When the man saw her frowning face, he immediately stood up and strode towards her.
'Why is he coming here?' Yvonne took a few steps back when she saw him moving towards her.
But the man was quick and he reached her in a matter of seconds and he bent down to carry her in his arms.
'What is with these people and carrying me around like I am some doll!?' She struggled in his arms and glared at the man but he did not pay attention to her actions.
He was busy glaring at Mrs. Jacinth who was now cowering with her head bowed low at his fierce gaze.
"Have I been paying you for nothing? Why is my daughter walking when she could have been comfortably carried around?" He spoke in a loud voice and this shocked Yvonne.
'He's this angry because I walked all the way here?' She felt a slight warmth pass through her heart because this was the first time in a very long time that someone had bothered about how she felt.
'You aren't so bad, mountain man.' She slowly snaked her arms around the man's neck.
When he felt that she had stopped struggling, he looked at her face and saw her shocked expression.
"Is something wrong, Vonna?" He gently asked her and she returned to her senses.
"Don't blame her. I had insisted on walking here, it had nothing to do with her." She explained in a clear voice to stop him from misunderstanding the situation.
"Oh!" He nodded his head and signaled the maid that she could leave.
He then carried her over to the table and placed her on the high chair between himself and his wife.
"Ruthy, can you stop frightening our servants?" The woman jested as she patted his chest.
"Ruthy?" Yvonne looked at the mountain-like man and chuckled when she heard what the woman had called him.
Hearing her adorable giggle, the woman too smiled but the man pouted.
"Ray, look! Vonna is laughing at me!" He pouted and Yvonne laughed louder.
'Good Lord! He reminds me of Grandpa.' She thought of how her grandpa would pout and whine when she messed with him.
But when she thought of how she would never see him or Vince again, she felt her mood plummet.
The couple who had seen the changes on her face, panicked and looked at each other wondering what they had done wrong.
Yvonne felt the change in the room and tried to shake off those sad thoughts.
'Though I'll never see them again, at least I still have their memories with me. I just hope that they too never forget about me.' She gave herself a pep talk and looked at the worried eyes that were staring at her.
'Though this world is based on a shitty script, it still is a brand new world with lots of new possibilities. As long as I avoid meeting any of the characters from that godforsaken story, I can still live a happy life here.' She planned for her future and was satisfied with those plans.
"My name is Yvonne St. Claire, what's yours?" She gave them her best business smile and waited for them to answer.
The script she had read had very little information about the character Yvonne because she was just some side character, so she needed to gather intel about the people she would be living with from now on.
"Yes, we know. After all, we were the ones who named you." The woman gripped her husband's hands from across the table when she saw his fists clench.
She smiled at him and this instantly calmed his troubled emotions.
"My name is Raylene St. Claire and this is Rutherford St. Claire. We are your parents." She said with determination as she bit her trembling lips.
'I feel bad for making her cry.' Yvonne was surprised by this sudden thought that popped in her mind.
The woman who had made countless people cry by her wicked tongue was now bothered just by watching one woman's eyes welling up?
'This body is very susceptible to freely expressing its emotions, I have to be careful about that.'
But she still felt bad seeing their sad faces, so she slowly extended her small chubby paws and held onto their hands that were holding each other.
This action of hers stunned them and they looked at her.
"I may not remember anything much before today, but please give me some time to adjust to this new life." She alternated between the two and honestly spoke what was in her heart.
'New life?' They were confused when they heard her words but thinking of what Mr. Toone had said, they slowly nodded at her.
"You can have all the time you need, I just want my bubbly, tantrum-throwing, cheerful Vonna back!" Rutherford held onto her tiny palms in his large hands and pleaded.
Her eyes widened at what he had said and gave him a 'Are you kidding me!' stare.
"I highly doubt that!" Yvonne straight away shot him down and Raylene laughed at her words.
"Don't rush her, Ruthy." She chided her husband and got an appreciative nod from Yvonne.
'On to the next thing!' She steadied herself.
"So I guess I have to call you mother and father now." Yvonne laughed awkwardly.
Rutherford instantly beamed at her and eagerly nodded his head.
"Or you can call us Mama and Papa like before!" Raylene cheerfully suggested.
This made Yvonne turn towards her in a mechanical way.
"Don't push it, MOTHER!" She said with a deadpan expression on her face.
Seeing his wife freeze and looking at that adorable and creeped out face that his daughter just revealed, Rutherford gave out a hearty laugh as he squeezed Yvonne's plump cheeks.
"My Vonna is cute even when she's disgusted!" He kissed her on her cheeks and Yvonne hurriedly wiped them with her sleeve.
"Me too!" Raylene did not want to miss out on the 'kissing Vonna initiative' and she too leaped forward to kiss her daughter.
'What did I get myself into!' She struggled to free herself from these two weirdos and kept on cursing that stupid bird brain who got her into this trouble.
