Chapter 58 - Ex-Best Friend

Looking at the man landing on the couch opposite him, Asmodeus gritted his teeth and restrained the resentment burning in his heart in order to not obliterate everything around him.

The man who had his beautiful silver mane tied up in an intricate braid smiled as he watched Asmodeus's seething face.

Asmodeus narrowed his eyes and sent out an energy wave to show his displeasure to which, the other man just raised a brow and an invisible wave of energy surged in the room.

The pressure being emitted from both of these extremely powerful men was making the timid little boy's body to cower in the corner, just like a little rabbit would.

The man named Neo glanced at the little rabbit boy and rolled his eyes.

"You better stop trying to suppress me or else your disciple may pass out." Neo chuckled while keeping his eyes on the boy who looked like he was in a lot of pain.

Asmodeus glanced in the direction that Neo was facing and only then did he realize that there was someone else with much lesser powers compared to themselves.

Immediately, he retracted his pressure and watched Theo's trembling body fall like a leaf blown away by the wind.

In an instant, Asmodeus reached Theo's position and held onto his petite body without letting him drop to the floor.

Neo clicked his tongue in derision when he saw how cautious Asmodeus was as he carried the boy to his couch and laid him there to rest.

After making sure that Theo wouldn't fall off, Asmodeus turned around and signaled the other man to follow him.

Neo shrugged his shoulders and lazily followed after the God of flight and thunder to an open garden with bright blue flowers all around them.

"You still like things in the color of your hair, huh?" Neo murmured in a low voice but was heard by the other man.

Asmodeus turned around and glared at the man who had slit eyes which made him look like a snake.

"And you are still the snake that I know." He scoffed and snapped his fingers.

The next moment, a pavilion was visible around them and they sat on the long reclining couches that were present inside.

"Why have you come here, Neo?" Asmodeus asked without giving the man a chance to stretch himself out on the couch.

The man sitting before him was none other than his ex-best friend and now mortal enemy, Neopolene Del Kramus, the god of wisdom and knowledge.

Once upon a time, they explored the seven heavens together but now all they did was fight and squabble.

"I heard that your story was rejected, Asmo?" Neo snickered when he saw Asmodeus flinch the moment he mentioned the 'story'.

'Calm down, he doesn't know about what I did after that!' The god of flight chided himself and tried to not look paranoid before his rival.

"Yes, you heard right but that does not mean that I will quit! I'll make my story better and win the bet without fail!" He clenched his jaw when he thought of the ridicule he faced because of this man.

Neo being the god of wisdom was known for his wit and humor.

The gods had been revered and worshipped with utmost piety a long time ago but with the advent of science and technology, their importance soon declined.

Not having to venture to Earth in order to answer their worshippers' prayers, the gods tried to think of innovative methods of passing their time without going insane with boredom.

Immortality was both a gift and a curse but that changed when one fine day, the young god of wisdom came up with a new idea.

Neo declared that though they couldn't interfere with human lives unless they were called upon, they most certainly could try to pass their time by working those normal jobs just for the kick of it.

This sparked many of their curiosities and they started venturing down to Earth once again.

They just needed people to pay attention to them, that was all these gods ever wanted and Neo's plan was helping them out in gaining that attention once again.

Some became magicians who were borderline accused of witchcraft due to their miraculous feats.

Some became humanitarians who were worshipped because of their generous hearts.

Some became famous pop stars and singers with godly beauty and angelic voices that attracted millions.

Many tried out their luck in different spheres of life while Neo himself became an author.

The name 'Neon Polen' became a big household name in the film and book industry for his compelling and intriguing stories.

He even had his own blog where he wrote short BL stories that were flocked by women from all over the world.

While everyone was finding something to do with their time, Asmodeus was the only one who refused to lower himself to work for the humans who should be serving them instead.

He along with his disciple ignored the other gods and only did what they were supposed to do, guard the skies and protect everything that flies.

However, his reluctance to go down to Earth was often mistaken as his lack of a working and capable brain to actually do anything worthwhile.

Among those who mocked him was also this man right here.

He would often ignore them but things had started to get worse with their bullying when they started attacking his disciple.

Asmodeus did not care about much but for the people close to him, he could do anything for them.

So when there was a wager on who could get their story to be made into a movie, Asmodeus haughtily announced that anyone could do such a simple task.

"I could write a mediocre story and still get it produced into a movie. I do not see why you think it is such a big deal?" He indirectly mocked Neo who sat at the corner without even looking in his direction a single time.

'How hard could it be?' He sneered and then wagered that he could do it in no time.

That was how Asmodeus ended up writing the story about Hilda and Fritzen after just a few hours of research based on Neo's old works.

"Where are you lost?" Neo snapped his fingers right in front of Asmodeus to wake him up from his daze.

Asmodeus smacked his hand away and pushed him which made him fall back onto his couch.

"Don't get so close!" He hissed and was answered with a scoff from the silver-haired man.

"I just came to tell you what you did wrong with your story." Neo sneered and rubbed his butt.

Asmodeus' face darkened when he heard this, he was already told off by Yvonne about everything that was wrong with his story and he did not need someone else to do the exact same thing once again.

"You have absolutely no attachment to your characters. No bond to connect you to their pain and joys which is which you got rejected." Neo did not wait for his reply and started his monologue.

"If I am not wrong, the world you created to play out the story was restarted after you failed the first time." He stroked his chin and pondered.

"You want to make new changes in it but how exactly do you plan on making those changes?" Neo narrowed his eyes and questioned his old friend.

'That is why I brought that foul-mouthed child here! She will be the change that my story needs since she seems to know so much about scriptwriting.' Asmodeus scoffed and raised his brows at Neo.

"I don't have to tell you about what I plan to do. Now leave!" He scowled and pointed his finger to the massive golden gates at a distance away.

"What's the hurry? Let us have a drink for old times sake." Neo stretched his palm out and an ancient-looking jar appeared on it.

Asmodeus gulped when he saw the jar because he knew that it held his favorite type of Ambrosian wine made by the god of wine himself.

"Fine… but just one drink!" He coughed and turned his face away to hide his red cheeks.

Neo shook his head when he saw how greedy he still was whenever he was offered this wine and chuckled as he poured him a glass.

Thus two gods sat under the pavilion, surrounded by blooming blue flowers and drank in complete silence.
