddenly, the atmosphere in the room grew peculiar.

'Do you really have a problem with us?'

'Damn it!'

"Using the restroom."

Yusheng calmly explained and then, with his hands in his pockets, walked toward the exit of the factory.

The factory was somewhat dark at this point. He paused briefly after a few steps, moving to the side, with his body against a corner.

Above his head, a small, delicate monitor was placed that was cleverly disguised to resemble a swallow's old nest.

However, upon closer inspection, one could see a faint blinking red light inside.

He unstrapped the crossbow from his forearm and held it in his hand.

After waiting for about three seconds, he turned quietly and entered the door, his movements were lightning-fast. In a flash, he disappeared from everyone's view and merged back into the darkness.

His route was peculiar, always keeping himself well-hidden in the shadows. Each sudden turn seemed to bring him into a blind spot where surveillance couldn't reach.

It was as though he knew the exact locations of all the monitors within the abandoned factory.

Finally...

Yusheng stopped outside the rusted iron door, leaning against the wall, his breathing becoming quieter and his ears twitching slightly.

...

"Do you have information about Liu Qingfeng?"

Monitoring Team member A looked at the screen, pondered for a moment, then asked.

Monitoring Team Member B shook his head. "No, but based on his conversation with that idiot earlier, he should be from the Demon-Sealing Pass."

"He's a qualified teacher."

"Serving his time here."

"I think we should report this to the higher-ups and see if we can transfer him to the provincial capital."

"His teaching methods are quite meaningful."

The expression on Monitoring Team member A's face grew serious, his tone is earnest.

Monitoring Team Member B nodded in agreement, clearly hearing Liu Qingfeng's words to the students outside.

Soon, the room fell silent again.

Yusheng tilted his head slightly, as if pondering something. He retracted the crossbow and turned to leave.

He didn't push open the door as he left, behaving as if nothing had happened.

He retraced his steps, positioning himself just outside the factory gate, his figure was exposed to the surveillance camera. He sat down casually against the wall and closed his eyes, as if falling asleep.

Liu Qingfeng glanced at Yusheng's return but didn't say anything.

For a moment, they were the quietest ones in the room.

The rest were engaged in hushed discussions about the possible assessment content for the next day, about how unreliable Luo Tian was and how ruthless Yusheng had been.

Although Yusheng had only used his hands for a few seconds during the entire assessment, it had completely quelled their thoughts of resistance.

They could only hope that tomorrow's assessment would involve more strategic thinking.

That way, they might have a chance.

After all, Yusheng didn't seem particularly intelligent.

...

Inside the monitoring room.

The school bus driver, who had been lying asleep on the bed, opened his eyes at some point. He remained still, maintaining the same position but turned his head slightly to watch the surveillance footage.

Only when Yusheng appeared outside the factory again did the driver close his eyes once more.

The room contained only Monitoring Team Member A while Monitoring Team Member B continued to grumble incessantly about how they must complain about Luo Tian, listing all the unreliable actions he had taken over the past two years.

Those countless accusations had become the most popular topic for discussion that night.
