'What sorcery is this!?' Marquess Samed wondered as he watched the child transform how she looked with just a few pins.
The concept of face contouring by the mere use of hairstyles did not exist in this world but not for long.
The hairstyle that Yvonne had just tried on would someday be named 'The Yvonne' after her once it's popularity would explode in the noble families.
However, right now it was a simple trick she had used to fool her father into being none the wiser.
"How do I look?" She polled while turning her gaze towards the two people present in the room.
The dazed nods she received was enough to indicate that she had done a good job.
She then gave her maid a silent nod which was understood by the old woman who stepped out of the room to give them some privacy.
'Let us get this over with. It is already lunchtime' She decided and adjusted the bangs on her forehead before glancing at her tutor.
"The final and most important aspect of improving the policies is to build better roads." She mentioned and held up the paper she had traced the roads on.
Sullivan was still annoyed at her for not revealing what she had thought that made her harm herself so he sat in silence as he listened to what she had to say.
"The medicines and cure will not matter if there is no way to distribute it among the commoners." She reminded him which gained a startled nod from him.
'The bad state of the roads is a major problem in Rosenhyde.' He agreed with her thoughts.
He then leaned forward and snatched the paper she had drawn on and folded it as he placed it in his folder.
'That is mine!' She stretched out her hand to snatch it back but failed to do so thanks to her short arms.
Ignoring her reluctant face, he picked up the map that was laid out on the table and his notes after which he placed them in the same folder.
The routes she had drawn were all those which worked in her favor and right now they were inside this man's folder.
"Marquess, you can take that as an example if you wish to but that is not the complete map." She informed him as a warning in advance.
"You do not have to bother about that." His rude answer made her frown.
'There no gratitude in his voice! Why do I even bother? Let him show that map to the King in the off chance that he gets to meet him and hopefully, they build those exact routes!' She cursed after hearing his ungrateful words.
She hoped that everything would work out in her favor so that she might set up her businesses with ease when the came for it to be established.
'Just let me grow a little older than I can begin my preparations!' She cackled as she came up with the evil plan.
However, to the Marquess, her cackle was perceived as a giggle by a child who had seen a cute toy.
Having completed their discussions, they were led to the Dinner Hall by Mrs. Jacinth.
Even as they walked ahead, Yvonne could feel the anxious demeanor of her nanny and she sighed at the lack of faith in her.
'I think that I can handle the situation well!' She scoffed at her nanny and walked ahead.
Sullivan discerned the relationship between master and servant as he followed after the little girl.
'She seems to be close to her.' He determined after the interactions that he had been a witness to today.
The scene in the Dinner Hall was the same as any other day and the only person missing was the heir, Howard St. Claire.
As Yvonne and her tutor entered the room, they were led to their seats where they met the Earl and Countess St. Claire who were already waiting for them.
"Have you finished your discussion?" Rutherford inquired as he smiled at his child.
'There is something different about her today.' He wondered what was new as he could not point his finger on what it was.
He narrowed his eyes as he closely examined her face but even after trying his best, he came up short at what that aspect was.
Raylene on the other hand took a single glance at her daughter and tilted her head.
"Your hair looks different today." She commented and this received a grateful gasp from her husband.
"Yes, Vonna's hair is different." He exclaimed when he finally realized what was new about her.
Both Marquess Samed and Yvonne froze for a quick second when this was mentioned.
"Do I not look good, Mama? Papa?" She muttered with her lips pouted outwards.
The pitiful look she had displayed made even Sullivan shake his head before he realized that she was putting on a show to save the maid.
'She is so skilled!' He declared and watched her next moves.
Just as she had expected, noticing her pouty lips and her teary eyes, the doting parents began praising her new style and discarded any other thought from their minds.
'And that is how you get them to act according to your wishes.' She smirked with her head lowered to avoid their gaze.
The food was soon served and Sullivan was surprised to see that half of the food on the table was according to his tastes.
"You are not the only one with spies." Rutherford cleared the doubt in the tutor's mind.
'So he knew that my men spy on his daughter from time to time?' He presumed and shrugged his shoulders at his secrets being exposed.
Sullivan chuckled and shook his head while enjoying the food that they had prepared specifically for him.
Wanting to keep the conversation lively, Rutherford moved on to the next topic that was demanding his attention for quite some time now.
"What was it that Marquess had to discuss with Vonna that he had come over uninvited?" He questioned with a subtle smile.
"I needed some information from Miss Yvonne for the report that King Ophire had asked me to submit by tomorrow morning." Marquess Samed answered truthfully about his reasons for arriving here today.
*Clang*
The loud noise diverted their attention towards the child who was staring at her tutor with her eyes wide open.
