Chapter 111 - A Mosquito!

Marquess Samed felt his cheeks burn red after catching the scornful look in her eyes.

"Continue!" He commanded without letting her know that he was none the wiser about what she had just said.

'Sure, because you understood everything I just said.' Yvonne's deadpan look indicated that she did not trust his confident act.

'Men and their egos!' She attributed his behavior to the never-ending ego that the men in this world or any world had.

She took a deep breath in and then looked him in the eye, preparing herself to make him understand what she meant by what she had said.

'Yvonne St. Claire does not half-ass things. She does them diligently!' Exclaimed the girl who had been half-assing things ever since she had entered this new world.

"What do you do when you first wake up? Before having your meal? When you enter the house after a long day at work?" She interrogated which made Sullivan feel confused.

'Why is she asking such silly questions?' He wondered in bewilderment.

"I, like any other person, wash up after all those things that you have just mentioned.' He ridiculed the little girl for wasting their time.

Yvonne was sure that he was mocking her inwardly and this made the subtle smile on her face turn into a smirk.

"How sure are you that the commoners in Rosenhyde do the same?" She polled and enjoyed the startled look on his face.

There was no answer from him since he had no clue about what the situation was with the commoners.

Though he disliked the disparity that was present, he, like many others, grumbled and moaned while sitting at home without taking any steps to improve this situation.

But there was one such man who had done so and that man was none other than Yvonne's future husband.

'That freak would venture out into the other fiefs and gather information to help in improving the living conditions of the commoners.' She rolled her eyes at the man in her mind.

'He was good to everyone except his wife!' She sneered when she recalled the plot of the story.

Once Hilda and Fritzen unite and confront the King to bless their union, the first thing King Ophire asks of them is to gain the support of the nobles and the commoners.

The nobles already loved Fritzen and there was not much trouble in that aspect.

The problem arose when it was the matter of the commoners as they had no way to connect with the people they knew nothing about.

This was solved quickly when Hilda offered her help and mentioned how people lived in a pitiable state in the fiefs at the extreme south of Rosenhyde.

Thus began a mission to improve their living conditions in order to gain their love and support.

Fritzen and Hilda were supported by Draco who led the secret expedition to gain information about the lives of the commoners.

Everything he learned was shared with the King who soon ordered that the general populace of Rosenhyde were to be taught basic etiquette and given better support from the fief lords.

'When the knowledge that nobles thought to be common was spread among the citizens, everyone was elated and rejoiced as they praised the future king and queen.' She narrowed her eyes after this thought came to her mind.

The people all remembered Fritzen and Hilda who had proposed the idea but had failed to notice that it was Draco who had done all the work to make their idea into reality.

'Such attention whores!' She scowled at the couple who were blessed with a happily ever after in Blue bird's script.

However, she soon stopped herself and knocked her forehead hard by using her knuckles.

Sullivan's eyes widened in surprise and he stared at her unblinkingly.

"What is wrong with you!?" He yelled as he rose from his seat and moved closer towards her.

Moving the tiny hand which was covering her forehead, he found that the place where she had hit herself had now turned a bright red.

He did not hesitate to call for the maid whom he knew was standing right outside the door.

Within a few seconds, Mrs. Jacinth was inside the room and fell into a panic when she saw the bright and red mark on her miss' forehead.

The next second, she fled from the room causing both Yvonne and the Marquess to stare at the door in astonishment.

"Who knew that she could run that fast?' Yvonne chuckled as she jested in hopes of diverting his attention.

However, Sullivan continued to stare at her and would not turn his gaze away from her.

"Why did you do that?" He questioned her once again.

This time, his usual goofiness was nowhere to be seen and he folded his arms across his chest as he awaited her answer.

Yvonne pouted as she stared back at his annoyed face while trying to make up an excuse for why she had done that.

'How should I say that I smacked myself because I felt pity for that cheater of a husband!?' She lamented in her heart.

When she was thinking of how all the glory had fallen in the lap of the future King and Queen, she realized that the man who had done the hard work for his beloved was left in the dust.

Draco was forgotten and tossed aside once he had completed his task.

The thought of him watching his loved one basking in the glory he set up for her but in the arms of another man made Yvonne feel an odd sense of sympathy for him.

Her heart ached for the man who had done everything he could for her yet that was not enough to gain him the right to stand next to her.

When she felt her heart melt for him, the very next second, Yvonne had ruthlessly knocked herself on the forehead.

Not concerned about the pain she felt, all she wished for was to remove any soft emotions she might have developed for that horrible human being.

'So what if all he received was heartbreak? He set himself up for that heartbreak when he chose to love another man's woman!' She sneered at him and then decided to toss any thoughts about him away from her mind.

Sullivan's eerie and menacing gaze brought her back to the present and she smiled at him to prove that she was alright.

"A mosquito!" She exclaimed in answer to his repeated questions.
