Chapter 830: Picked Someone?
‘If you’ve had your fun then behave yourself.’
Aster averted his gaze when he heard this voice echoing in his head and laid on the ground without making any other move.
On the other side of the room, Rutherford and Fryght were stunned after what they had just witnessed.
It was without a doubt that the other pup in this room had sensed the new etcher that had come in a few moments ago.
The fact that Aster had gazed right at Fryght, making eye contact with him was the biggest proof they could ever get.
However, the other pup had only looked away before ignoring him which was another baffling discovery for them.
This little experiment that Rutherford had tried out just now helped him confirm the doubts he had in his mind.
.....
Damien’s etcher had been able to sense Fryght’s presence and even pinpoint his exact location right away which was sufficient to ascertain that the pup was not a simple one.
Having reached this conclusion, the Earl raised his gaze and fixed it right on the young boy seated opposite him.
Right at that moment, Damien had turned towards him and met his gaze but the lack of any sort of reaction on his face made Rutherford wonder if he knew what his etcher had just discovered.
His persistent gaze had brought a subtle but questioning frown on the young boy’s lips which led the Earl to glance away without answering him.
He still had no clue whether Damien was pretending to be oblivious or he truly had no clue about what his etcher was capable of.
However, there was one thing that he was absolutely sure of.
Regardless of whether Damien was aware or not, Rutherford had made up his mind to keep an eye on this youngster.
‘And keep him away from Vonna.’ He added a second portion to what he had just decided to do.
Damien was doing his best to keep his emotions in check before this sharp-sighted man who had been observing him ever since he had entered this room.
That etcher laying at his feet must have also been summoned to test him somehow though he could not understand what was the purpose of it all.
However, when he realized that only he and his etcher were able to sense this new aura entering the room while the rest went on with what they had been doing until now, his mind had come up with an explanation.
The Earl was trying to judge the capability of the two etchers, Aster and Celestial, who were in this room and it appeared that only his beast had passed this test.
Nevertheless, he did not wish to attract too much attention towards his beast so he had commanded Aster to not focus too much on the other etcher.
Thus the pup had begun to ignore Fryght and continued to do so even now.
Damien was only here to introduce his etcher to the others as they had been curious to learn more about him.
He had no intentions of getting into the eyes of anyone else hence he had decided to keep a low profile by not attracting too much attention to himself.
Seeing the Earl looking away, he was satisfied with this outcome, assuming that the older man no longer cared about this incident but unfortunately, he was overconfident in his deductions.
The Earl had already marked Damien as someone to be watched and also someone who needed to stay far away from his little daughter.
While the two were lost in their world of silent observations, the other boys had continued the conversation without waiting for them to chip in.
Meanwhile, the little girl who had stepped out of the room had changed into clothes better suited to practice dancing in and had moved to the room where she would soon be meeting her tutor.
She had sent Jax away to finish his other tasks as there was no reason for him to stick around while she would be busy with this class for the next few hours.
Once the tutor arrived, her class could begin so until then, Yvonne decided to take her seat and relax while waiting.
Though she did not have to wait for long as a maid soon escorted someone into this room.
A young lady, maybe a few years younger than Raylene, was seen walking towards the center of the room where Yvonne had already reached once the door had been knocked on.
Raising her head, the child smiled before curtsying to the woman who had kind features that would let anyone feel at ease in their presence.
However, once the class would begin, her diligent but stern nature would surface.
Yvonne’s dance tutor was the only instructor who had insisted that a child her age needed constant training lest she forgets everything she had learned by the time she comes of age.
Therefore, the two continued to meet once or twice a week on the weekends so that the tutor’s worries did not come true.
Though Yvonne had plans of ending this class as well after she managed to impress her hard-to-please tutor and got her approval.
“Miss St. Claire, have you picked someone?” The lady inquired after accepting the child’s greeting.
Without answering, Yvonne thought of what the tutor was asking about.
A few weeks ago, the instructor had come to her with a proposition that had stunned her.
Picking a male dance partner who would be able to practice with her so that she might have experience on how to behave during an actual dance with the opposite sex.
This was the task that had been placed on the young child’s shoulders.
Yvonne was too stunned upon hearing this information but when she recovered, she shook her head and stated with confidence that her father would not approve of such a thing ever taking place.
She knew just how much the Earl disliked it when young boys tried to get closer to her, even if it was just simple friendship and nothing more.
Best
Therefore, to hear that a boy would be entering this mansion with the sole purpose of dancing with his beloved daughter, she was sure that it was not something he would agree with at all costs.
Not to mention that she too did not like the idea of dancing with someone else.
She had taken ballroom dance lessons in her previous life as well and her younger brother, Vince, had been her only partner.
If she needed to attend business events where a companion was required, she would take her assistant and if a male partner was mandatory then it was Vince who would accompany her.
After she had been tossed into this world, she had never danced with anyone else.
Therefore, she had absolutely no experience with any other males outside her family.
Her hope of keeping it that way was using her father as a shield but the subtle smile her instructor had displayed made her wonder if something had gone wrong.
The young lady had soon explained that she had planned to introduce someone as her male partner as early as six months ago but it had taken this long for her and the Countess to convince the Earl.
The overprotective father had rejected this suggestion from the dance tutor straight away so she had to approach the Countess whom she knew would be of much help in this situation.
She was right in doing so as Countess Raylene had supported her and had even managed to convince the rigid Earl into changing his answer.
The boys were taught how to dance in their final year at the Academy but girls needed to be proficient in it from a young age.
Therefore, it was a norm for the young girls to pick someone they were comfortable with as their partner with whom they could practice before their coming-of-age ceremony when they would have their first official dance with their guardians.
Even Countess Raylene had done the same but she had an elder brother who had become her practice partner.
So when Yvonne was explained what she needed to do, she had announced that she too would be happy to have her elder brother as her partner.
Unfortunately, the tutor had rejected her proposal and asked her to think of someone else with whom she would be comfortable.
The Young Master was busy with his hectic year at the Academy and would not be able to return home every weekend to practice with her.
Therefore, she needed to think of someone who was nearby, with whom she would be comfortable, and also someone who wasn’t too tall for her to dance with.
The criteria had been given to her and she needed to find someone who fits them all.
“Who have you chosen?” The lady questioned again when she heard no reply from the child.
