Chapter 878: Trying To Bait Him
“Shall we test out the sword this evening?” Yvonne suggested while glancing at her brother who sat at her side.
Howard’s eyes widened at her words as he would never say no to practicing his sword skills.
He had sparred with her just this morning while the Captain assessed them and pointed out their flaws.
However, his love for swordsmanship was so great that he was excited to hear that she wished to spar with him once again.
His sister usually rejected his invitation to spar in the evenings which had led him to practice with Jax most of the time.
Therefore, when he heard her propose an evening spar, he was more than willing to accept.
“And no going easy on me this time.” She warned him when she remembered how he had not used his entire strength against her in that match.
.....
Howard put on an awkward smile as he had vowed to himself that he would spar against his sister at full strength only when he found his etcher.
Since that had not yet taken place, he was not about to break the promise he had made.
Noticing this apprehensive expression on his face, Yvonne narrowed her eyes and glared at him.
“Big Brother, if you do not train sincerely then how would you improve?” She taunted him before shaking her head in disapproval.
The adults all looked at her with amusement while Howard rubbed his forehead.
“You need to be worthy of the etcher that is fated to you.” She added in a serious tone which made the others feel that she was right in saying so.
However, the elder brother was well acquainted with her every expression which even their parents were ignorant of.
Therefore, he could tell at first glance that she was trying to bait him into going all out against her in the match she had proposed for this evening.
“I see.” He nodded seriously, playing along with her though he had no intentions of actually using his entire strength against her.
While Yvonne had the advantage of possessing aura within her body, she was still inferior to Howard when it came to sheer physical strength.
Her age, her size, and her physique were the major reasons for this difference in their abilities.
Therefore, if she did not use her aura during their matches, she would have a tough time keeping up with him if he went all out against her.
Yvonne also was aware of this disparity and thus wished for them to train diligently which would enable them to grow to their full potential.
For this reason, she was trying to provoke her elder brother into giving up his plans of being passive during their matches.
Therefore, when she heard him agree with a nod, she stared at him with skepticism laced in her eyes.
‘He agreed too soon...’ She doubted his intentions when she saw that he was so quick to give up.
Howard St. Claire was not someone who gave up after he had decided to achieve something.
Thus her suspicions were valid and her parents also appeared to be on the same page with her.
Noticing their questioning eyes, Howard let out an awkward cough before pointing out that the sun was getting too harsh for them.
They were still outside in the afternoon so Raylene hurried to bring them back inside.
Thus Howard had avoided those doubtful pairs of eyes that were aimed at him, searching for answers.
The group walked in pairs as they headed back inside the mansion and Howard was at the very beginning with Roman right next to him.
The men from the Valente family had decided to spend the afternoon here with them since they had nothing else planned for the rest of the day.
Thus Butler Limo had gotten their rooms prepared and by the time they headed inside, each one went their separate way.
Yvonne wanted to observe her brother more but he had already vanished by the time she had entered the mansion.
Hence she could give up for now as she made her way back to her room.
‘I’ll know whether he truly agreed in the evening.’ She shrugged before walking into her room.
The St. Claire couple returned to their room while Roman and Grandpa Valente were guided towards the room that had been prepared for them.
___
Not far from the estate of the St. Claire family,
A pair of uncle and nephew sat in the same room while sipping warm tea.
“You should resume your work, Uncle.” The young boy with pale pink eyes revealed his thoughts while staring at the older man with similar features sitting opposite him.
Sevenz was quick to swallow his tea before he choked and raised his head to glance over at the little one who had just spoken.
His nephew was a true replica of his eldest brother and he often felt as though he was looking at that man when he laid eyes on this young boy.
Sevenz had to admit that his father’s blood was far too potent which led all of his children to bear a great resemblance to him.
However, most of them had different mothers and hence did not have an extremely close and pleasant relationship with each other from a young age.
Though this did not apply to Sevenz and his eldest brother who was now the head of his paternal side of the family.
He had always revered this brother and had been obedient throughout his childhood years.
Therefore, when his brother took over the role of the Head of the family, the first thing Sevenz did was ask for his permission to leave.
He wished to return to his maternal family as it needed an heir.
Thus with his brother’s assistance, Sevenz had separated himself from his former family and became a member of the Oca family which happened to be his mother’s maiden family.
Since then, he had not returned to his father’s side of the family unless it was absolutely necessary.
However, throughout it all, he was still in touch with this brother of his.
His brother’s beloved wife was also someone he had known quite well and thus when their son, Sept, was born, Sevenz had paid them a visit on that joyous occasion.
Due to his close relationship with both parents, he had become the secondary guardian of the young boy from the moment of his birth.
In case of any unforeseen circumstances, Sept would be placed under Sevenz’s care was what the parents had decided for their future.
Though they hoped that such a situation never arose, they had to plan for the unexpected as well.
Fate seemed to have different plans for them as it had led the boy to move away from their homeland and come to Rosenhyde over half a year ago to stay with his uncle.
The cause of this sudden visit was the death of the young boy’s mother.
Sevenz was saddened upon hearing this news as she had perished at a very young age but he had not decided against returning to his homeland.
The plague had taken place around this time and the routes being sealed were a few of the reasons for his discourteous attitude but there were many others that he did not wish to think about.
???????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????? ???????????????????? ???????? ????????????????????-????????????.????????????
However, much to his surprise, his elder brother had sent Sept to Rosenhyde to stay with him in order to lessen the grief that the boy must be feeling.
At first, Sevenz, who had met Sept only a handful of times, was awkward and ignorant of how to behave with the boy who had just lost his mother.
Thankfully, his best friend and business partner was of great help as she explained how he needed to behave to help Sept cope with the loss and pain.
Following her instructions, he had taken great care of Sept who had grown slightly chubby during the time they were staying together.
He had also made sure that Sept wasn’t lacking anything and received all the love and care that was needed during this troublesome time of his life.
However, those words which Sept just uttered made Sevenz blink with a dumbfounded look forming on his face.
‘I stayed behind to be with him but he wants to send me away?’ He sulked and pouted at the thought of being despised by the only nephew that he was close to.
Heeding Yvonne’s words, he had been staying by Sept’s side after instructing his subordinates to look after the transactions of his business, Ocular Caravans.
He also did not travel to far-off places during this time and was with his nephew most of the day.
However, it now seemed that his nephew was sick and tired of him sticking around and thus had indirectly asked him to leave right away.
This realization came as a shock to him and since he did not conceal his emotions, Sept had taken notice of them as well.
The young boy placed his cup of tea down and rolled his eyes at his dramatic uncle who never failed to amuse him.
“I heard news from Father.” He uttered a single sentence that caused Sevenz to straighten his back when that other man was mentioned.
Noticing that he had his uncle’s attention, he continued what he wished to say as it was of great importance and also pertained to the statement he had made at the beginning of this short conversation.
“He wants me to return soon,” Sept revealed and soon understanding flashed across his uncle’s eyes.
