Yvonne's feet refused to enter the store which her mother had pointed at.
The reason for this was none other than the large board that was hung outside the store.
*Golden Tailoring*
'Not more clothes!' She groaned and looked up at her mother only to find that Raylene's eyes were sparkling in anticipation to enter the place.
She had come here once with the other ladies and had fallen in love with their clothes.
Though she had more than enough money to buy half the store, she had restrained herself as she did not wish to appear haughty and superior compared to the other women.
She had decided that she would come back here some other day and purchase new clothes to her heart's content.
However, they had gone to the summer estate, and then certain events took place which had caused her plans to be delayed until now.
Since she had come over with her daughter today, she was not going to waste this priceless opportunity and buy everything that caught her eye.
Feeling the child's gaze, Raylene came back from her thoughts and she glanced down to smile at the puffed-up cheeks of the little girl.
'She thinks I am cute, ergo I am not being taken seriously!' Yvonne grumbled in her heart and looked away.
The mother patted her head while making sure to not mess up her neatly combed hair and then held her hand as they stepped ahead.
Yvonne stayed silent as she did not wish to wreck her mother's good mood and followed after her like the obedient child that she pretended to be in their eyes.
Paula remained at a few feet distance as she followed her mistress and young miss.
The punishment she had received for the second time in such a short interval of time was enough to knock some sense into her mind.
Even if she was harboring grievances in her heart against her madam, she did not dare to let those emotions appear on her face.
When Yvonne, who was holding her mother's hand entered the store, she scanned the entire area and was impressed with what she saw.
This place looked like a boutique and there was also a top floor which had been absent in the last store that they had visited.
To their right were a few maids who stood with their heads bowed which made Yvonne tilt her head as she did not understand why they were standing there in that way.
Raylene seemed to have understood her confusion and decided to explain why this was so.
"These are maids belonging to the women who have come here today. Only nobles can enter the place while their maids stay out here." She whispered as she led the child ahead.
Yvonne turned around and watched how Paula joined the other maids and stood there while she and Raylene ventured further into the store.
'The rules in this store are more strict compared to the last one.' She compared and then looked away from the group of women who held their heads low.
As she had been to that one store earlier, everything she saw here was compared to that store subconsciously.
Noticing their arrival, a woman dressed in a black gown that was both conservative and stylish appeared before them.
"Good to see you, Countess." The lady bowed as she greeted Raylene who nodded in response.
Yvonne alternated her gaze between the two women who were exchanging pleasantries and once again she felt strange.
'She is so ditzy and naive at home but once she is outside she has a whole different aura around her.' She scrutinized how her mother dealt with this lady.
Raylene smiled at the lady and then glanced at her daughter who kept taking silent peeks at her.
"Madam Norma, meet my daughter, Yvonne." She introduced the child to the lady who was dressed in the same colored clothing as the little girl.
The woman named Norma smiled as she gazed at the little girl and then nodded her head as her eyes scanned the child.
Yvonne stood still without shying away from the eyes which roamed across her body.
Madam Norma rubbed her chin and nodded occasionally as though she was appraising the little girl before her.
Having successfully been creeped out by the gaze of the older woman, Yvonne clenched her mother's hand which had been holding until now.
Raylene looked down at the tiny hand which had tightened its hold in her palm and let out a soft chuckle.
'Looks like I forgot to mention the main information about Madam Norma.' She shook her head at her forgetfulness and then squeezed the soft little hand to reassure her.
"Madam Norma is the one who made these clothes. This store belongs to her." She disclosed this piece of vital information about the middle-aged lady.
The shock and wide eyes that soon appeared on Yvonne's face made the ladies giggle.
'So there is a businesswoman in this world as well unlike what Marquess Samed had said!' She whiplashed towards the other lady with eyes filled with awe and appreciation.
If there was someone who had succeeded in running her own business then Yvonne would not have to face much trouble in the future when she would establish her own business empire.
This thought made her want to leap out in joy as her future as a businesswoman in this Kingdom did not look as bleak as it did after hearing her father and Marquess Samed's disheartening warnings.
'If this lady can run such a huge store without these chauvinist men trying to trample all over her then I still have hope!' She rejoiced as she displayed a wide smile which made the women squeal.
Her cute appearance made one desire to fawn over her and pamper her, giving her everything that she wished for.
Madam Norma patted her head and then looked up at Raylene with a humble smile.
"Now Countess, do not put me up on a pedestal before the child. We all know that this is my husband's hard work which has brought me to this stage." She replied to the earlier praise that she received.
Yvonne's excitement that she had met a fellow businesswoman dropped along with her smile when she heard the explanation that was given by the lady in black.
Madam Norma was called upon by another lady in the store which made her excuse herself as she attended to the other customer's issue.
Once the lady was out of earshot, the mother explained what the owner of this store had meant when she said those words earlier.
The store held all of Madam Norma's creations but the business and the money were all handled by her husband behind the scenes.
The face of the store was this noble lady but the brains behind the store were her husband who made sure that she never ran into any problems while doing what she loved to do, which was creating new clothes that received the admiration of many in the Noble society.
When Raylene had explained this matter to her daughter she could not have help but feel as though Yvonne was thoroughly disappointed in what she had heard.
'Why is it that when I become moderately excited about something here, things turn in such a depressing direction!?' Yvonne cried out in her mind as she bit her lip.
